Democrat and Chronicle | Three-Point Stance | Sal Maiorana
"What is firing Jauron gonna do, other than create the illusion that the Bills are trying to do something to win? Because honestly, they’re not going to win any more than they are right now. If the Bills were to fire Jauron before the end of the season, the only way it makes any sense is if they go outside the organization and bring in a big-name replacement. No interim coach. Go get the guy who is going to be the long-term answer and then give him the rest of the season to evaluate these players in live game situations, which is the only way to do it."

An offense's job is to score points. Failing that, it should at least control the ball long enough to give its defense a chance to rest. The Buffalo Bills are having a hard time doing either.

Sal made two great quotes:
They love culling the waiver wire for other team’s rejects. They also must lead the league in practice squad maneuvers. Have you ever seen a team pay more attention to the guys’ who matter the least on the team?

Go get the guy who is going to be the long-term answer and then give him the rest of the season to evaluate these players in live game situations, which is the only way to do it. Then he can make some informed decisions in the offseason concerning who is good enough to keep, and who needs to be replaced.Could not have said it better myself…wait a minute, that’s exactly what I’ve been saying for a few weeks now!

Then in the Chronicle..
Mitchell likes that Fewell has turned to him to try and get the defense back on track. “I feel it’s a natural position for me,” said Mitchell. "I enjoy making the calls and making the checks and all that. I’m excited about it and it’s not going to be that difficult of a move.
I think Mitchell will be very good at Mike, might even be an improvement over POZ. I’d love to see Mitchell do well so that Poz could be switched to SAM when he returns. I’ve always believed that Mitchell was too big & slow to play the weakside and that POZ would be better at the SAM.

My comments weren’t directed at him and he understood that.
The very unfortunate reality is that I’ve notice over the past few years a solid increase in fights at the games, which I think is a direct result of the level of frustration that is reaching it’s peak! I bring customers to the games and they really don’t like that part of the ambiance, it’s a shame.

Mark Gaughan says
A team can control the quality of its depth. Having undrafted, undersized Marcus Buggs as the backup middle linebacker is an example of poor roster management by the Bills’ front office and coaching staff.
This is Sooooooooooo true. I am trying real hard not to blame you know who but our HC does in fact have the last say on these type of decisions, so…

Great comment on our no-huddle
Leo Roth says:
The version of the no-huddle these current Bills run is no thoroughbred, though. It’s more like a donkey, plodding along with blinders on at a painfully unproductive pace during the team’s 1-3 start. The pace of this no-huddle is so slow that paint has been clocked drying faster.Great quote!
I don’t necessarily agree with it. I think the no huddle that we run is not necessarily designed for speed, it’s designed to control the opposing defense to the extent that they could potentially get caught off balance. It gives them something to think about because it certainly ain’t our offensive firepower that will force them into some late night film cramming sessions.
There are a few reasons why I think they adopted this:
(a) to control TO. By no huddling, they eliminate the opportunity for TO to bitch in the huddle and distract the QB
(b) They think that they can control the pace of the game
© they feel that they can catch the Defense with their pants down.
So far the no huddle is clearly not working for points b & c. I would think that it is working for point a
But in the end, This team looks so out-of-synch that I have to wonder if the poor communication on the line (a known downside of the no huddle) is the main contributing factor? I think the no huddle is doing more damage that good.

“I love that my favorite football team went from an undrafted LB to another undrafted LB”
How about that undrafted running back who’s fourth in the NFL in rushing? Or that undrafted LT we sent to the Pro Bowl twice? You know, cause undrafted players, they never pan out.

Are we gold diggers or a football team? Instead of being concerned about the superstars (in the first 3 rounds) that can bring us to the playoffs we are really active with the later rounds guys and the undrafted guys, looking for diamonds in the rough… Our priorities are wrong…

I’d hardly say that, we’ve traded up three times since 2004 to get back into the 1st round (or Round 2, pick 2 for Poz). If we were digging, we’d have traded down.

Trading up is such a dumb thing to do
unless you are getting a franchise QB. Giving up top 100 picks during the rebuilding process doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. It also hasn’t worked out for Buffalo, either…
