Free Agency
I hate to look ahead to next year at the half way point of the season, but who are some free agents the Bills may go after? I know it depends upon who the coach is, but I feel free agency will directly impact who OBD targets in the draft.
The team is very strong at some positions (safety, guard, CB) but has a glaring weakness in others (QB, tackle, LB). Personally I believe in free agency to bolster specific position needs and then draft for talent instead of those needs.

I tried looking at this earlier, got through about 1/2 the teams before my eyes starting buldging from all the reading. There are some good FA coming up, but a lot I think will be resigned by their prospective team (Brandon Marshall for instance) and the rest are not so much in key areas the Bills need (though there are a lot of ‘need’ areas for the Bills).

I’m going to keep saying it until every Bills fan is educated:
Unless the CBA changes between now and February and the salary cap remains, no player with less than 6 years of playing experience will be an Unrestricted Free Agent. Players from 1-6 years without a contract will be Restricted Free Agents or Exclusive Rights Free Agents (i.e. not free agents). Something to keep in mind.

Thanks MRW. Me too. So many people are neglecting how much a new CBA is going to have an affect on everything this off season.

Great write-up by Jason La Canfora on NFL.com today about it.

I signed up for Second Life about a year ago. Back then my life was so great that I literally wanted a second one. In my Second Life I was also a paper salesman and I was also named Dwight. Absolutely everything was the same. Except I could fly. - Dwight Schrute

Well yours adds the cap. La Canfora’s assumes there won’t be a cap.

Won’t guys like Campbell, Clayton, Edwards, Jackson, etc (2005 draft) not be free agents without a cap? They’ll need 6 accrued seasons, but will only have 5….

haha, what a mess of a list. I thought that guys in their sixth season became UFAs, but it’s really guys with six years experience? That’s nuts. How could the NFL and the players not agree that a cap is the best situation and get this done ASAP? I’ll never understand things like that.
If it’s six years, then these players fall into the 2nd group:
QB:
Campbell, Orton
WR:
Bradley, Edwards, Clayton, Floyd, Jackson
OT:
Barnes
OG/OC:
Baas, Hicks, Incognito, Spencer
DE:
they’re all still good
DT:
Brown
LB:
Dansby, Morrison
