Inactive Thoughts: Week 10
This week the Bills will take on the Titans miss three defensive starters - Keith Ellison, Terrence McGee, and Kyle Williams. With those guys watcingand several others listed as probably or questionable, the task of guessing who will sit tomorrow becomes much tougher.
Limited in practice this week were Terrell Owens, Jamon Meredith, Jairus Byrd and Corey McIntyre (who both returned to a full practice yesterday), Aaron Schobel, and Donte Whitner.
Here are my thoughts presented from most likely to least likely to sit:
Ellison, McGee, and Williams
Roscoe Parrish
He has been inactive since the Browns game except when acting as the emergency QB. Now that Trent Edwards is back, Gibran Hamdan should return to that duty forcing Parrish back to the inactive list.
Jamon Meredith
He has been limited all week coming off an injury and with Jonathan Scott returning there is no need to push Meredith back too soon.
James Hardy
Finally on the active roster, Hardy has been practicing with the Bills for three weeks now since coming off the PUP list. If Terrell Owens can't go, Hardy would probably be activated in his place. As Chris Brown noted in this week's Fan Friday Steve Johnson would be the "first guy off the bench" to replace Owens in the lineup and that gives him the edge over Hardy.
Aaron Schobel
Schobel is a hard worker. Nobody will ever take that away from him. He only saw limited action Friday after not practicing all week. I don't expect him to go this week battling his groin injury and Chris Ellis gets the call up instead. It wouldn't shock me if he gave it a go, though, and Ellis' name was here instead.
***
Owens ran routes yesterday and should be over his couch-induced hip ailment. The Bills may not have released Omon unless they felt McIntyre was ready to go. With Bryan Scott at LB this week in place of Ellison let's hope Whitner can go otherwise it's George Wilson at SS.

thoughts on thoughts....
going into the bye i remember one of the discussions we had about changes we wanted to see in the second half and this list got me wondering if we weren’t seeing indications of a number of the changes listed in that convo…
activating hardy: don’t forget it wasn’t jenkins or parrish who got cut, it was omon. this decision just makes me wonder if we are going to see more wrinkles involving multiple receiver formations like we did for a while against tampa when they couldn’t stop us.
steve johnson: i am pumped to see him play. he attacks the ball in the air more than anyone else on this team. honestly how did he not get more opportunity before now?
emergency qb: hamdan is a great guy but we really need to address quarterback this offseason even if trent blows up down the stretch.

did we re-sign Omon back to the PS?

Scott is a scratch
I’m kind of baffled by him sitting for ‘personal reasons’. The guy has to know that his job is on the line and missing games won’t help him develop into a guy with a lock on a roster spot.
Of course we could make things more challenging, Lisa, but then the stupider students would be in here complaining, furrowing their brows in a vain attempt to understand the situation--Seymour Skinner

I thought that at first too, but you never know what “personal reasons” means. It could be that a family member died or something similarly awful. I don’t begrudge anyone that. It’s just a game, after all.

Just to let you know Ron...
Scotts Father passed away. That is why he is missing the game. These guys won’t miss games because their girlfriends dumped them. Come on.

Do you have a source on that story? I couldn’t find it anywhere.

Two
That leaves us with two, oft-injured (and marginal), players that have played the Tackle position in the NFL. I would say the chances are fairly good that one goes down leaving us to plug Maybin in as our emergency LT.

So let’s hope Meredith can give it a go at least as a reserve.

I would rather have Schobel back at 100%
Without Williams, Ellison and Schobel, Ryan Moats made us look bad. I was hoping so much that they would be healthy after the bye. The only thing we get is an almost healthy Schobel. We are not even sure if he is a go. I say sit Schobel until he is 100% and let two weeks of planning on defense be our strength. We need all three of these guys back just to keep us in games.
Jonathan Scott’s absense. He is a young man. Seems like these guys are to young to go through such losses in life. Thoughts and prayers are with him today. It does help put things into perspective and during this time of year it gives us an opportunity to realize how thankful we are to have our parents available to us. I have my mother left and she is currently in the hospital. She comes home tomarrow and I am so glad for that. We have been carring for her for a year now. It is a tough period to go through.
Our special teams have been playing better lately, which is a positive sign. These titans like to play hard ball on ST. They like to get the last laugh. Hopefully, not today. I would love to see Trent get some short fields to work with.
Corey McIntyre seemed to be our best option blocking in the back field than Fine and Stupar, I hope he is a go. We need to get our running game started. Well eight games left, Let’s hope Trent’s return is a hope of future things and that our defensive stubstitutions step it up and hold CJ to the earth.
Excuses are a sign of weakness!!!!!!

Williams is active, per text. I guess that means he’s playing? I’m assuming they’re not keeping Parrish inactive just to bust his balls…

Went back and checked the text. Total lie on my part, Williams is inactive. Don’t know if I missed that because it was the last name listed or because he was listed as T instead of DT and my eyes glazed over it. My bad.
The good news is that Schobel is indeed active. Let’s hope he’s ready to go!
