Bring Back Polian!!!!
We need to start a petition to get Polian back here in Buffalo to rebuild this sorry franchise. He is the best GM this team has ever had and has built winners in the two places he has been since leaving Buffalo. He has made the Colts a similar dynasty to the 90's Bills teams he built.
Thurman Thomas said on his WGR55 Monday morning show a few weeks ago that Polian still has a home in Buffalo and that he loves the area. Wilson needs to swallow his pride here and pick up the phone and beg this guy to come back.
Let's start something to make some noise on this.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

I was under the impression that there was some bad blood between Ralf and Polian
The odds of those two wanting to work together again are longer than the Bills making the playoffs this season. But, your are correct in that we need a new GM.

I believe there is. I think its over letting Ralphs daughter being the head scout. Pollian didn’t want this for obvious reasons and he was canned.
What obvious reasons? SHe was really good at her job.

we need to move forward and not back to find glory again

Why would Polian want to come back? He has full control over the Indy organization (marketing and everything), has a championship caliber roster, is in his mid 70s, has his son set up to take over his job and build on his legacy and might literally hate our owner.
I signed up for Second Life about a year ago. Back then my life was so great that I literally wanted a second one. In my Second Life I was also a paper salesman and I was also named Dwight. Absolutely everything was the same. Except I could fly. - Dwight Schrute
I actually read an article wrong and he’s in his late 60s. Not mid 70s.

The Colts have a slew of guys who were tied to our team in the glory days. And from what I’ve heard a lot of the fact that they went to Indy had to do wit Ralph.
It is a pipe dream as best. i would like to know though, what is the history of GM Poaching from other teams.

Virtually non-existent.

Ralph doomes us all
The day he would not swallow his pride and ran Polian out of town. Marv talked a lot about it in his book, and I doubt Ralphy would take him back now, but I’d love it if he did come back.
Yeah there is a zero percent chance of that while Ralph Wilson is alive. There is a better chance of me becoming the GM of the Bills.

But why would his son come back here? He can wait in the wings for dad to retire. Second, why would he work for an owner that screwed over his dad?

Bill Polian will never again be a part of this organization, no matter where he still has a house. Nor will his son.

Hypothetically…. What if the team is sold to a group including Jim Kelly and those guys after Ralph dies? Is there a way Bill’s son is a part of that? I mean projecting specific people is kind of lame but they don’t have a problem with Buffalo or the Bills, right? It’s just the owner that forced him out they would have a problem with.

A Simple Question
I know that Jim Kelly has a group ready to make a bid for the team. I also know that Jim Kelly has no desire to be an NFL coach. But I wonder…has he ever said anything about becoming a General Manager? Just a thought.

What would make you think he’d be any good at it anyways? He wants to run his foundation not coach the Bills.

The next "Polian"
Here is the beginning of my list of qualifications and characteristics for a new GM:
1. Must be young.
2. Must have reasonable tenure with a franchise that has a history of winning over the last 20 years.
3. Must be top assistant to stud GM.
4. Must be experienced in all aspects of GM job, not just cap issues, etc.
5. Must be very ambitious, big ego, ruthless with not an ounce of sentimentality.
6. Must live in WNY.
Additions? Subtractions?
Polian only was 1, 5, and 6 when he became GM here. :-)

Clarification
The new GM needs to live in WNY after taking the job. No telecommuting thank you. I think Polian was a freak of nature given that he was never part of a winning franchise before he became GM and never worked for a stud GM.
