Reading a bit between the lines . . .

. . . I’d say Edwards has lost the team.

What is it Schobel wanted to say but couldn’t? Likely a swipe at the offence.

Edwards is benched with three minutes left.

Owens took that penalty because he was openly questioning Edwards on the field . . . and Owens was later backed up by Reed and (apparently) Jauron (“I wouldn’t say I wish he hadn’t done it”).

Sorry Trent, but it sounds like it’s over.

OR

Jauron has lost the team (or at least the “D”) and the leader of the defense has an issue with DJs decision to let the Titan’s try a field goal vs. having the “D” try and stop them. In a similar development, Bruschi openly took Belichick to task for his decision to go for it on 4th down from their own 29 vs. punting and letting the “D” make a stand.
For DJ to turn his back on the only “functional” unit on this team is a (another) critical blunder. OK, the “D” had trouble stopping CJ, but, if you don’t believe in your players, why are you out there?

Yeah, I read it as if Schobel has issues with the coaching or other big picture things. This seems like a pretty standard ship is sinking type of article and I don’t think it provides much (or any) specific insight that we couldn’t have guessed on our own.

I signed up for Second Life about a year ago. Back then my life was so great that I literally wanted a second one. In my Second Life I was also a paper salesman and I was also named Dwight. Absolutely everything was the same. Except I could fly. - Dwight Schrute

I agree that Schobel’s comments are open to interpretation, though my guess would be he “wanted” to call out the offence. Less open to interpretation are the words (and actions) of the others with regard to Edwards. That’s bad.

Even if he did want to say something about the offense, I think it’s a pretty big jump to wanting to call out Edwards. This offense was worse with Fitz starting, so I don’t see how anybody on defense can be frustrated with the way the QB played on sunday. Can you lose a team in your first game back, especially when the offense has it’s best game since September?

Yep. How else do you explain the Owens meltdown and the way Reed backed him up, Jauron refusing to take his side, and then getting benched? As for what Schobel was thinking, it’s all speculation. But the defence knows what’s going on. They can see it and hear it for themselves. And you don’t think he was pissed at Edwards’ poor play in the fourth quarter, the lousy passes and the interception? I could see a lot of people on defense being frustrated with the way their QB played on Sunday. Dude, the guy was benched.

You know, it’s something to think about. The defenders are the guys on the sideline near the coaches when the offense is out there spinning their wheels. I would bet they hear a good deal of things many of us would find very interesting.

If Schoebel's

taking DJ to task, he should be careful what he wishes for. A new regime may not care too much for him. He should be saving his outburst for the locker room and leading the kids on the defense.

Schobel wants to take a swipe at the O, FO, because his entire time in Buffal"O" has been a big "O for"

Edwards has never been a leader on this team. He is “lost” right now and has no confidence. It was amazing hearing the annoucers on MNF last night talk about the Browns and how disfunctional that offense is… How Quinn is so bad and Anderson got benched for Quinn because he was even worse especially late in games… then I think… Gee that is a lot like Buffalo. Then I remember we lost to Cleveland.

Schoebel is a quiet leader on this team… But I for one would like to actually hear what he has to say… I think the fans of Buffalo are “thirsty” to hear the real issues affecting this team… O, FO, etc…

My problem with Schobel

is precisely his “quiet leader” thing.

He spends a significant amount of the off-season back in Texas and not at One Bills Dr mentoring the young ones. He appears to reclusive for my taste for someone who should lead. It was fun seeing the crazy Ray Lewis last nite jumping up and down and inspiring his offensive team mates.

Schobel does have major cred because of his production and veteran status, so he needs to be bringing that locker room together and not saying “we are mathematically in it, etc.”

Glad Schobel is coming out - Ralph - here the fans and longest tenured players!
5-14 in its past 19 games

lol – yeaaaaaaaaa – for those that want DJ around (not many I know) – that should be enough to quench those sentiments

“It hasn’t gone the way any of us would’ve liked it to have gone at this point,” Jauron said. “But we’ll just keep working and try to get the thing righted.”

I think i’ve heard that exact same phrase about 50 times over the last 4 years

“Any time you’re not winning, it’s going to be frustrating,” defensive tackle Marcus Stroud(notes) said. “You can find a pattern, you can find excuses and you could find a million other things, but the only thing that’s going to cure it is to get a win.”

well I sort of agree – a winning SEASON would be the cure for me.

I also saw on channel 2 news last night that we might lose Bell for the season – anyone hear anything more about that?

I know it was said yesterday here and there – but we are playing out the string with a lame duck head coach.

I just hope we get to see more of Johnson and some other players.
