gruden

just like Maxwell Smart…“Missed it by that much”! Hate to say I think like Ralph, but, Gruden was my choice too. Also interesting is the comment that they offered Jauon the chance to stay until year end and he declined. If true, I guess he might not be the self-less, mega-character guy he’s portrayed as. Such a person would have seen the job “to the end for the sake of the team”.

Maybe he resigned for the sake of the team?

It seemed like things were coming apart fast. As much as I don’t like Jauron as a coach, I do think he is a man of good character.

If Jauron was fired but told he could stay until the end of the year the best thing for everyone to do is leave. It lets the team move on and talk to coaches. It lets Jauron move on, too. Now he doesn’t have to worry about being undermind or something like that.

perhaps

but it was all the rhetoric of “righting the ship” and “working to get better” that somehow seems kind of empty in light of the rumor.
I agree there are two sides to every story. The other is certainly plausible.

Personally, if I was fired I wouldn’t stick around. In college I understand it. You made a promise to those guys parents. This situation I am out the door.

What a load of garbage from Jim Armstrong. At least one commenter made some obvious points. Its quite amateurish and ignorant to knock a city like Buffalo for weather, when the weather is similar to Shanahan’s previous coaching digs. And then to offer up options like Chicago and Cleveland…they’re the same weather as well. Unreal how people who’ve probably never been to Buffalo equate it as this Alaskan style frontier. Thanks Jim Armstrong for an article well researched and written…

what an idiotic piece by Jason La Canfora

oh thanks Jason, way to go out on a limb and offer analysis. he labels the Chargers and Bears as the two most enticing places for Shanahan. Well no friggin duh. The Chargers are winning and about to be in first place in their division and the Bears have his old QB. Why doesnt he talk about teams that would be exciting places for Shanahan that are actually realistic coaching opporutnities next year. Lovie Smith will get another year if he finishes around .500 and the Chargers wont fire Norv when they make a playoff run. Gimme a break Jason.

I really like La Caforna. He explains the reasons why Shanahan would want to coach there. I don’t see anything wrong with it.
