Draft Order: Week 10 - Bills pick 6th
The NFL draft order is first determined by the Super Bowl contestants who pick 32 and 31. The other 30 teams are then slotted by win-loss record. The next tiebreaker is the playoffs - no team that made the playoffs picks ahead of a team with the same record who did not make the playoffs. The Bills have to worry about none of those things. :-) The next tie breaker in the draft is strength of schedule followed by conference win-loss.
If the NFL draft were held today, the top of the NFL draft order would be as follows:
1. Browns (1-9, 53% opponent winning percentage)
2. Buccaneers (1-9, 57% opponent winning percentage)
3. Rams (1-9, 60% opponent winning percentage)
5. Redskins (3-7, 41% opponent winning percentage)
6. Bills (3-7, 47% opponent winning percentage)
7. Chiefs (3-7, 54% opponent winning percentage)
8. Seahawks (3-7, 56% opponent winning percentage)
9. Raiders (3-7, 56% opponent winning percentage)
10. Broncos from Bears (4-6, 47% opponent winning percentage) [Jay Cutler]
11. 49ers from Panthers (4-6, 52% opponent winning percentage) [Everrette Brown]
12. 49ers (4-6, 54% opponent winning percentage)
13. Jets (4-6, 54% opponent winning percentage)
14. Titans (4-6, 57% opponent winning percentage)
[Note: Broncos first round pick belongs to Seahawks.]

You are correct. I used outdated data from another draft site apparently. :-(

SOS I originally used was against teams they have played not teams they have played and will play. My bad I guess. :-)

Top 5 here we come........
Is there another Mike Williams available?
Or maybe we can trade our top 5 pick for an aging veteran QB?

You don't?

Roscoe won’t be back
Josh Reed likely won’t be back

I bet Reed re-signs.
No team is going to throw massive amounts of money at him and he has always seemed to enjoy his role here. Sure, a new regime might say no way but I also can’t imagine a new regime going into next season with only one dependable veteran WR.

Plus we could get him in a late round since he has screwed the pooch over and over again.

I would be embarrassed if we picked before the Raiders…
No weekend spent pantsless is a wasted weekend.
I actually would like it, because the Raiders are likely to take a LT. But only if there’s not an WR that runs a 4.2

Boy that Cutler trade is looking better and better for the Broncos.
I’d say they are a team to be wary of, when “concerned” with QB availability.

Question is...
how do we get another 1st rounder so we can attempt to maximize our draft needs?…we don’t exactly have another Jason Peters we can oversell to the Eagles…
I think it could be accomplished by trading 2011’s first rounder and a valuable player. I have one in mind, who I won’t name. This is all way too early to even be thinking about.

True on the too early part...
Thank you for the insight on the rest!
lol you have me wondering who it is… Can I guess Schobel?

What valuable players do we have?
You must be talking about Lynch

Sorry Afghan, when your team is in this spot at this time, thinking about the 2010 draft is the only sane alternative.
The other option is to rant and rave at the coach [not a good option in your case], GM, or players or fate in general.
In my view thinking ahead is the most positive way to go.
NOTE: I am a Lions fan. I am highly experienced in having our season over by your Thanksgiving.
“The other 30 teams are then slotted by win-loss record”
Not that this matter for the Bills but the NFL changed the rules for draft order for 2010. It goes by playoffs now, not simply won-loss record. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_NFL_Draft
I went by the NFL.com tiebreaking procedures.

They must not have been updated yet.

I love this idea, Matt.....rec'd
Hope you up date or repost it every week.
I think Polian must have put a curse on the Bills when he left. Anyone know where we can get a live Buffalo to sacrifice on the 50 yards line? Or, maybe we should use a Dolphin ??? Preferably, Nick Buoniconti
I will. Don’t worry. :-)

Unfortunately, that winning percentage will be going up due to games against NE and Indy coming up.
Games against the Chiefs and Jets aren’t enough to cancel out the Indy/NE final records.
I guess we have to hope Miami and Atlanta don’t get hot.

I see us losing out quite candidly, and I see the Skins beating the Raiders, who they play three weeks from now, and therefore, when all is said and done, I expect us to be picking fifth overall, which should be a very good spot to pick our new franchise QB (Locker or Clausen).

The Browns and Rams may both be drafting QB, though. How can that be perfect? :-)

You never know what the Browns will do. Depends on who they have as GM and/or Coach.
As a Lions fan I hope they pick a QB so we have a choice of a DT or Eric Berry or Okung.
How do you guys feel about Bradford?
Bradford
has been hurt and after Trent Edwards missing significant time every year I dont want any guys with potential injury problems like Bradfords shoulder.
The Lions history – which you are obviously very familiar with – has scared me away from taking receivers early.
My guess for hte Browns is that if they get Holmgren to GM he will take a QB. The guy develops QBs and he would love to nab one. I also think the Rams let Bulger walk this year. The Bills are not getting a top 2 QB this year. There are way too many teams that will be drafting QBs if they can. Basically every bad team except the Lions and Bucs need one.
By the way I’m glad you guys drafted Stafford. I’d hate to have him in our division for ten years as opposed to “Sanchize”.
"you just have to know there's always going to be adversity. None of these games are going to be easy. Nothing will be given to us" - Paul Posluszny
We need a QB
Pray for the Redskins to have a better record than us. The Bucs have their future QB in Josh Freeman who I love. The Lions have their future QB in Stafford, who I love. Honestly, that guy already has 3 wins after zero last year, awesome. Pray for the Skins and Rams to get better and us to get worse.
The Rams are clearly in trouble with Bulger. We luck out with them, because they appear to think Bulger is still good every year and draft defense. (how much do they wish they resigned Warner now.
The team I worry about for both a head coach and a quarterback is the Redskins. They need a head coach and QB as much as us. We have a leg up as we have already fired our head coach. But, I’d prefer to have a pick ahead of them, because then we’d have a shot at the top QB available instead of the 2nd. Rams are wishy washy, the Skins are definitely drafting a QB.
