Pat Moran
makes a lot of sense in his article on Brohm vs. the other talent out there both FA and draft. I don’t know much about him, but, as Moran points out, how much worse could it get with Brohm in there and we need to see if he’s worth keeping. I found his comment about Jauron not wanting Brohm and the team signing him the day after Jauron was fired. If true, it’s another indictment of Jauron being set in his ways and limited in his ability to adapt to the situation.
If we lose to Miami (I hate saying that), I think we should see what Brohm brings us good or bad. (We know bad)

Brohm was highly rated during his junior year, then he slid off the radar after his senior year.

Slid off the radar might be a bit much
I don’t think anyone should get too high on this guy, but his senior year he threw for over 4,000 yards with 29 TD’s. The team didn’t play terribly well, but it’s hard to pin the blame on him.

Excellent Opportunity for Brohm
Brian Brohm has been put into an a terrific opportunity (minus the fact that our OL is in schambles and he probably won’t fare too well if he is under center anytime soon). IMO, like the Pat Moran article… I really hope the Bills give Brohm the ball the last few weeks of the season. If he shows anything, there will be a good sense of optimism going into the offseason. There will still be an “open competitiion” for QB’s next season. I’d like to see the Bills take a run at RFA Troy Smith too. He’s not going anywhere soon behind Flacco and he wasn’t a high draft choice, but was very athletic in college and has done well in preseason games. My sense is the Ravens would match an offer, but if Smith is better than anything in the upcoming draft by the time they will pick after the top talent has been taken… why not?
Finally, I believe if Fitzy shows he’s competent enough these last few weeks too, they will probably not go out a bring in a vet QB to compete like a Pennington. Fitzy has some talent… The Owens bomb was a great sense of that. He audibled to the right play call and dropped the pass in there perfectly before he got destroyed by the D-lineman. Fitzy also makes a lot of boneheaded plays too sooo, he can compete all he wants in my opinion.
I do like the idea of seeing what we have in Brohm. I am sure AVP and Fewell will see what’s there in practice when he learns the playbook and we will go from there. It is just amazing to me to see how far and how quick Edwards has fallen into the doghouse (almost Losman like).

Guys. Holy crap. Brian Brohm isn’t going to start this year.

OK.. but, Moran didn't say start.
“Pat Moran suggests that Brian Brohm is the only potential franchise QB on the roster so he should get some playing time down the stretch this year.”
With 6 games left, our present QBs mediocre at best, and the season shot, I don’t see the downside to letting Brohm play if the situation arises(and it likely will). What’s he going to do, miss receivers? get sacked? ignore the open receiver? Not exactly cardinal sins we haven’t seen. Far more upside than down to let him audition.

If I’m Perry Fewell, Brohm is my starter for the last two, maybe even three games.
Moran does want him to start.

We all thought Ralph Wilson would never fire Dick Jauron mid-season, and so soon after an extension. It could happen.

Given the state of our O-line and the fact that we have 6 games left,
I wouldn’t be surprised to see both Fitz and Edwards on IR before too long. Brohm could see some time before the end of the season.
I think Polian must have put a curse on the Bills when he left. Anyone know where we can get a live Buffalo to sacrifice on the 50 yards line? Or, maybe we should use a Dolphin ??? Preferably, Nick Buoniconti

How about the fact that the reason he was still on the PS is that he couldn't get up to speed on the offense.
Despite being in it for a year and a half. And he’s supposed to be able to start here after a couple of weeks?
And before you say it, yes the Packers offered him a contract, but that’s because they
A) They only had 2 QBs on the roster who are playing behind a line who could actually get them killed.
B) The fans already hated the Brohm pick, now they were going to be giving up on a #2 pick after just over a year and no playing time.
