JP Losman is now a champion
Our boy JP just led the Las Vegas Locos to the UFL Championship over the Florida Tuskers in the UFL upset of the century (this being the only upset thus far in its history)
I'd be more depressed about the fact that he now has more rings than our whole damn team if the Locos weren't my UFL squad of choice.
Maybe we should bring him back now that he's a proven champion? Eh? Eh?
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

That last one seems like the most likely possibility.

And for the record, we have one SuperBowl champ on our roster.
Kawika Mitchell won with the Giants. Too bad he’s on IR though, so I’m not sure if he counts at this point.

Simmons has 2 rings.
Though he only played in 1 Super Bowl.

See, we are better then the Locos….. I hope.
Then again, as CFL team could probably beat us right now….. again.

It was those wacky rules that tripped them up. Three downs? 110 yards? WTF?

It was in 1961, so it was almost a decade before the merger. Supposedly (and I say supposedly because the game took place 20+ years before I was born), the Bills got beat up by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Hamilton. It was a mix of AFL and CFL rules, but leaned toward the canadian rules. Another thing to consider was that the Bills only had two weeks to practice together before playing the game and they rested some injured starters.

That part is especially important considering that the CFL season starts in July and ends in November (Grey cup game is today) so the Ti-Cats were actually about 2 months into their season (if you include pre-season) when the game happened. Ad the fact that they essentially played with CFL rules (although kept the 11 men on the feild of the AFL as opposed to the 12 men CFL). They played 3 down football (as opposed the the AFL’s 4 down ball) and with the CFL’s bigger feild and bigger balls. Not sure if it was played with the CFL’s “no fair catch rule” though. But even i will agree that the odds were actually stacked against the Bills.

Dick Jauron had a ring too
I believe he was DB coach with Holmgren during the Packers superbowl years.

ummm.....
JP Losman is not a champion. Being a champion means you are or were for one year the best possible at your sport. The UFL is the minor leagues. Doesn’t count.
Could you imagine if a new coach brings in JP Losman to be a stop gap. I started htinking about it after CBF suggested Daunte Culpepper since JP is essentially a younger and better Culpepper. It would be the most insane moment for Bills fans….

Headline should read: JP Losman is now a "champion"
A league w/ six teams only has a best team, not a championship team. If that league ends up w/ 16 teams, then I’d be willing to label the winner a champion no matter how watered down the competition is.
by bluecollarbuffalo on Nov 28, 2009 7:56 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Not meaning to deminish even more, but the UFL only has four teams.

Haha….as I was typing it, I thought, maybe they only have four. But then, in my head I thought “No way, what league would actually have only four teams….it has to be six”. I also find the UFL not worth googling or watching thus far, so I left it at that. Funny.
On a side note, if the league played in the spring/summer, I might actually watch it some. I just don’t have the time between NFL and college. Dumb business plan.

Not really
I was more commenting on the UFL than your post. There was a sarcastic part of each statement you wrote. Technically, your headline is correct, and you’d better believe some people will (unsarcastically) agree w/ that statement based on where we are at right now as a team.
No worries. I’m the king of unnoticed (or misunderstood) sarcasm.

All right, the entire thing was supposed to be in Jest. Nobody cares about the UFL and JP actually stunk in that championship game :D
Actually I do like the UFL, I think that game yesterday was the most entertaining football game I’ve seen in a long time.
And the half time show was on LSD.

Maybe...
Trent will challenge him as the the MAN in the UFL next year. Aren’t there only four teams? That would mean half a league run by our failed QB’s.

talent in the UFL
its sparse
As for talent I think you can probably find below avg LBs that could fill in there.
Teddy Lehman has quite a bit of NFL exp. and had quite a few tackles in the UFL but realistically he’ll never be a dominating player.
DeDe Dorsey might be able to do some damage in the NFL believe it or not. He’s smaller but has good balance and vision. He averaged 6.4 yards per carry which is very good and I tend to think he wouldn’t be took bad as a change of pace back in the NFL. He’s only 25 which is a huge plus. A great fit would be like as the 3rd back in the Giants old Earth Wind and Fire.
Taye Biddle had alot of yards as well and is 26. He looks pretty fast but would probably be like a Steve Johnson at best.
Dline is an abyss though. Probably the only one I could see as practice squad fodder is if we switched to a 3-4 and made Chris Cooper switch to a DE he might work. He had 2.5 sacks but I liked the 2 Forced Fumbles. But that’s digging deep and he’s on the other side of 30.
Heres where there IS legitimate starting NFL caliber talent: Punters and Kickers. Espcecially Kickers though, I was actually very surprised that Graham Gano wasn’t signed to an NFL roster. Gano has the first points in the UFL, the longest field goal of 53 yards, and the final kick to end the championship game in overtime. At 22. For this kid not the be on an NFL roster is kind of silly at this point

Taye Biddle has impressed in training camps and preseasons for awhile now. I’ve been waiting for somebody to give him a real opportunity and for him to win a slot job for a few seasons now. If nothing else, he seems like a good player to fill out a roster with.

I agree with the Kickers and Punters. Alot of them just need the experience to show they can handle the duties. Teams only carry 1 of each and can’t afford to have a unpredictable legman.
7 games and counting!!!

Funny thing with Gano is that the Ravens brought him into camp, all the reports were that Gano had a better camp and the Ravens went with Steven Hauschka anyways and they’ve already cut him. I’ll be very surprised if Gano doesn’t win a job next season.

Maybe I should have a shot with the Bills. I bring “championship experience” about as meaningful as JP winning the UFL title.
