SB Nation's Mid-Season NFL Studs, Duds Awards - SB Nation
The football bloggers at SB Nation were polled, and the results are now published: SB Nation's 2009 NFL Mid-Season Studs and Duds Awards are up.
No, Jairus Byrd did not get mid-season Rookie of the Year, but not for the lack of a serious campaign on my part. Check out the full list of award winners at the link above.

I think I cherish you, Matt:)
But seriously, the rookie that returns kicks to the house on Brett Favre’s team is easily going to take all the votes. I am happy to see Byrd’s name even mentioned. Stellar performances go unnoticed on poor teams all the time.

Byrd’s the rookie of the year, IMO. But I don’t think its’ completely unreasonable to consider Harvin as a fair choice.
I mean, just by the natural order of things, the awards are going to go to someone on a winning team over someone on a losing team.
Because of that, I don’t think it’s an injustice for Harvin to be selected. I think those are the clear top two, though.

And it would be hands down Jairus Byrd, if the Bills were 5-3.

Or if the Bills had as many nationally televised games as Minnesota. I think MRW’s highlights comment is close, but it isn’t what ESPN is showing on mondays that led to Harvin beating out Byrd, I think it’s that Minnesota is a team that everybody, across the country, is watching. The Bills had one MNF game and Byrd didn’t play.

No, you’re right. If the Bills were a good team, people would be paying attention, and if they were paying attention, people would think Byrd is having a better rookie season than Harvin (who is also having a hell of a season, 5 TDs so far). Harvin has made some huge plays on national TV, Byrd has had some INTs on sportscenter, Harvin wins the vote.
