If the Bills beat the Jets Thursday night
and the Fins beat the Pats on Sunday will we be talking playoff hopes Monday morning? We'd be two games out with four to go and one of them head-to-head and the tie-breaker at stake. Of course we would have to win out but keep in mind the Colts aren't likely to want to field their A team at the Ralph Jan 3. How much you wanna bet the thought has crossed Fewell's mind: just keep winning and the job is mine.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

funnier things have happened, but I think it’s not very likely to happen. Winning out is a little too much to ask for in my opinion.

Plus, playing the Colts...
we will likely see more of Peyton than we may be anticipating…whenever the Colts sit their starters before the playoffs, they tank when it counts…so I think they will try to keep momentum without unnecessarily risking injury. And we would have to shut down Gonzo vs. Atlanta, and we haven’t exactly been stellar at shutting down play-making TE’s.
Could happen, but I agree…not very likely…although PF has lit one heck of a fire in our questionable talent and back-ups, so I guess anything is possible…
Peyton is all about history as well
If the Colts squeak to 15-0, they’ll look to win
Good Luck With Your Firings Mr. Wilson….Go Bills!
So lets hope that they let one slip before Jan 3rd.

I agree
15-0 colts
are not sitting Peyton.
I personally am pulling for an undefeated saints meeting an undefeated colts in the superbowl.

To be totally honest, thats what I`m hoping to see this year. I mean it would be fantastic if we can win out the season and maybe make the playoffs, but an undefeated SB would be a good consolation prize to watch.

Would be the next best thing to a Bills superbowl. I’d have a tough time deciding who to root for (I’ve liked both Manning and Brees ever since their college days), but I think I’d lean towards Brees simply because he’s never won one.

Easy to say at 11-0
Harder to do at 15-0.

exactly...
Peytons a gamer. I dare Caldwell to go up to him week 17 at 15-0 and say we’re going to sit you down for this one… It wont happen.
"I don't know how to explain it but we seem to find eachother on the ice and make things happen... Yeah. Pass, shoot, score... Yeah. Pass.. Shoot.. And score."
We would have to win out and the Pats would have to go 8-8...
because I would imagine we don’t hold any sort of tiebreaker over them in any way if we both went 9-7. It’s an intriguing thought, but I would take something that unlikely coming to fruition could be construed as a sign of the end of days.
Actually, if we beat the Pats and the Jets, that makes the divisional record 4-2; if the Pats lose to the Bills and Fins, they’d be 3-3. That’s your tiebreaker right there.
Yes. This.

Buffalo could win out and still probably would not make the playoffs. Granted, there’s really only one high mountain left for the Bills to climb (Patriots)…but Buffalo hasn’t shown the ability to be excellent teams (Pats fighting for playoff spot) or merely pretty good teams (Falcons, Colts’ scrubs).

For this to happen we need (in order of most to least likely):
Miami beats New England this week so that the Bills can get that tiebreaker
New England loses a 2nd game (plus the Bills) to Carolina or Jacksonville at home or in Houston.
And for the Bills to win five games in a row to finish up the season including that New England win, a game against Indy and beating Atlanta in Atlanta.
I’ll go ahead and say no way does this happen starting with New England having no trouble winning against Miami this week and ending with Buffalo having zero chance at winning out. Not a bad thought, but never gonna happen.

Hey the Pats did it in 2001
That being said we are still VERY far off.
Lets take it one game at a time folks, and see what happens.

Huh?
The 2001 Pats finished 11-5 or already 2 games ahead of the Bills best possible finish. I guess they won out but they were already one game over .500 at this point in the season not three games under.
There is only one solution
Win out……. if Buffalo does that, I wouldn’t even mind missing the playoffs by losing a tie breaker or something
It rubs the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose again
Yes you would….. Don’t lie. :-)

Now that Jauron is gone, I'm hoping for the best
I was hesitant before, thinking Ralph would retain him if the Bills went 7-9 or better. Now, if there’s any possible way we can squeak into the playoffs I would be very happy. Now that loss in week one, and the Browns debacle loom large.
how do they loom large?
we are still 4-7. I just cant see us going undefeated. Terrell Owens is obviously a big part of our gameplan for winning and hes going against Darelle Revis. This game tonight is going to be a tough outing.

We'd be 6-5 and so would the Pats.....
But, as thefourwinds said, we might still have Jauron. So, we move on and cheer for the Bills to win, especially against rivals like the Jets.

Remember when...........
……… all we had to to is have Drew Headslop beat the Pittsburgh 3rd stringers at home for our last game to get into the playoffs.
That game didn’t work out so well for us.
So, even if a miracle happens and we win out, don’t think that Indy is just going to lay down for us.

I actually thought you were being sarcastic when you wrote this thread because of it’s absurdity. Based on the comments it appears you were serious. First, the Pats are going to kill us. Second, we won’t beat both the Jets and KC, Third, the Pats won’t lose 3 out of 5. 4th, we won’t win 5 more in a row to win 6 in a row. 5th: I doubt this is going through Fewell’s mind.
Fact: We will most likely be underdogs in every game for the remainder of the season (next week might be a pick-em).
I hope some day in my life I will share in your optimism of the Bills doing something incredible, but that day is not today.
And KC over the years has been a thorn in our backside.
With the exception of the AFC Title game when Bruce laid a massive crush on Joe Montana.
