Inactive Thoughts: Week 14
Demetrius Bell was added to the Injured Reserve list, becoming the 15th player on the list for Buffalo this year and moving the Bills closer to the team-record 17 they had two years ago. Promoted in his place was OL Andre Ramsey.
The other big injury news this week is that Terrence McGee will be starting again this week after a month-long layoff. On to who won't be playing tomorrow.
Declared out by Buffalo this week have been TE Joe Klopfenstein and special teamer Justin Jenkins. Kirk Chambers, Andy Levitre, Ryan Denney, Chris Draft and Jairus Byrd are all questionable as well but are expected to play.
So with the Bills getting healthier in a lot of places we'll have some tougher decisions to make. Here's the order from most likely to sit to most likely to play:
Joe Klopfenstein
Justin Jenkins
Ellis has dressed for one game this year. He won't see the field without an injury to the DE corps.
John McCargo
With Kyle Williams and Marcus Stroud more or less recovered from injuries and McCargo himself coming off a nagging injury the Bills won't need him to suit up this week.
James Hardy
Still not enough spots to go around for the 2008 second-round pick.
Steve Johnson
Johnson has more special teams prowess than Hardyand it may get him activated to replace Jenkins as punt gunner.
Andre Ramsey
The newest member of the Bills active roster will likely not suit up this week if Kirk Chambers can give it a go. Jonathan Scott is starting at LT with Chambers at RT and Jamon Meredith as the swing tackle. Backing up the interior OL would be Chambers at the guards, in which case Meredith would replace Chambers, and heaven knows at center.
Brian Brohm will be the emergency QB.
Other possibilities for inactive status are Ashton Youboty (who can never be counted on to play through any discomfort) and Todd Johnson (but with Jenkins out may get the nod as a gunner as may Steve Johnson).
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

I went by what Chris Brown said this morning… Digiorgio wasn’t put on IR he was released. Same with CJ Hawthorne. A bunch of those other guys were fringe players at best anyways and went on IR just cause they got injured in training camp.

Jonathan Scott
I know Bryan Scott has been a versitile player for us this season and the guy is a pretty good keyboard player too. But to have him also start and play at Left Tackle, we would certainly be desperate…
However, the way our guys have been playing this season… why not! :)
Whoops. I’ll change it.

What about Ellis Lankster? If Mcgee is definitely a go, and Youboty is healthy enough to step on the field, wouldn’t you consider not activating Lankster? Also, they very may well have Todd Johnson active, but even with a limping Byrd, 6 safeties seems like such overkill to me. Wouldn’t we rather have Steve Johnson and/or James Hardy rather than 6 safeties? Lastly with all of our DTs healthy again, is there a chance McCargo sits over another player – STs maybe?
I just realized that Cary Harris is part of the 53 man roster, which makes him a very likely candidate for the Inactive list as well.
Excellent points. I’d forgotten about the CBs you mention because McGee and Youboty have both been out so long.
The thing about the 6th safety is that guy would see the field. Todd Johnson and John Wendling both have defined roles on special teams where the extra WRs don’t.
