Jake Locker returns for senior year

I have no link for you but I just watched College Football Live on ESPN get a breaking news interruption reporting that QB Jake Locker will not declare for the NFL draft and will play his senior year. Sorry Buffalo Kid, I know this is not what you wanted to hear.

or...

not so softly the way he was talking the kid up. Now he’s gonna be on the “draft line this year and tank next season so that we can get the number 1 pick and draft the future greatest NFL QB of all-time!!!” train.

ARRRGGGGHHHH

Definately not weeping, I just put a hole in the wall, and broke some things.

Time to fix some Dry wall.

There's not a wide receiver who is fast enough, that J.P. Losman can't overthrow him on a fly pattern.

hahaha

I had to fix some dry wall after putting my foot through a wall after the Bills picked Donte Whitner. And it wasnt because of Haloti Ngata. It was because I wanted Matt Leinart.

Well in retrospect at least we can safely say that we drafted the better player between the two.

yup

i feel pretty stupid when my friends remind me why I messed up their wall.

And now that it’s out, we’re I’m gonna remind you of it each time you talk trash about Whitner too. You know, just for fun ;-)

lucky for me I like Whitner more than most people right now!

You and me both. Always have.

I mean sure he can resemble role player and isn’t quite playing up to his 8th overall drafting. But he’s a quality starter. And it seems like everyone else in the league thinks that he’s a good safety but us.

Gives you another year to put together a good highlight reel for Locker

We will probably still need to draft another QB next year :-)

No need to.

He won’t be a Bill in 2011 even if we have the first draft pick, unless his draft stock falls his senior season.

This should be the final nail in the coffin of getting Shanahan her.

Next Year is looking just as dismal for the Bills as this one.

We weren't getting Locker this year anyhow

Smart guy, like Bradford …. wait a minute …. oops.

by hightower_mc on Dec 14, 2009 5:06 PM EST reply actions

I know its shocking to hear......

but for some guys……its not just about money…….I see nothing wrong with it…….infact I would give him a standing golf clap if I could (infact, I just stood up in my office and did it)

Good for you Jake.

Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. - Peter Gibbons

by norcaliangelsfan on Dec 14, 2009 7:06 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, and Bradford is going to cash in this season anyways. He may have lost a ton of money, but if he goes between the 10th and 15th pick, he’s still getting an absurd 30 mil (maybe more?) contract.

Considering the strides Locker made this year and how much better he can get with some more experience, I think this is a smart move for him. The odds that he is a top 3 pick next year are pretty high.

I actually see Bradford making a Brady Quinn type nose dive at this year’s draft. He hasn’t proven anything once he has a shaky line. He’s proven to crumble under pressure, and his injured arm/sholder will be a concern for any team drafting in the first ten picks (including the Bills I hope). Add that to the fact that he’s a spread offense QB that will need time to adapt to the NFL game and I don’t even see him going in the top 20.

by CanadianBillsFan on Dec 15, 2009 6:23 AM EST up reply actions

Kinda happy about this.

It garantees that Claussen will be gone before we go up, almost garanteeing that we draft the best available LT. I just hop the the FO doesn’t make the mistake of drafting Bradford instead.

by CanadianBillsFan on Dec 15, 2009 6:17 AM EST reply actions

that is assuming the teams drafting before the Bills like those QB’s.

by gatornation on Dec 15, 2009 8:17 AM EST up reply actions

I don’t think that it really matters or not. I think that in the first 3 picks there will be a team desperate enough at the QB position that Claussen will be gone. I also think that between spots 4 and 8 there will be another team desperate enough for a QB that either McCoy or Bradford will be taken. Not as I stated above, I think that Bradford will take a nose dive in this year’s draft. I also think that McCoy’s stock wil risde (à la Vince Young) and that he will be taken in the top ten. I’m ust hoping that we’re not the teams thats desperate enough for a Qb that we draft McCoy (or Bradford if I’m wrong about the nose dive thing).

by CanadianBillsFan on Dec 15, 2009 11:27 AM EST up reply actions

no way

Mccoy moves up that far. I guess it depends who is drafting in front of Buffalo this coming year. Tampa Bay won’t take a QB and I don’t think St. Louis will if they are drafting #1, Suh I believe will be the 1st overall player taken in this draft. maybe the surest thing at his position in 20 yrs. Kansas City, Detroit and probably Oakland, given the money spent on Russell, have their QB’s. The only team that I think would draft a QB in front of Bflo is Cleveland. Will they take another Notre Dame QB, don’t know. Seattle may take a QB but they may end up picking after Buffalo.

by gatornation on Dec 15, 2009 1:19 PM EST up reply actions

I agree that it isn’t that crazy for a good QB, even Clausen to fall to Buffalo.

The problems come into play if:

Tampa Bay ends up picking first overall instead of St. Louis

Oakland can’t possibly stick with Russell right? He’s been benched and outplayed by Bruce Gradkowski.

Washington is likely to pick ahead of Buffalo and could go QB.

If Buffalo wins another game, we’re probably behind Carolina too.

I don’t see Oakland taking another QB at this point. way to much money invested for them to do it again.
Washington is a question mark. Campbell has played much better but is it too little too late? SF has Carolina’s pick and if they end up in front of the Bills could take a QB.
still way to much time left to figure this out. really all we have to look forward to at this point.

by gatornation on Dec 15, 2009 2:23 PM EST up reply actions

See i totally disagree. I actually think that theres a chance that Russell gets flat out cut this summer (Ryan Leaf anyone?… or maybe Tim Couch… take your pick, they were both cut after 3 years). So yes I do think that there is a HUGE possibility that oakland goes QB. And while I do think that Suh goes first, if St-Louis doesn’t go first, they go QB. I don’t see Cleveland going QB as I think they will give Quinn one more year. I do see Washington going QB even with Campbell playing better. The ‘Skins owner has let publicly know his disdane for Campbell so it’s pretty much a lock that he’s released this offseason.. So there are 3 teams with very strong possibilities of going QB ahead of us.

I think that both Claussen (the obvious 1st QB off the board) and McCoy (the desperate team stretch pick) go before we pick.

On a seperate note, if Campbell is released, I would love for the Bills to sign him.

If by “McCoy” you mean “Bradford,” then yes, that’s possible.

Yeah, probably just you

McCoy has mediocre physical skills. I cannot see him going in the first round at all.

Raiders are waiting Russel became a kind of “Vince Young part 2”. I don’t think they will draft another QB next year. I think they will draft the faster safety of combine.

Don't you mean

“Vince Young x2”, as in the size of two full Vince Youngs?

We will not take a QB in the first

i would love to get Pike in the second, if not we should get a vet and trade anything we need to for locker next year
