The Pats Game Dec. 20 Would Be A Statement
It may sound utterly ridiculous to say that an interim head coach should be considered for the full-time gig based on one game alone - but maybe when it comes to the Bills' fans (and brass), they should look at the outcome of one game when the time comes to make their decision.
And I don't mean the Miami beat-down or the Jets game Thursday night in TO'ville - no matter the outcome.
I'm talking about the showdown with New England on December 20th. If my sad-and-painful memory serves me correctly, the Bills haven't beaten the Pats since opening day of the 2003 season. And the more I think of it, WOW, that's really depressing. Many close calls though the years, I suppose, and many blowout losses for Buffalo.
Not to mention the last time we beat the Pats either half or most of the Bills' current roster were probably still in college or high school.
I think a win over New England would go a long way in proving just what kind of coach, and prep guy, Perry Fewell really is on the sidelines. With team wins over the Jets and Dolphins this year, New England seems to be that lone remaining monkey that the Bills need to get off their backs - and playing in Buffalo for this last showdown of the year with Brady & Co. sets the stage for a major statement to be made.
Especially for Fewell.
If the Bills somehow shut down the Pats in that game, or just pull out the win, and they do it in steady and solid fashion then why not give Fewell a shot? At least we know what we have already - rather than letting a high-priced, high profile guy come in. Besides, who says the high-profile guy is going to bring great results? Perry Fewell is at least proving he can take a career back-up QB, shotty o-line, and banged up defense and make them play their hearts out.
I mean... imagine him with a few more playmakers. He could be really great.
Of course, I suppose the Bills could get blown out in their five remaining games, but I doubt it. You can see a shift in this team. A new desire to attack and win and win big. No more conservative run, run, run, punt while nursing a three-point lead early in the 4th-quarter. No more passive-natured coaching comments after a big loss - this team needs a vocal coach who wears his heart on his sleeve, and it seems to me they didn't need to look far to find it.
I guess I'll make my own personal decision on December 20th. Bring on Brady.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

I get where your coming from.
It just seems premature to me to be looking to the Pats game. Let’’s first prove that we can win the games we need to win. Then lets worry about the Pats. Go BIlls.

Your looking way to far ahead man.
Agreed that a win over NE would go a LONG way for Fewell, but that game is a long ways away.
Lets just take it one game at a time and see what happens.

Well yes it would be a statement. Obviously it’s looking to far ahead – but that’s not a big deal – that’s kind of the idea behind blogs – to get things off your mind and to see what people have to say about your thoughts.
Since we haven’t beaten them since 2003 then clearly it would be a statement game for Fewell. Here’s hoping to a W that day!

It doesn’t matter if Buffalo dismantles the Patriots. One game doesn’t make for a long term head coach. Call it the Rob Johnson Effect.

What if....
What if the Pats have the division wrapped up by then with their AFC seed determined? What if they WANT to see Fewell as HC of the Bills because they don’t believe he can get the job done? What if they knew Wilson was rash enough to take one game against the Pats to make his choice? How funny would it be if the Pats laid down that week and let the Bills win?
Haha, Belecick would do that…

No he wouldn’t. This is the guy that cornholed us 56-10. If he could, he’d drop a nuke on us.

As most of you know I’m from Pittsburgh and get to make a great journey to Orchard Park once a year for a game. The first time I ever attended a Bills game was the 2003 Pats game where we won 31-0…well guess what…I’ll b at the Jan 20th Pats game this year so I’m hoping for some similar results. Maybe I can be a good luck charm!

I would most definitely hop on the Diesel Fewell wagon if he beat the Pats
