Mike Holmgren joins the Browns
Kind of depressing... I hope we get a GM whom is well known and well respected around the league whom has a winning history, but likely we will end up with some "up-and-coming" guy or someone of the scrap heap... sigh...
"Former Packers and Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren was expected to give the Browns an answer on Monday regarding whether he'd accept an employment off from the team.
He has given them an answer.
And the answer is yes."

What makes the Browns a better option than us?

We had a different guy on the top of our list. It means we had to wait it out and he didn’t.

No big loss
I am not sure what makes Holmgren such a great candidate for GM or President, as a coach he was impressive, but not sure about President, he may end up to be good, but it is far from a sure thing.
Brown's land big fish, Bills still trying to figure out how to bait the hook!

We baited and are attempting to land Shanahan. Holmgren was not very good as GM when he was also HC.

If Shannohan liked our bait, he would be in the boat already. Better be ready to switch from swordfishing to smelt

Fried smelt tastes better than fried swordfish (yes, i’ve had both).

Why in the hell would you fry swordfish??????
Get a grill man :-) Point is swordfish …… Big …….smelt……little :-)

Exactly! Long moonlit walks with Shanahan mean nothing. We deserve results.

No Up and Comer?????
You sound like you come from the Wilson/Jauron school. A Bright up and comer is what we need. Fresh faces and new ideas.
No way, OBD consistently has proven they have no capabilities to be able to judge personnel. I have no faith that they could identify a good, unproven candidate.

Why would Shananhan not want to come to Buffalo?
Maybe because he doesn’t want his hands slapped by Bill Parcells in Miami and Bill Bellicheck in New England. Two very unattractive reasons not to want to come to Buffalo. He would be more successful in Washington, and very over paid. It’s not the snow he is afraid of. It is not Wilson he is afraid of, it’s his divisional competition. Lets remain focused on our front office options. Holmgren in Cleveland, good for him. I hope he has as much success in Cleveland as he did in Seattle. Let’s all take a pill and watch how this all unfolds. Shanahan is not our answer and neither is Cowher. They are big names and carry big resumes, but it isn’t going to happen. Levy was nobody when he first arrived, and Polian was the one that brought in the quality we needed, quality in players and staff. Lets stay focused in the right direction.
Excuses are a sign of weakness!!!!!!
VanScott I usually agree with your posts but
I strongly disagree with this statement:
It’s not the snow he is afraid of. It is not Wilson he is afraid of, it’s his divisional competition
Go watch the NFC East. It is a LOT more talented and better than the AFC East. You think hes scared of Parcells and Bellichick? Playing the Cowboys, Giants and Eagles six times every year is a lot more terrifying. All are big, fast, and strong defenses with grade A QBs and exceptional running backs operating behind strong offensive lines. Oh, and they are all experienced and stocked with playoff experienced vets and coaches.
