How about Charlie Wiess as our new HC
I think that Charlie Wiess being brought in to turn around this offense would be a great move i like the offensive playcalling at ND in the games i watched and i would also be on board if he were to secure Jimmy Clausen in the draft either by trading up with someone or getting him with the pick we have. The two of them being together in the same system might be a big plus to the Bills hopes of rebuilding this team. I am a firm believer that stability creates good teams and Mcnabb, both Manning brothers and Brady have all had stability at HC during their careers and have reaped the rewards of that kind of familiarity with an offense. So i would really like to see the BIlls bring in Charlie Wiess let him call plays and if Perry Fewell would stay to be the DC (i dont think he will) that would be a good staff IMO. By bringing in Clausen we would have a QB that we can develop and in the mean time we can install the offense and get the oline some experience together and we obviosly need to draft some linemen and get some back from injury but we could be on our way to getting a consistently competitive team on the field in a year or two.
There are obviosly alot of other things that would have to come together to be a good team but if we can start with a good HC and good young QB then all we would need is a solid LT and some pass rush and that is my recipe for a competitive team.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

I think a failed college coach is the last thing we should do with our head coach position. I wouldn’t mind him at OC.

Indeed, OC is the spot for him, I think that would be ideal
As my mother once said, common sense isn't as common as it should be, I'm looking at you Ralph, get the Front Office in order, THEN worry about who your HC is....
ND rejects, No thanks
Why not go get Gerry Faust while your at it.
As for clausen – Walt Patulski, Greg Bell, Tony Hunter are just a few ND busts we drafted in my lifetime, so no thanks again ND!
I am not in favor of passing on a guy because of the college he attended.

agreed to the fullest
In my mind, it has zero to do with anything, other than the same school will be listed on the back of their football cards (do those still exist?).
When they go through the same coach and system (as is the case with Quinn and Clausen or all the Texas Tech QB’s) it may have some bearing on how they project, but not significant enough to pass on someone due to that fact only.
Go to Dick’s and check out. They have them there while you’re waiting.

I think we need to shore up the front 7 on D and our Oline
I think if we can snag someone like Tony Pike in Round 3 and get either Pennington or Campbell as a stopgap FA QB that would be best. I like Claussen, but he won’t be around when we pick if we win one of our final two games.
As my mother once said, common sense isn't as common as it should be, I'm looking at you Ralph, get the Front Office in order, THEN worry about who your HC is....
Pike will not make it to the 3rd round
id like to try to get him in the second and trade up to get a LB as well

Was John Carlson overhyped? Trevor Laws? Justin Tuck? John Sullivan? Ryan Harris? Those guys weren’t exactly getting a lot of attention come draft day. Jimmy Clausen was the top QB recruit coming out of high school and put up huge numbers this past year. He’s a legit top 5-10 prospect and he plays the quarterback position, that’s why he’s getting the hype. He’d be getting the exact same attention if everything was the same except he played at Stanford or Washington or North Carolina or pretty much anywhere. Was he really getting more hype than Locker was?

Funny thing is, I dislike Notre Dame. I enjoy watching them go through failed coach after failed coach and root against them on a weekly basis, so I’m not some ND apologist. There’s just no basis for Notre Dame players being overhyped.

Clausen
Doesn’t have the arm strength for a top level NFL QB. Throws to many balls up for grabs, won’t get away with that in the NFL. And McShay claims he doesn’t have any leadership ability
Regarding McShay and QBs
“McShay is clueless. Up until three weeks before the 2008 draft, he said that [Kentucky’s] Andre Woodson would be a first-round pick. He went in the sixth and is out of the league.” – author unknown
The stuff McShay writes about QBs I wouldn’t use to wipe my a$$.

I am not sure about that. At least my hand wouldn't be full of crap to begin with :-)

I'm pretty sure you could say that about any position and any draftnik that gets major press.
There’s a reason they aren’t in a front office position. And I love how everyone gives people (ie. Kiper) a free pass when their mock drafts are not even close because they “made sense.” Guess what? I can make sense too and justify any player going to any team.

Nobody says they have to be perfect. But,
when you stake your reputation on a QB being a first round pick and they go in the sixth and bust huge, your credibility is going to take a hit.
By the way, I am not that found of Kiper either. The only joy I get in the Bills taking players like Whitner is watching Kiper’s head explode.

Well yeah.
That is ridiculous. I think I’m going to start a site this year. Mocking the Mock Draft.

QB
Clausen: Will be drafted in top 5.
Bradford: Maybe, but should draft OT in 1st round.
Tebow/Pike/McCoy: Spread QBs will unequivocally struggle, especially our primitive line.
Mallet: A guy with the lowest mobility in this draft behind our line??
Crompton/Snead: Poor accuracy, average arm.
I was very sold on Canfield from Oregon State until the Las Vegas bowl, but there were many dropped passes and BYU’s defense was stout, limiting even the running game to season lows. At this point, our options should be Bradford (1st) or Canfield (3-5). Even though Bradford comes from a spread-like offense, he’s got good arm power and accuracy. We should still at least consider Canfield with a good senior bowl and good combine.
Weis
I’m a Notre Dame supporter and this would be the last thing I’d want to see. While Weis generally had decent offensive game plans (aside from 07 when he left himself with a jv team). His problem was he was inept at game management and installing a resilient will upon his team that ultimately grew to be very soft and reactive…sound familiar? Hiring a failed college coach or hiring a failed Lions defensive coordinator? Weis is a pro offensive assistant and nothing more.
Aaron Maybin is Chris Ellis 2.0.
The difference between Weis not and Jauron then was Jauron had won games as an NFL head coach. Enough in one year to go 13-3 and win coach of the year. To call him simply a “failed Lions defensive coordinator” isn’t seeing the whole picture.

Wow! One whole year!
He also went 6-10, 5-11, 4-12, and 7-9. To call him anything other than a failure of a coach is to see the tree in forest of tree stumps.

But the fact remains he was an utter fail as a HC, in Chicago, Detroit and Buffalo.

He coached, what, four games in Detroit? He was an interim. He took the Bears to the playoffs. I’d love to go to the playoffs. :-)
I never said he was a success but he was more than a “failed Lions defensive coordinator”.
