Dick Jauron Combine Press Conference
Buffalo Bills head coach Dick Jauron addressed the media for the first time since the team's 2008 season finale.
I know you're all dying to rip the man's words to shreds, so consider this an open thread for that purpose.

the complete quote
“James is… doing…very very well in rehab. As you know, he’s a very dedicated guy. He’s in Buffalo, he’s with us all the time. I see him almost every morning down in our training room. So I would so he’s – I wouldn’t predict that he’s ahead of schedule, but right now we’re looking for him sometime early in our training camp for him to go – so we’re pretty optimistic about him.”

so yeah, kinda a big surprise, considering the injury

Not gonna happen, he can come back early, (please see McNabb, Donavan) but he won't be effective
Most guys, regardless of how soon they see the field need a full year before reaching their prior ability levels. So, yeah, he might be in TC, will probably get PUP’ed and be back by week 6-8, and will be only to run stiffly down the field, and turn (just like he did this year) so it may not be much of a drop off.
I told the witch doctor that I was in love with the Buffalo Bills, and instead of telling me to say "Oh eeh oh oh ah, ting tang walla walla wing bang" in order to make me feel better he told me to buy a gun and end it.

WABillsfan
you think if he’s back running routes at the beginning of training camp he will be PUPed? I sure don’t. If he is running routes then he is running routes in the preseason and playing in week 1 in whatever capacity he is capable.

Running routes, and running them well and at full speed is another thing
Look at Richard Seymour 2 seasons ago, he was injured, practiced during TC, but was not effective enough, so he got PUP’ed then brought back out in week 6.

I know that Seymour was PUPed that year
I get your point.

I want Jauron to succeed, but i’m nervous he’s in over his head. I hope he’s got something up his sleeve for when Bong Mode is out.

“You get that practice time and practice is not like game time. It is not. It helps prepare you, but it’s nothing like the real thing.”
Clearly, one way to prepare a team better may include simulating game time as much as possible by practicing in game time conditions, like maybe practicing outdoors?

Clearly, the players need to play better regardless of whether they are cold or not. Clearly, they just have to deal with it. Clearly, they need to score more points.

They have FIVE preseason games this year. NO excuses Dick, none. Either you win or you go bye-bye, which should have already happened.

Don’t you remember when Jauron said that? Same story, different season.

Hmmm, tackling drills, what good are those?

It looked like he knew the Boogey Man was waiting to smack him around after the press conference
I don’t think I"ve ever seen him that animated. He generally just rubs his face but he was bobbing and weaving. I wonder if that’s why they didn’t have the audible questions in the segment and instead put up those ‘question’ boards instead. Maybe the reporters (or was it just Chris Brown moving around the room giving Jauron different places to look) were digging into him with insightful questions such as, “Why do you suck so bad?”

There are only so many ways to paraphrase the question "Why do you suck so bad?"
Chris Brown did a fine job deriving up those question boards as a cover up.

Yup, one of the best parts is the first answer
“We were clearly disappointed in how the season ended after how it began” wow, just wow. YOU were disappointed?!?!?

sad sad sad
Jauron just seems gun-shy, overly P.C., and defensive…not to mention he avoids direct answers. He just seems timid in answering press’ questions. It doesn’t necessarily relate to how effective he is as a coach, but to ME, it is a metaphor of the Bills on the field under him.
I was imagining how Mike Tomlin would have addressed these questions….

What else do you want from the guy???
I know we all want Jauron to be more lively and animated but what more do you really want from the guy. He acknowledges that he messed up and their trying to get better. He takes all the heat for the team even though many of the players don’t play with passion themselves (you can’t teach that!). The man carries himself well and with class for the organization much like Dungy and Lovie. We all want to win and I personally am not a huge Jauron fan but i respect how he carries himself for the organization. If screaming was all it took then why is Gruden out of a job, he had just as much talent and his team sucked it up to! Sorry this post is so long but i find it sad that people on here would rather see Dick fail then the team do well. Get over it people and move on!

I know we don’t want him to fail – that is obvious. I think most of us just don’t think he can get the job done. We all know and like the fact that he carries himself with class and the respect he has, however, this does not translate into wins.
we don’t want him to fail at all – we just don’t think he has the goods to deliver us a playoff game.
Maybe now you'll never slime a guy with a positron collider
