Jets OG Moore replace Dockery?
http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2009/02/21/jets-g-moore-is-a-quality-interior-ol/
From Chris Brown @ BB.com
With the Jets purging their roster of players due to receive big roster bonuses next month, it could be Buffalo’s gain. TE Chris Baker was clipped Friday and would be a boost for Buffalo’s run game, while offering some pass catching ability.
According to the Newark Star-Ledger, the Jets will also release starting guard Brandon Moore. Moore is coming off arguably his best season and if released would be an intriguing option to improve Buffalo’s offensive line, while also hurting the Jets.
Of course he has to be released by the Jets first, and the Bills would obviously have to make some decisions with their current offensive front, which underachieved through the first half of last season.
There’s no question that losing Moore would hurt the Jets run game, though both he and Baker’s representatives are reportedly open to renegotiating and re-signing with the Jets.
I'm not sure if Dockery's cap hit would be $11M in signing bonus money or $5.5 but Dockery is one player that would be a huge cap hit if we cut him. His signing bonus was $16M but half was paid immediately. He has 5 years remaining on his contract (ugh!).
Two years ago Moore signed a six year, 18M deal but he is owed a $7M roster bonus. He would be cheaper than Dockery but that cap hit may be too much of a reason to keep him around.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Unlikely. I believe it was kaisertown the other day that pointed out the logic of waiting to cut Dockery after 2010 as opposed to doing it now. Dockery’s not going anywhere.

Yeah the cap hit alone makes it not worth it.
That’s why I was surprised to hear Brown even mention it

Dockery only makes 2.75 mil this year. He is actually a bargain for this season. 4.5 mil during the 2010 season means he isn’t going anywhere next year either. People have to stop assuming that a 7 year 49 mil contract means a guy makes 7 mil every year.
Right his salary is low…. but because of his large signing bonus his cap hit would be astronomical to release him. 2009: $2.75 million, 2010: $4.5 million, 2011: $5.65 million, 2012: $6.575 million, 2013: $6.775 million. But each of those years has a $2.3M cap hit from his $16M signing bonus. If he is cut at any point this year his cap hit is $2.3M * 4 or $9.2M. It’s not actual dollars but cap room.
I was just going off of what Chris Brown said. He wouldn’t be coming in to compete for a back up spot. They would have to “make some decisions with their current offensive front,” I see that as replacing someone.

It would improve the team.
But I don’t know if Baker is the answer.

Nah, pick up Jared Cook in the draft. maybe even at 11.

You keep saying that
I like Cook, but not at #11. Mack at #11 before Cook.
Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do
when they come for you?
Jared Cook is a second round TE guys.
Unless someone has seen him block something that I don’t know about.
