Pats, Bills in competition for Fred Taylor - Projo Pats Blog
"Both the New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills are the top landing spots for Taylor, and he is expected to visit both teams this week...
Taylor does have a relationship with Bills' head coach Dick Jauron, as Jauron was on the staff in Jacksonville with Taylor was drafted in 1998."

hmmmmmmmmmmmm
that’s odd….
Taylor would consider being the 3rd RB? Or the Bills expect a lengthy Lynch suspension….
Lots of rumors out there today, eh?

It’s kind of crazy. I really want to go watch Lost, but dammit if there isn’t actually stuff to talk about today!

Hmmmm.....Bills or Pats
I wonder who he will pick?
Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do
when they come for you?
is kinda odd...
Where would he fit in? Even if Lynch is suspended say 8 games (which is HIGHLY unlikely), you still have Freddy. would Taylor want to be part of a three headed monster?
John I.
Good thing this is just a rumor. Rumors never come true. :)

It could work out
Taylor and Jackson for the first half of the year. Then, about the time Taylor gets hurt, Lynch is back from his suspension.
Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do
when they come for you?
wow Lynch, Jackson and Taylor........
would we even need to pass more than 20 times a game?
That would be fun.

No, of course we wouldn’t NEED to. But, that doesn’t mean Turk wouldn’t have us in the shotgun on 3rd and 1.
Yeah.....I wouldn't be surprised
to see Turk call a play action punt on 3rd and 1.
Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do
when they come for you?
That's a little overboard.

But the other team would never expect it :-)
Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do
when they come for you?
true.
The pats did it this year to us… third and long quick kick by Cassel. Knocked us down to the one remember?

Yes I do........and remember thinking, so.....that is what it looks like to have a good coach
Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do
when they come for you?
so you blast Turk for calling it on third and short...
but it’s ok for the Pats??? :-)

Pats are a likely landing spot fo him.
Lawrence Broken boney Maroney can’t stay on the field. Sammy Morris is a compliment nothing more.
I don’t know about the Bills though.

nice nickname
If we can finagle DE Brian Orakpo and C Alex Mack I will not complain about this team for a whole season. I promise.
I think it's fitting actually

Morris only a compliment?
I know its the Pats, but, he has done nothing more than out perform Maroney whether Maroney has been healthy or broken.
I agree with Matt here. Morris has done very well in NE, but he’s not a guy that can carry their full load.

He may have outperformed Maroney...
but Morris is still a complimentary back at best.
For the record I have said that Maroney is a bust. No team is perfect in drafting. :-)

Taylor
for only reason of maybe mentoring Marshawn….but with Freddie in the mix I don’t see how he gets on the field to be happy….A 2-5 million a year mentor is a lot for pot-smoking, driving intoxicated Lynch ain’t it?
MARVelous
Agreed
with the mentoring factor. I think we could land Taylor for a 2 year deal for about 1.5 -2 mil per season. This would allow for him to take Lynch under his wings like he did with Jones-Drew and be part of that 3 headed monster. This would also allow us to focus more on our running game. Man wouldnt that be great. Build up the o-line and have depth at RB so we can pound the ball and control the clock, which in turn reflects on our d-line staying fresh.
Hmmmm, wait, I think Im dreaming again…LOL
Mentoring Marshawn???
One of the reasons (according to my Jags fan friend) he’s on his way out of Jacksonville is that he thought it would be a great idea to stay out until 4 am right before a game. A guy can get away with that sort of thing in his early 20s, but in his 30s?
I know I'm gonna do that when I hit 30...
who am I kidding? I don’t do that now. It’s saturday night and I am here.

Rotoworld.com thinks we are in a better position than the Pats
The Patriots could host free agent Fred Taylor for a visit by as soon as next week, according to the Boston Globe Taylor, 33, figures to command only a one- or two-year deal. The Pats don’t have much cap room and probably won’t be able to offer as much as Buffalo.
If we can finagle DE Brian Orakpo and C Alex Mack I will not complain about this team for a whole season. I promise.
Yeah we have a lot of cap room I just don't see where he would fit into the rotation.

Agreed
If he came cheap then, sure, he’s a big back who can carry the load for the first quarter of the season while Lynch (likely) cools his heels.
Lynch is only gonna get 2 games.
at most.

It was a traffic violation the first time...
THat is why he didn’t get slammed.
Even 2 games is significant though. It’s 1/8th of a season. That’s like a 20 game suspension in hockey or baseball. You just don’t see that happen often for non field-related incidents.

Maybe
Even 2 games is significant though
Not if we go 3-13

I meant a significant suspension.

From the blog link...
It would be ironic if Taylor signed with Buffalo since he was taken with by the Jaguars with the first-round pick the Bills traded to Jacksonville along with a fourth-round pick for Rob Johnson.
Ohh salt in the wounds!!!!

Man....trades like that are the reason we have not been to the playoffs in 10 years!!!!
Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do

Well if Johnson had worked out we would be OK...
John Butler… he made a lot of great moves. This one wasn’t great.

wow.
how are you guys killing this idea already?
i’ve always loved fred taylor’s game. even on the downside of his career, he’s a true threat – you can never have too many of those.
plus, please keep him away from the patriots.
