Shaun Rogers Y'all
Shaun Rogers is hell-bent on his release or trade out of Cleveland because Mangina gave him the shaft and the training staff told him not to show up for the conditioning program unless he was ALREADY in shape, per ESPN.
I wouldn't think twice about trading a 3rd and a 5th for Rogers as we did for Stroud. Rogers played really well last season and would undoubtedly perform even better in Buffalo rotating with Stroud/Williams/Johnson. Stroud and Rogers would rival Williams and Williams in Minnesota for the most dominat interior defensive line in the NFL, IMO.
Think about it: that would mean on every single snap, Buffalo's defense could have either Shaun Rogers or Marcus Stroud matched up one-on-one with a guard or center.
Last year we added Kawika Mitchell and Marcus Stroud, our defense jumped from the bottom to the middle, so what happens if we add Rogers and say... Crowell??? And there's always the Detroit connection with Jauron. Then there's Mangina who will probably play hard-ball with Rogers and wait for him to hold out or something. I would even trade Kyle Williams staright-up for Rogers... then pray McCargo can emerge a little for depth at the 4th spot.
What do y'all think?
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Not happening.
A) He won’t cry his way out of Cleveland.
B) Trading two picks for him would absolutely cripple our draft day plans.

...
yknow, like the Bills are saying “well, we can’t offer Cleveland a 3rd and a 5th because we were gonna take so-and-so with that pick” ?
when something like that comes up, you sign a couple of extra UDFAs to fill roster spots

The plan is to find young contributors who won’t command the type of contract Rogers currently works under. It’s just not fiscally realistic.

actually
it is financially realistic, very realistic with the amount of money Buffalo is under the cap. Now whether the Bills would do it, is an entirely different situaiton. Money may be an excuse, but it’s not becuase they can’t do it, it’s becuase they don’t want to make that kind of investment.
John I.
I'd do it for a 3rd and 5th
Then trade back from #11 to the late teens or early twenties and add in a 3rd rounder—possibly second. Basically, we’d be getting him (in that unlikely scenario) for a 5th.
That is exactly the kind of moves the Bills need to make if we are going to crawl out of the AFC basement
Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do
when they come for you?
maybe one pick, like a 4th
but nothing else. As I understand it, he shows up ou of shape, and plays when he wants. Forget it
The Bills CAN win every game
How
does a guy who racks up 76 tackles and 4.5 sacks AT Nose Tackle “play when he wants”?

Thats what i heard
last year when he was up for consideration this time last year…Browns got him, but either way, the price is steep. But if those stats are accurate, you never know. How old ishe?

He did do that in Detroit... not so much in Cleveland.

What's his cap figure the next 3 years?
He and Stroud will be tough now but also tail off together in 2-3 years
He
signed a 6 year deal worth $42 million…. the cap hit for the first 3 years of the deal was $23 million…. so it’s a pretty well-balanced contract. And considering what Albert Haynesworth just got…. Rogers would be a steal and a bargain.
But, according to our omniscient host blogger, there’s shot anyways.

rogers
ive heard that the browns are interested in bj raji with the 5th pick, so it’s not inconceivable that rogers could be seen as expendable.
I'd prefer not to spend so many picks on this guy but I wouldn't be mad if we got him....

But if you could get him by sliding down a few spots in the 1st, and throwing in a late pick, you’d have to consider it, right?
Sure....
But too much has to happen to make that work.

He would always draw the double team
Literally, his gravitational pull has reached the point that O-LInes don’t even plan on doubling him, the laws of physics dictates that it will happen every time, every once in a while he will also suck in a scrawny little quarterback and absorb him to only become more massive
"Where else would you rather be than right here, right now?"
nice use of Physics jargon.

AP Physics baby
Its useful for applying to football talk, and tearing apart my GPA
"Where else would you rather be than right here, right now?"
maybe
He could be had for less than a 3rd and a 5th. Maybe a 3rd and a 6th/7th, or a 3rd this year and a mid round pick next year.
John I.
It
all seems to depend on whether or not the new coaching staff in Cleveland wants to deal with him and how serious Rogers is about getting out of Cleveland. We hear these demands from players all the time and sometimes they just fizzle out. But as somebody mentioned if the Browns take BJ Raji they may want to pull the trigger on the 3rd and 5th so they don’t have 2 huge contracts at NT.
If I’m Mangina, I would do everything I could to ameliorate the tensions between me and my best defender. But we’ve seen Mangini’s ego and everyone knows how much of a condescending/arrogant S.O.B. he is.

Does anybody know....
what the ACTUAL number was that we saved by cutting Royal and Dockery? I’ve heard everything between $2 to 8 million. John Clayton said $8 million and he’s pretty reputable.
"I don't agree with a damn thing you say, but I would die for your right to say it."
We saved approximately $450K by cutting Dockery and about $1.2M by cutting Royal.

Pennywise and Pound Foolish?
If all Buffalo saved was $450,000 by cutting Dock then it was a pretty stupid move.
They didn’t cut him to save money. They cut him to get better.

Step 1 - Cut Dockery
Step 2 – ??
Step 3 – Bills are a better team
Yes, a not so subtle underpants gnomes reference.
Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do

Like this?

If the Bills were a drug, I could only hope they were like speed so I could lose some weight as well.

Why would we be able to complete a trade this year when Rogers and his agent said no last year?

"I’m Kurupt with Buffalo Rumblings. I am worth hundreds!"
A little late here but...
I would do it. A 3rd and a 5th for Rogers then as Ron said trade down in the 1st to get some of those picks back and it would be all good. Rogers and Stroud side by side would invoke memories of Big Ted and Fat Pat.
The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.
