Many on this site have dismissed the idea that any of the Ravens talented potential free agents including Terrell Suggs and Jason Brown had any chance of making to the market based on the assumption that the Ravens would resign all their big time talents. It seems like a lot have assumed that Suggs' hometown discount statement would automatically mean all their free agents would resign or for some reason that the Ravens could afford all of the big three. Well, as I tried to say earlier, you can't just assume that because a team isn't the Bills that they can some how retain all their amazing talent.
Ray Lewis came out last night saying that he refuses to give the Ravens a home town discount because he's still playing so he should be paid as much as he always has been. He then proceeded to say that he wants to play for the JETS, yea you read that right, or the Cowboys. I find it amazing how quickly Bills fans are ready to roll over and say we're not getting top flight talent, lets look elsewhere and then we wonder why big time playes want to play, and subsequently win, for other teams. I will say it again, pursue Suggs or Brown VEHEMENTLY and assail them with how interested we are in bringing them here and making them a star in this city. Let them know we are serious and dedicated to becoming winners instead of moping around talking about mid tier talent.
We can get Suggs if we want. He offered the home town discount as a way of keeping his linebacker corp together and it looks like Lewis wants no part of that. I'd wager that Suggs throws his idea out the window pretty soon and looks for the money. And that money should come from Buffalo.
