I'm not so much worried about his 40 time as his 10 yard burst

but the fact that he can gain weight while also gaining speed is VERY promissing.

by CanadianBillsFan on Mar 18, 2009 11:54 PM EDT reply actions

GOOD NEWS

not only is it good that he got a lot bigger, it improves his stock. I would be perfectly fine with any of the top 3 DEs and odds are now, that we will get a look at 1 of the 3. Any of the 3 would be a great addition next year.

Don't forget to pay the troll toll...

Good

6’4", 252 lbs. Can probably still add another 10 lbs or so. Love the speed and quickness as well.

That picture is kind of crazy. Makes me think he may have had some “help” to do that in such a short amount of time.

He might have used help...

but it is possible to gain that much muscle in a short period of time. It’s not necessarily healthy, but it is possible, I’ve seen it done personally. And pro fighters do it al the time when they move weight classes.

Watch for him to lose a lot of that extra weight right after the draft and then him putting it back on the right way.

haha

actually the workout place that he’s using (Power Train) has a pretty good reputation. Poz used them actually. They are located in Lancaster, PA, which is good for players, because there’s not much to do there except work out. That’s one of the reasons Maybin chose to go there instead of one of the bigger NFL prep. facilties. They’re also smaller, so they give more individualie attention. Maybe is (and has been for the past couple months) in eat-workout-sleep mode – that is it. Therefore, I’m not surprised at all.

Maybe this coupled with the Pat Thomas signing...

means we may actually draft Maybin or Brown in the first round.

God I hope so

there are 4 guys hat I want to draft at 11 in the first: DE Brown, DE Maybin, OLB Mathews, OLB Cusshing, every one else would disapoint me a bit.

Whew

because he should trump all if available, in my humble opinion.

I’m beginning to think the Bills could have considerable competition for Maybin, if they’re even interested. However, history has shown that no one can really read the current regime.

I'm still putting Brown ahead of Maybin

Problem is, other teams ahead of us probably do too.

I will take a Penn St. guy over a Florida St. guy any day!

Why do you have to 'put your two cents in'... but it's only a 'penny for your thoughts'? Where's that extra penny going to?

I don't go by school

But judge a player by his talent.

To me Brown is the best DE in this draft and Maybin is a close second.

Who do you think has played more in "Buffalo" like weather??????

Who will be a better fit/happier living in WNY?

Does it really matter where a DL played his college ball weather wise?

No

Is that reason alone enough to not draft player, NO.

But to say it can’t be a factor is just being stubborn. Also, my comment about being happy living in Buffalo had more factors to it than weather.

Maybe as a skill player on O it’s a factor, but I’ve never considered or seen a defender have any sort of issues.

He's a BEAST

Did you actually watch him play last year for PSU? I think he was the best defender on the Lions. He practically lived in the backfield. Evans ( who got suspended) and was replaced w/ Maybin NEVER got his job back. Yes, he played @ DE, but on the other side of Maybin. Maybin took his opportunity to a new level IMO.

I have NO problem taking Maybin w/ 11. I think he’d help this team out a LOT!!!!

It sure looks that way - doesn't it?

and I hope we’re wrong w/ that thought process too!

I REALLY LOVE this kid. And yes, “We ARE PENN STATE!!!” I AM a PSU fan, but I try to NOT let that affect any decisions on potential picks. I was pulling for Poz BIG-TIME and got lucky.

PFT addresses steroids issue...
All rookies are tested at the Scouting Combine, for banned substances and for recreational drugs like marijuana. Then, they are all subject to testing once they sign their first contract and report for duty, typically in July or early August.

Before the Combine in late February and from the completion of the Combine for at least five months, they can do whatever they want, without the chance of the NFL catching them.

And since the testing at the Combine is announced, the only guys who’ll test positive for anything that could get them in trouble with the league are those who are stupid, or those who have a dependency problem.

All you have to do is make sure that you don’t use something that sticks around in your bloodstream when you hit training camp and you’ll be fine. Mak you wounder how many players bulk up before the draft in order to go higher and get more cash.

“Seriously…” means you are seriously correct. :-) That’s ambigous. My bad.

The before and after photos of Maybin are from “Power Train Sports”. Go to their web site and have a look. Most impressive list of NFL players including Paul Poz. No steroids there. Just one of the best training regimens in sports. Good choice Aaron.

everything goes better with a BIG MACK

by Enigma3 on Mar 19, 2009 4:35 PM EDT reply actions

Are you sure Maybin didn't use roids?

I have to admit that’s very impressive for 2 months of work. It also makes people query whether steroids were used.

If he’s on steroids, would you still draft him?

Bills fan half way around the world

by moncheri on Mar 22, 2009 11:09 AM EDT up reply actions

This is sad

Steroids are so rampant that you now have to prove your not on them before you even test positive. This is truly sad.

Maybin is training at Power Train, and they are some of the best in the world at what they do. Trust me when I say it is very easy to put on that kind of muscle if your on the kind of training regiment that they put you on. I highly doubt steroids were involved.
