The Detroit Lions were offered a big name ProBowl player for the #20 pick but turned down the deal based on the fact that the Player would want a new long term deal at the top 3 at his position. The Lions prefer the salary manageability pick #20 affords them

Could this have been an OBD deal for Jason Peters?

Good chance of it
and maybe this is Brian’s big secret “cool” news? I thought that Peters saying he would not hold out would be enough to keep teams being scared away from trading for him, but maybe the Bills aren’t the only ones who don’t think Peters worth the money he wants.

Yeah, definitely not the secret big news. I never said it was news to begin with, just that it was cool.

I think it has something to do with AFL-inspired uniforms.

Good call. It has to be one of the two.
The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.

What about Peppers or Cutler? I know it’s been mentioned that Carolina only wants a 2nd for him. But are they allowed to shop him yet?

He is Carolina's player.
They can do whatever they want with him.

I don’t thin that either of them have complained about money. Both Peters and Boldin have.

There is speculation that Cutler would want a new top-figure deal if he were traded.
Some are even speculating that’s the entire reason for the trade. I think Mile High Report did a story on Bus Cook and mentioned it.

You don’t think they’d trade #20 for Cutler? I’d do that before the Broncos finished asking the question.

I have no rooting interest in the Lions
but if i’m running that team (and thinking Stafford), I hope someone is hitting me on the head and yelling “Cutler” over and over. He would be a great thing for them. I really want to see that franchise turn it around, and finding a quality signal-caller is the start.

Trade the 20 for Cutler, and get yourself a LT with the #1 pick. Makes much more sense to me.

it could be but it also could be other names that have already been mentioned
peters wants to be the highest paid at the position, not top 3, but they may not say that because it would give away too much information, i could definately see it being peters, but who knows.
