Here we go again
For those of you that were around Rumblings last year you will remember a little wager that Foreign Arrow and myself made around draft time. Essentially the deal was this: Who gets drafted first, Josh Johnson or Andre Woodson? I took Josh Johnson and F.A. took Woodson. The loser would have to create a fanpost proclaiming the others superiority. When Johnson was taken in the 5th round handing me the victory (thanks in no small part to Jon Gruden's QB fetish) F.A. swallowed his pride and acted like a man and took his medicine, the results of which can be seen here.
Well this year I have found another sucker. BigUgly has found some flaws in the Rumblings mock draft that was posted, and thought that 7 players fell to the 2nd round in our mock, that in real life will ALL be first rounders. Those players are:
OSU RB - Chris Wells
Arizona OT - Eben Britton,
Illinois CB - Vontae Davis
Uconn CB - Darius Butler
LSU DE - Tyson Jackson
UNC WR - Hakeem Nicks
Florida WR - Percy Harvin
So if even ONE of these players falls into the second round I win and BigUgly has to write a very flattering fanpost about me.
If however they all are in fact taken in the first round I will have to write a fanpost proclaiming BigUgly's greatness.
This bet is now offical and I antisipate staying undefeted.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

I don’t know. If someone gave me even money odds on this, I would probably bet that someone on this list is still available, but it’s far from a landslide. If nothing else, I will enjoy your victory on draft day, or laugh my butt off when the last player left gets taken the pick in front of Buffalo!
Uh....yeah you got this wrapped up Eric......
no way all these guys go in the first round…..my money is on Britton and Wells going to the second round.

Britton, Wells or Davis
Davis had a pretty bad showing at his pro day and may slip a bit, he might not go top 15 now, still round 1, but that means other players will get pushed down due to this.
If the Bills were a drug, I could only hope they were like speed so I could lose some weight as well.
I will say that I feel more confident this year then last. That could be a bad thing.
The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.
Yea, you got him on that bet, but,
Harvin will never fall to the second round. After his proday, he had pretty good numbers, good enough to vault him into a top 15 pick now. And he isn’t 100% just yet
Are we drafting Dino's now?

Track Record
for WRs should be a red flag for anyone choosing this list to all go in the 1st round.

Eric, I expected more from you...
This bet seems very lopsided to me, the odds of you winning are much much better than his..
Make it a real challenge and say if the majority go in the first then he wins and if the majority go in the second then you win (Majority being 4) – if both of you truly believe in you stuff I’m sure you both want this bet to mean something. The way it is now is not much of a challenge!
Your ability to control the LOS is directly linked to your ability to win football games!
FEED the BEAST!
Now THAT would be much more intersting.
There is better odds of the Bills going to the SB than sireric losing this bet as it is currently constructed.
Don’t sweat the petty things. Don’t pet the sweaty things.
He made the claim that in the Rumblings mock, there were 7 guys who were definitely 1st rounders going in the second. He agreed to the terms and he even picked the players.
I spelled out the terms and he agreed, I don’t see why I should now change the terms.
The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.
NO need to do that sireric, if a sucker comes along, you fleece him
Or as that great showman PT Barnum once remarked: “Theres a sucker born every minute”.
If the Bills were a drug, I could only hope they were like speed so I could lose some weight as well.

Not saying you have to change them, just that there will be little drama as to who wins.

Well a sucker's a sucker.
You pretty much have this one wrapped up Eric. There is ALWAYS a few players that slip. Looking forward to seeing the results.

I have to agree with keysh67 on this one, we know every year that players tend to slip on draft day depending on certain team’s needs and even trades. I think you two should come up with more of an even bet. Hey if you need a sucker I might even be willing to take a bet into consideration as long as it seems fair.
Thanks for defending the Authors' honor eric.
What seven players would you take out of the first round of our mock to add these guys? How could this work? (Not what I think just trying to see if it’s possible)
Same position player swaps:
Pick 16 Tyson Jackson replaces Larry English
Pick 26 Percy Harvin replaces Darrius Howard-Bey
Pick 28 Eben Britton replaces Will Beatty
Pick 29 Hakeem Nicks replaces Kenny Britt
Pick 30 Vontae Davis replaces Sean Smith
Pick 31 Bonzie Wells replaces Knowshon Moreno
That takes care of everybody but Darius Butler….. Who could use a CB? Colts at 27? Ravens at 26 but that leaves Harvin undrafted…. The Steelers could use one but they need desperate help on the O Line. I don’t see how Butler could get into the first round. Someone prove me wrong.

Darius Butler will be your undoing BigUg. That’s my opinion. Hakeem Nicks will probably do the job too.

"I’m Kurupt with Buffalo Rumblings. I am worth hundreds!"
Didn’t it just come out that Nicks had an awful pro day? Or was it even back in the combine? I heard he was nothing but fat…
Did not know that
Just looked it up, and you are correct…
Here are some links:

i was going to say
I actually think BigUgly has a much bigger chance than many here are making out. I just think that if anything, BigUgly will lose because of Butler. Its going to be a close bet in my opinion.
Guards Brad Butler and Brandon Rodd are decent. - Pete Prisco
Brandon Rodd!! Our best player.
Wow. You’ve got this in the bag. I think, given the lopsided nature of it, I think the fanpost should be a very flattering discussion on Jauron. Just because I think that would be more torture for someone than writing about sireric, and would be hilarious to read. (“Dick Jauron is a caring nurturer…”)

HA! Thinking about all this reminded me of the Simpsons episode where Bart and Lisa are on hockey teams about to play against each other. Homer says something to the effect of, “The winner will be showered with praise. The loser will be taunted and booed till my throat is sore!”

The bet
I think the bet should have required the loser to sing a Whitesnake song at karaoke, and have it videotaped, if you’re both not in the same town.

Nicks
I don’t know anything about a bad pro day, but he had a Wonderlic score of about minus 8.
I've been feeling Buffalo ill.
Everytime i see Wonderlic test i start laughing
Who in the world came up with that name? Are they testing someone’s intelligence, or are they testing how wonderfull they are at licking things? I"m sure the Cheerleaders are happy if its the latter.

I only see
Nicks and/or Harvin going in the 2nd. If Jeremy Maclin is taken early someone will take Harvin in the first. Nicks did have a bad pro day as he was overweight but apparently he has taken most of that weight off already but didn’t keep up on the workouts.
I think this may be a closer bet then many realize.
Nicks could fall.
Nicks tweaked his hamstring at the combine three weeks before the Tar Heels Pro day. He was unable to work out and gained 15 lbs. Many scouts and coaches were disappointed, so he might slip. But Nicks is going to work out privately with the Bears and Miami, since he now has laid off the wings and dropped the weight.
The guys I mentioned above could easily fall out of the first round.

FOR THE RECORD
5 of the 7 are a lock for 1st rd . Butler and Nicks are the only ones who could slide . Butler I think will be Pat , Fin or aTitan . Now Nicks is going to the Giants or 1 of these teams possible trade up to get him Browns ,Rams ,Fins ,Jags or Raiders if they go with OT at 7th pick

I think you have a chance.
But I don’t see how all of these guys go round 1. I think if you add these players to the players in our mock that you have 35-40 “first round locks”. More people than spots. Someone has to fall. I just don’t know who.

Sean Smith , Max Unger , Phil Loadholt , Ron Brace , Alex Mack , Larry English and Michael Johnson or Kenny Britt .

I don't think Loadholt or Johnson will fall out of the first. The others are realistic.

And I HIGHLY doubt that Mack makes it out of the first.

I agree he’s 1st rd talent ,But it’s just rare for centers to go in the 1st rd .
by BigUgly on Mar 25, 2009 11:09 PM EDT up reply actions
3 teams might go for him
Mini, Pitsburg and Miami. They all need a legit, strong centre. I don’t see mack getting past all three.
by CanadianBillsFan on Mar 25, 2009 11:13 PM EDT up reply actions
I’m sure San Diego wouldn’t mind him either
by CanadianBillsFan on Mar 25, 2009 11:14 PM EDT up reply actions
I think Miami and Min took care of center in FA and Pitt is smart enough to draft a LB or CB in the 1st because the drop off in talent is greater then at C
