SS Roy Williams anyone?
OK< so I know Williams always underachieved in Dallas and is a bit of a head case. That said he's still a great Strong Safety, and while I have faith in Bryan Scott, it'd be nice to have a head hunter back there to give receivers something to think about.
Williams isn't a great cover guy and gets burned sometimes, but he is amazing supporting the run and punishing receivers. I'd love to pair him back there with Donte Whitner. Whitner is a hard hitter himself and a much better coverage guy. Pair the two of them in the secondary and receivers are going to be shaking in their cleats with two of the hardest hitting safeties in the game.
Forget last year when Williams only played in 3 games.
2007- 93 tackles, 72 solo, 5 passes defended, 2 INT
2006- 62 tackles, 52 solo, 14 passes defended, 5 INT
2005- 81 tkls, 69 solo, 10 passes defended, 3 INT, 3 Forced Fumbles
2004- 94 tkls, 73 solo, 2 INT, forced fumble
Whitner
2008- 61 tkls, 50 solo, pass defended, forced fumble 0 INT
2007- 89 tkls, 68 solo, 1 pass defended, 1 forced fumble, 1 INT
2006- 104 tkls, 67 solo, 5 passes defended, INT
Ko Simpson 2006 & 2008 combined (we'll forget 2007 when he missed most of the year)
143 tkls, 102 solo, 6 apsses defended, forced fumble, 2 INT
Bryan Scott 2007 & 2008 combined
97 tkls, 77 solo, 4 passes defended, sack, 2 forced fumbles, 0 INT
Williams looks like an upgrade to me. At the very least maybe this post will get people to stop talking about another recently released Cowboy whom I shall call He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, who I would HATE to see in a Bills uniform. Thoughts anyone?

Great move
They can bring him to the line as a 4th linebacker, he could even play linebacker in some situations and safety in others. He would provide a mean streak this D needs, a few earlyt season horse collars and his reputation will be restored.

we idscussed him about two months ago
and i’ll admit his number LOOK good, but the vast majority of those tackles came against the run. he looks lost in coverage more often than not.
I’m i bit on the fence on him though, i mean i like him, but i don’t. would be interesting if Brian could get more info on him.

Yep
It was a story I did about using him as a LB instead of S, mainly due to his limited DB coverage skills and that he likes to hit people.

Sorry, no.
With the defensive system Perry runs, I’ve always been an advocate of a stud Safety. We don’t need minor upgrade. The money spent on such an minor upgrade is not worth it. If the Bills are going to do, they’ll need to do it in a big way.

If Sean Jones doesn’t come here, and Scott breaks his hip in a freak unicycling accident and we can’t trade for somebody and we can’t get anybody in the first 5 rounds of the draft, I’ll consider it.

No and.............................. still no
too small, can’t cover the pass and oh we already have someone like that at safety. WHITNER. No thanks, I don’t even like Whitner. How about the above mentioned SEAN JONES!!

Wait. I agree with you – I don’t think Williams is a smart investment – but how is a 6’0", 225-pound safety “too small”?

WAIT!
I’ve been fooled by this game before.
Can you catch the ball? Do you fumble after the catch regularly? Have you ever played tight end for the Washington Redskins?
If the answer to any of these is yes, I recommend you go talk to the Browns.

its the way he plays
he constantly puts himself in bad positions, taking him out of the play. I have seen him jump for numerous balls, trying to break up passes and the guy whiffs. Truly – I think he is too heavy for his height.

Can you hear that?
It’s the sound of Roy Williams committing a horse collar as we speak. I don’t even know who he would be horse collaring during the offseason but hes doing it right now and he freakin does it all the time during games

hurt his shoulder that way. :)

You forgot his staple stats
- of horsecollar tackles
- of personal fouls

i think i’d consider his nasty attitude a strength for such a soft defense.
doesn't buy posluzny.

agreed JPH
Im not sure if I want him but we need to get tougher
