Around SBN: Clippers Need To Realize That Spurs Are The Anti-Grizzlies

A two-year starter on the Colts at weak-side linebacker, Keiaho met with Bills coaches today. Last season he had 114 tackles, 2 QB pressures, and 2 fumble recoveries playing in Indy's Tampa 2.

Look's like we are pretty serious about signing a free agent linebacker guys.

I'd take him over June

younger, more tackles, desn’t use week arm tackles like June does, and has the strength to be switched to the strong side. He just passd June as a prefference in my book… But i’d still rather get Mike Peterson.

same here

Freddie K.O. just leap frogged Cato June in my book. Sort of like what happened in Indy years ago too…Cato can’t shed this guy.

I jumped over Stampede Blue. I’ll post a few comments in a sec. Not looking too good, tho.

Haha

I did the same thing. This was “KingRichards” reply:

He sounds very familiar…oh yeah! I remember him!

On a serious note, his coverage skills are a liability. He above average against the run for a while, but he started taking on bad habits; overpursuing, failure to shed blocks, etc. He’s still young and has potential though.

by Zumone on Mar 5, 2009 4:45 PM EST up reply actions

Restricted free agent that didn’t get tendered. Here’s some comments I found from posters at Stampede Blue:

I know, this is really premature, but after Keiaho’s dismal performance last season, I don’t see the Colts offering him anything…
That’s not good, looks like the Colts may end up keeping Haggler. But then again no one could want Kiaho.
He just never panned out.he was a serious underacheiever and that’s why they cut ties. …he flashed some talent…but he just doesn’t make the cut…..

I posted over there...

Freddie

I’ll start with him as a person: Freddie is a super guy. He’s the kind of person the infects your locker room with positive energy and toughness. When you see him play, when you hear him talk, you immediately like him. High effort on every down. Big motor. Very much wants to be the guy to make the play. Absolutely loves playing football. Had a competition with MLBer Gary Brackett to see who could get the most tackles each year.

As a LBer, he hits like a mack truck. He will flat out drill people if he lines them up, forcing fumbles and (in many cases) knocking them out of the game. His nickname in Indy was Freddie K.O. He is disciplined and knows the Tampa-2 well. Ideal quickness and speed to play WILL or MIKE in Tampa-2. Sideline to sideline speed. Good recognition.

A liability sometimes in coverage, though he did improve. Solid against the run, but not great. He has struggled the last two years with injuries. Since starting, he has had issues staying on the field. Can play special teams.

Overall, he isn’t a star, but he is a good guy to have as your LBer.

Freddie, without question

Cato June is an outstanding coverage linebacker, but he is one of the worst LBers I’ve ever seen trying to tackle running backs.

MIKE

Many within the Colts thought Freddie was a better MIKE than WILL, but since Brackett was the MIKE, they switched him to WILL.

- Peterson
- Keiaho

I still think that our best option would be Peterson. Good MLB and allows Puz to move at OLB

by CanadianBillsFan on Mar 5, 2009 4:39 PM EST up reply actions

I think at some point over the summer, when there’s nothing else to talk about, we should have a referendum on Bills nicknames.

- Is it Poz or Puz?
- Is it Action Jackson or FredEx?
- Is it Beast Mode or Beef Moe?
And then we could give nicknames to the rest of the team.

Somebody put that in my “Good Ideas Folder”.

I know people dont like him because he stinks at tackling but I think hes amazing in coverage. That said, Freddie K.O.has passed June on my list as well after reading from the Colts fans. Our defense needs attitude not more reactive play and Freddie can obviously deliver a massive blow. I like it.

From Stampede Blue
Strenght-young and a decent takler
Weakness-Teams will pick him out and pass right through him. He is very weak in pass coverage. As for moving him to WILL? He wanted to much money and not realy worth the big pay check for the Colts. Could be a good project for the Bills. One mans trash is another mans tressure. And hey, dont try to wrong us again by trying to give us a crappy DT. – colts9318rock
Can really hit when he wants to
Last year he showed flashes of being a potential star, this year – not so much.

He is pretty injury prone, also, his weaknesses in pass coverage were magnified by the fact he was playing will, he’d probably do better at SAM, but he is undersized. – furrycolt

One more thing from Stampede Blue:
Cato June is the opposite of Keiaho:
amazing cover guy, but if he doesn’t have a DL to protect him from the running game and DBs to clean up his tackling mistakes it’ll be ugly. – shake n bake

So he’s a guy that can get by if he’s not forced to do anything? Perfect fit for us then! Oh wait, nevermind.
