Five best/worst moves....
Let's face it. With today's signing of Terrell Owens, the Bills have made either the best or worst personnel move since the Levy era. I don't feel there will be any grey area. Obviously, only time will tell.
That being said, with hopes of stimulating a little bit of friendly football debate, I wanted to highlight what I feel are the top 5 best and worst personnel moves since the end of the Levy/Kelly/Smith etc. era. Feel free to critique......
5 Best Moves:
1.) Day One 2007 NFL Draft: I think it's safe to say that the addition of Lynch, Poz and Edwards in 3 consecutive rounds gave the Bills their foundation for the foreseeable future.
2) The Peerless Price Trade: Brilliant! Who knew we would get a first round pic for him! Atlanta looked pretty foolish after the dumped him a few years later.
3) Aquiring Takeo Spikes: Take away his ruptured achilles, he might still be the focal point of our defense. We took advantage of a dumb move on Cinci's part.
4) Signing Jason Peters: Who would guess that an undrafted TE would turn into a perennial Pro Bowler at tackle.
5) Drafting Terrence McGee in the 4th: With all the first day pics we've used to attempt to solidify our defensive backfield, he has turned out to be a great value pic in the 4th. He might never be a superstar, but he's been a solid performer
5 Worst Moves
1) Trading up for John McCargo: His performance over the past few years have solidified my opinion that he should have went no higher than the 5th round. I got extremely excited when I saw the Bills traded up, but that all went away when i realized who it was for. I really figured it would be for Winston Justice, due to the fact many mock drafts had us taking him with our first pic.
2) Drafting Willis Mcgahee: Yes, Travis Henry has spun off the face of the planet, but you could argue that we used a 1st rounder to address arguably the least needed position that year.
3) Trading up for JP Losman: Many teams didn't even consider him a first day pick. I think his performance with us has proven them right
4) Giving Dockery $49 million: no explanation needed
5) Rob Johnson: As if giving a 1st round pic for him weren't enough, we dump Flutie to keep him! Horrible!
Feel free to critique or come up with your own....

How could you forget????
The selection of OT Mike Williams with the 4th overall pick of the draft?
BTW, we gave up a 1st and a 4th for Rob Johnson. Jax used the first to grab Fred Taylor.
I've been feeling Buffalo ill.

very true
Yes, Williams would probably bump Dockery off.

yeah, despite Johnson
Lets be honest, if we would have played Flutie and won the game, we would have dumped Johnson’s big salerie in the summer and would have never needed Drew Bledsoe. Flutie was pure gold in a bills uniform

That doesnt really matter.......
only the Bills would bench the healthy quarterback that led your team to the playoffs for an overpriced pretty boy……………
I had faith that Flutie could take us to the promised land…….and Rob Johnson woulda choked in the 2nd round…….

Take Peerless off that list.
Seriously. Yeah, he never lived up to his potential but that’s more because he was a number 2 WR forced to play number 1. He still put up more yards (and almost TDs) than anyone on the Bills his first year in the ATL and the next year doubled up our 3rd receiver. I’m not sure how you can brag that he brought in a #1 pick when that pick became #2 on your worst moves list.
Moulds, Evans, Price, Reed would have been pretty damn good.

Couple problems.
McCargo was a highly-rated DT and you thought he was a 5th round talent? How do you pick 5th vs. 4th anyways? He was at worst worth a second round pick.
McGahee played really well here and then we got a draft pick back in trade for him. McGahee was a fine pick by the Bills.
“Many teams didn’t have [JP Losman] as a first day pick” What teams? On his skill set alone (which is great) he was a first day pick. His decision-making on the other hand… Many teams also had him ranked as a top 3 QB in the draft.
