Cross Pettigrew off Bills' wish list...
"The tight end position is one of the Buffalo Bills needs heading into the draft, but don't expect the Bills to take Oklahoma State TE Brandon Pettigrew with their first round pick. Pettigrew was arrested on Jan. 20, 2008 on complaints of assault and battery on a police officer and public intoxication. Prosecutors originally charged Pettigrew with felony assault and battery on a police officer, but reached a plea agreement with Pettigrew in which he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and battery, and misdemeanor public intoxication in the incident. Although this was an isolated incident, with the recent arrests of Donte Whitner, Marshawn Lynch and Ko Simpson, I highly doubt if the Bills' braintrust will take a chance on any prospect with character issues in the upcoming draft."

Yeah… that’s just the man’s opinion. Trust me – Pettigrew is in no way off the Bills’ wish list.

I thought that it would help bridge the topic of whether or not the Bills should think harder about picking a guy with incidents like this in their past, given the recent run-in some of their players have had.
The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.
I honestly think that Whitner’s arrest will have zero effect on the types of players the team brings in.

I think the talent of this guy will trump the one altercation he had with the cops.
And commons guys, we ALL did stupid stuff as young men, heck some of us are still doing dumb things… ok we might not get arrested for them, but you get my point. I’m sure that this incident will NOT affect the Bills jugement… or at least it shouldn’t

Pettigrew
Come on!!!!!!!!!!!! With the needs the bills have at OL OLB DE and TE. How could Pettigrew be on their wish list. If he is as good as everyone says, he will be long gone when the Bills pick in the 3rd round. You know they have to address the O line OLB way before TE.
Bob, “wish list” doesn’t mean they’re absolutely going to draft him. It just means they like him, and if they can find a reasonable way to get him, they’d like to do it. Slow breaths… :)

So they couldn’t take an OLB in the third and still address the position?
When drafting, I highly doubt that any team says, “well our next biggest need in DE so we will take the highest rated DE left on the board regardless of who he is.”
Just because the Bills have big needs at LB and O-line (and I agree with you that those are bigger needs then TE) doesn’t mean that the first two picks are going to be LB and O-line.

I get the idea behind what Fronczak is saying here, but I really disagree. I think that the Bills will do their due-diligence and if they are fine with Pettigrew they will take him.

Why?
I think that the Bills will do their due-diligence
Do I really have to list the players the Bills have done their due diligence on who have gotten into trouble? Maybe the Bills need to fire their Head of Due-Diligence?

Exactly
Did they not do it in the past?
Wasn’t Marshawn a shady character heading into the draft already?
Didn’t Whitner already have an arrest?

Which character is Jauron?
More importantly who is the Abominable Snowmonster?

Jauron (in combination with all the talent evaluators) is Yukon Cornelius – constantly tossing up his pick in the air, letting it land wherever, and after examining it, coming up with, “Nothin’”. Sounds like the Bills talent evaluators and the draft picks.

You know the first year Rudolph came out, there was no happy ending for the misfit toys and they were just left on the island to rot. So many people called and complained after the first airing that they had to film a scene where Santa saves them and include it in the end to give them a happy ending. That’s the version we now see today.
I love useless movie trivia.
