Anyone have ESPN insider??? Parrish Rumor

It pretty much says that we are looking for a 4th round choice but will probably get a 5th rounder.  It also says that the Redskins seem to be interested.  I am curious to see what the rest of the story has to say... maybe something about a Kelsey trade (at-least I hope so).

I think it would be great for us to get a 4th and a 5th for Roscoe and Kelsey.  I think it would set us up great to move up in the draft. If we unloaded Kelsey's and Roscoe's salary, it would allow us to move up and possibly have an extra 1st (give us 3) or 2nd (give us 2) or another 3rd and be able to afford the salaries.

What do you guys think of the rumor?

What do you think of paragraph two?

It would be difficult for the Redskins to trade a 4th for Parrish since they don’t have one. They also don’t have a 2nd and their only pick in the 7th is compensatory. If you only had a 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th would you be trading away picks?

They could always do on for next year.

The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.

by sireric on Apr 18, 2009 9:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i doubt you would be, unless your REALLY lke the player your trading for. Personally I think that Roscoe will bring you back a lot more than any 5th round pick available, so the Redskins would probably be willing and ready to trade that pick. The question is: Will OBD settle for a 5th rounder?

Personally I have no problem keeping Roscoe if we don’t receive a 4th in return.

Anyone know if the Chiefs are interested in Parrish?

Pretty much my stance. I think Roscoe is even more valuable that a 4th, but I don’t disagree with getting that in return for him.

Remember, we don’t HAVE to trade him and it’s not like he’s losing his job or performing poorly.

It's more of a locker room problem

Roscoe want’s to play and the Bills have never figured out how to use him. The problem that I see is that the arrival of Owens has pushed him down to the 4rth but in fact, Steve Johnson’s play last year has probably pushed Roscoe into the 5th spot and if James Hardy is healthy then in fact it pushes Roscoe into the 6th spot. He won’t be happy.

Plus, Jenkins is a very good special teams player so I doubt they want to let him go and the fact that both Freddy Jackson & Leodis can both return punts makes Roscoe the odd man out. What ever they can get they should and just move on.

Jenkins is nothing special. He was non-existent last year, and was outplayed on ST’s by Stevie Johnson, IMO, despite playing in many more games. Jenkins isn’t a guy I hope they worry about finding a spot for.

No, but the Redskins would. I think the real issue with Washington trying to trade for Roscoe is his 3 mil cap figure. I’m not sure they can afford it.

by kaisertown on Apr 18, 2009 9:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well, with Dan Snyder anything is possible. He’s traded away just about his entire draft in previous years…

by Ron From NM on Apr 18, 2009 10:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nothing surprising about Roscoe’s potential trade value.

Unloading salaries like Kelsay or Parrish will in no way have an impact on Buffalo’s willingness to move up. After the top 5-10 picks, rookie salaries are very reasonable. For Buffalo to move up from 28 or 43 or the later rounds will barely cost them more in player salaries. The extra picks they might get in return for those players is what gives them the flexibility to trade up.

I have the feeling that the Bills will release Kelsey if they can’t trade him. He’s got a high salery but no up front money comming to him this year, if they release him, they don,t have to pay him anything.

Exactly, I think Kelsay is dead meat if Ayers is the pick

Or if anyone is taken at the DE position that the team thinks can replace him in a season or so. Denney is better right now, and cheaper, so I think Kelsay becomes expendable, BUT they will try to get something for him so they have ammo for moving up either in the 1st or 2nd rounds.

I think thats why they will hold onto Roscoe until the draft unless someone blows them out of the water for him as ammo to move in the draft.

If the Bills were a drug, I could only hope they were like speed so I could lose some weight as well.

I agree with you and our Canadian friend. Kelsay is a likely cut if the Bills draft Ayers or a different LE in the first couple of rounds. If they were to draft a rusher like English or Barwin they would definitely keep Kelsay. In this defense, the left defensive end and right defensive end are totally different positions. More different than SS and FS are. I might put a post up about what kind of prospects Buffalo would be looking for on defense. Then again, there have been a TON of posts since the Peters trade.

My thoughts exactly…. Hey is anyone else wondering where K is for all of the trade/release Kelsey talks? One would think that these are the happiest days of his life as a Bills fan :-P

by CanadianBillsFan on Apr 18, 2009 9:45 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’ve been super busy, but I’ve responded to some of the posts about him. I can’t get my hopes up, I just can’t. Hearing about a Kelsay deal on the table and then it not happening would be almost as crushing as the Bills’ collapse last year….almost

Cutting Kelsay would be more satisfying than trading him for a 7th or future pick. (maniacal) hahahahahahhahahahaha

Admit it

You’re hoping some Matt Millen-wannabe (if there were such a hapless creature) coughs up a 3rd rounder for him.

by Ron From NM on Apr 19, 2009 10:20 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Even Matt Millen isn’t that dumb. I’m trying to be realistic here, who in their right mind (other than the Bills) would give anything more than a 7th rounder for him?

A team that...

values special teams. I don’t think we will receive a 4th, but I think a 5th round selection is worth it to a team that is a contender and looking to add specials teams talent that will complement their O and D. I think we end up holding out on trading Roscoe until we see that 4th or early 5th being offered.

We were talking about Kelsay!

Here is the full text from the article

The trade of Jason Peters doesn’t put the Buffalo Bills in the market for a left tackle. Langston Walker will move from right tackle to the left side of the line that Peters is being shipped to Philadelphia.

With their first pick (No. 11), the Bills are expected to select a defensive player, most likely a pass-rusher or linebacker, in the upcoming NFL draft. With the No. 28 pick, they can zero in on right tackle candidates.

Don’t think that the Bills are done with trades. They continue to shop wide receiver Roscoe Parrish, and a natural fit for him would be the Redskins. Ideally, the Bills would like to get a fourth-round pick for Parrish, but the odds favor them receiving a fifth-rounder. Expect something to get done with Parrish either before or during the draft.

Jackson’s suitors: One of the interesting things to watch is what happens to LSU defensive end Tyson Jackson. He seems like a natural fit for the San Diego Chargers, who have the 16th pick in the draft, but the Denver Broncos could take him at No. 12, hoping he would be able to start immediately in their 3-4 defense. Also worth considering is that Broncos coach Josh McDaniels is a Bill Belichick disciple, and Belichick has had a lot of success with LSU products.

Edwards cheaper for Giants? The New York Giants are playing their trade hand for a wide receiver in an interesting way. They apparently aren’t willing to offer a first-round pick for Anquan Boldin, even though the Cardinals are making it known they want a first- and third-rounder in return for him. The Giants, according to a source, are talking more in the range of second- and fifth-round picks, which could indicate they might be able to get Braylon Edwards away from the Cleveland Browns for less than a first and third.

If the Bills were a drug, I could only hope they were like speed so I could lose some weight as well.

Roscoe, Kelsay and our 11th for KC's 3rd overall pick...?

Hello Aaron Curry…
Just been thinking about that all day, and how awesome it would be…oh well

I’ve been on Arrowhead Pride a few times today and trust me when I say that they want to move out of the third spot and that they do NOT like Curry. Although I think that it would take more then that to move up to the 3rd overall pick… and that I also doubt OBD is willing to pay top three money to any rookie.

by CanadianBillsFan on Apr 19, 2009 1:07 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

roscoe, kelsay and 11th

That’s too much to give up to move into that spot. I hope we trade down to 14-18, and pick up an extra 2 or 3. Use the cap savings to extend Jackson.

Why not Bobby April?

by nickdaniels on Apr 19, 2009 11:24 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Come on

Kelsay stinks, and Roscoe is a luxury….Curry and Poz solidifies the LB corps for years, and if we are good (or not) we can draft another LB in the first or 2nd next year to develop behind Mitchell, or take his place and cut him.

I know we need a tackle as well, but with our 28th and maybe another pick we could move right back up.
Either way, Curry is worth the money, and the bills, no matter what Allen Wilson says in the Buffalo News, will spend the money, when a player has the drive to be the best, and doesn’t just ole’ Joey Porter and allow him to murder our QB

Too much?

HAHAHAHAHA

I’d say it’s nowhere near enough. In fact, I think the Chiefs would just giggle and hang up.

Exactly

It would never happen…in fact I don’t see outside of a tackle, why KC wouldn’t take Curry. Often, a linebacker can be that star force on the defense, and if KC has their offensive star in Cassel (I don’t think that but they probably do) then they should take Curry, not a tackle

they don’t want Kelsay.

And they’re currently trying to convert Hali to LB and reports are saying that it’s not going well. Maybe he could be had for cheap. Hali would fit perfectly in our scheme.

heard the steelers are interested as well guys….

What do you guys think the main reasons for the trade are and what would you expect the steelers to give up for him?

I'll drink your Milkshake, I'll drink it up!

by drinkyourmilkshake on Apr 19, 2009 7:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well for the Steelers or Chiefs or whoever is interested, the reasons are obvious. Those teams had dreadful punt return units and Parrish gives them a threat to score in a way that they currently can’t.

For the Bills, Roscoe is expendable because they no longer need him as WR depth and more importantly, Leodis McKelvin and Fred Jackson can handle the punt return duties without much of a dropoff. So while Parrish may be worth a late fourth or early fifth round pick to some other team, he doesn’t really have that value here because the Bills can replace him with players already on the roster.

Since the Steelers won the Super Bowl and have a very late pick in each round, I would hope that Buffalo can get their 4th round pick. I think a different team like the Chiefs could definitely get him for a fifth. The Bills could also use Parrish to move up at some point during the draft. They could swap picks with KC in the third round and maybe even get them to throw in a 6th or 7th or something along those lines.
