How come we keep trading great players to playoff contenders? Something about that just doesn’t compute.

Who ever said Parrish was/is a great player?

by krytime on Apr 19, 2009 8:51 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He’s not a great receiver, but he’s obviously the best punt returner out there, and since Holmes started to prove himself as a receiver last year (and somewhat did with his SB performance), and they cut Gary Russell, and for whatever reason won’t/can’t/no longer have Mewelde Moore ( I have no idea), they need a great PR like Roscoe

He’s the best punt returner in the game, how can you not call him great? He’s def expendable with McKelvin on the roster, but he’s still a great player.

If he was great, people would be knocking down the doors to get him for a fourth.

Appears as if they are.

Well if there was a real competition, and teams were knocking down the doors, wouldn’t it be for more than a fourth?

I agree that parrish is good, but I think Bobby April has alot to do with that stat.

Agreed

If the Bills were a drug, I could only hope they were like speed so I could lose some weight as well.

So we want Leo to start at CB and be the full-time KR and PR??? That’s not happening….

Given the Steelers’ track record in the front office and with the draft, I have a feelingthey’re gonna find a way to get him for one of those fish tacos from Mighty Taco

by Hybrid1486 on Apr 19, 2009 9:00 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

...

If fish tacos from Mighty Taco means a fourth rounder, then yes, but anything less, the answer should be no. We don’t need more youngsters on this roster, then we already have. Yeah, the guy may be good for no more than 25 catches per season, but he’s still an electric returnman, who can indeed make a difference as a punt returner.

by BillsfanfromDenmark on Apr 19, 2009 9:07 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

So let me get this right – fish taco means a fourth rounder, correct? From now on when making mention as to whether or not a guy is a first day or second day guy, we can also add something like “Well, he’s not a first day guy, but definitely a fish taco or better on day two.”

Here’s my thougt on Parrish – let another OC figure out how to get him the ball. Maybe a change in system or scheme or whatever will do him good. Also, you have to think that if he’s being reported as trade bait, Bobby April signed off on it. If April said they need to keep him for the benefit of the return game, I highly doubt we’d be talking about Parrish at all this off season.

by krytime on Apr 19, 2009 9:14 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Compensation?

What would the compensation be for him?

I think a 6th is not enough for the best return man in the league – I know he’s salary is up there but he’s not that expensive and he gives us a dynamic threat in the field position game. I dont’ know if we could get a third but I think he’s worth a mid to late 3rd round pick – that might be a little much – but I don’t think we should give him up for peanuts.

The rest of you go get the goods on Stan. His mom grounded him once for setting something on fire. Let's find out what that something was and then lie and say it was a puppy.

by J2 on Apr 19, 2009 9:26 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Pittsburgh has two 5th round picks and two 7th round picks and one pick in each other round.

The have back to back picks in the 5th round, (picks 168 and 169). The second pick (169) is compensatory so they wouldn’t be able to trade that pick away.

They also have two 7th round picks… (226 and 241).

Let’s hope Roscoe is at least worth the 168 pick rather than one of the lower picks.

We never were able to get him the ball effectively in space to take advantage of his skills. Our OC coordinators kept talking about doing it more, but they would only call 3-4 plays a game.

Roscoe will do better on another team, our offense was not creative enough. He won’t be a star though and will be a stud on some one else’s special teams.

The development and size of Steve Johnson last year is creating this opening (plus of course TO being here this year).

Even if he is a luxury to have...

they aren’t trading him for nothing. It will be a fourth or higher or they won’t do it.

The Bills just got screwed over in the Peters trade.

Now, I’d like to see the Bills screw over another team in a Parrish trade (3rd round pick), if it means recovering some of the overall value that the Bills’ roster has lost (Peters and Parrish).

Great plays don't make great players; great players make great plays.

yea, that would be nice to get a 3rd round pick for him.

Regarding Parrish, I’ve very quickly gotten to the point of, “Just tell me when a deal is done.”

by thefourwinds on Apr 19, 2009 10:24 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I see no reason to trade away Parrish unless we get AT LEAST a 4th rounder

Trading Parrish id NOT necessary, therefore, unless we get a 4th or better, I see absolutly no reason to trade him. And in Pittsburg’s case (where their pick is the last of every round) I’m expecting at keast a 4th AND a 5th… or a third would be nice.

by CanadianBillsFan on Apr 19, 2009 11:05 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Parrish

I don’t like the idea of trading him at all. Turk needs to just get him more involved. I think that task will be a lot easier this year.

Why not Bobby April?

Not with TO, Evans, getting Hardy is catches, and seeing what Johnson has.

Oh yeah…how could I forget Josh Reed.

I'm suspect on how much 3/4/5 wideout formations we are going to see.

The Bills’ offensive line is very much uncertain at this point. Sure, it’s a West Coast offense (short, quick passing), Trent Edwards has a quick release, and Owens is great at getting yards after the catch. But if the Bills want to run anything deeper than a 3-step drop with deeper routes, they might need to go max protection with tight ends/backs staying in to block, which also means less receivers running routes. Not to mention other blocking scheme adjustments such as slide protections, rollouts (which limits where most quarterbacks can throw), etc. Who knows how much Reed, Johnson, Hardy, and Parrish will see the field anyway.

All of this is mostly due to the loss of Jason Peters, which may have more domino effects on the entire team than many fans want to realize.

Great plays don't make great players; great players make great plays.

I think we will see alot of 2 TE sets this season on the field for the O

Especially if we somehow land Pettigrew, which means we have only 2 WRs out on the field, most likely Evans and TO. And even if we go only one TE, we will only see TO, Evans and Hardy/Reed/Johnson out there.

If the Bills were a drug, I could only hope they were like speed so I could lose some weight as well.

by WABillsfan on Apr 19, 2009 2:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

A 4th rounder (hopefully) for our 6th WR and a PR that can be replaced with Jackson would be fine by me

For Jmes Harrison straight up

But seriously, I’d like to get a player rather than a draft pick..but i don’t think that would compute

What type of player would you like? As in, what position? Are you only thinking about Waters or do you have other players in mind?

Well

Just reading this, and not researching other teams rosters, it if a team has a log jam at safety, FB, LB or OL…basically any of our “need” positions, that would be good. Even like when we got Hargrove, it didn’t pan out,. but he was young with upside, and i think we got him from St. Louis for a 4th or something, I forget…but something like that….but maybe a late round pick as well, since on the right team, like the Steelers, he is the special teams home run hitter they may be lacking and an interesting possibility on I

possibility on O I mean

But, I was just throwing it out there because outside of Waters, the only speculation is a draft pick…which I guess I am fine with

the return game?

what i meant to say was: with leodis becoming our number 2 cb and fred being our feature back for the foreseeable future, it can’t hurt to alleviate some of the pressure those two would have when starting, and doing some returns. I’d like to hold onto roscoe at least until week 4/5 to see where we stand unless somehow a trade satisfies a position we really need help in, i.e. not the slot position. trade him later, when we see leodis can handle the start and special teams

Later Losman!

by rockybillboa on Apr 19, 2009 11:53 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah or they could just draft a guy

who can at least handle some PR duties if Leodis is “overwhelmed”.

I have no problem with this trade b/c he is not playing up to his contract. We have given him an extension based on the assumption that he will end up being a very good slot WR for us along with being a premier PR, but he hasn’t done the former so I have no problem moving him and getting his contract off our books.

You take that pick and draft a RB or WR that has some experience in the return game as well and have him be the backup utility guy.

by Renegade23 on Apr 19, 2009 12:10 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think we see a 6th CB drafted that has mad return skills ala Terrance McGee a few years back

That will be what the Bills do if we move Roscoe in my opinion.

If the Bills were a drug, I could only hope they were like speed so I could lose some weight as well.

Pittsburgh makes tons of sense and here is why:

We need to stop looking for a team who needs WR help and only consider teams that are looking for that dynamic punt returner. Nobody would even give up a 7th round pick for Roscoe Parrish the WR, but a few teams would give up a 5th rounder and maybe someone will even give up a 4th for the best PR in the NFL. Pittsburgh had one of the worst PR units in the league last year and for a team with as good of a defense as their’s, that’s not the smartest combination.

by kaisertown on Apr 19, 2009 12:47 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Not only that- they’re also a very good team with just a few holes to plug. A fourth rounder is probably a lot more valuable to us than it is to them…I would guess.

Penn Staters belong at Penn State. The problem with a lot of kids is they just don’t know they are Penn Staters yet.

A fourth Round Pick?

McCoverage- McGee and McKelvin :D

by Toronto? on Apr 19, 2009 12:52 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I would think a 4th from Pittsburgh because it’s the last pick in the round before the comp picks. Buffalo probably gets a fifth from most teams though.

Question….What do people think about the possible trade between the Jags and Bills thats rumored on eastcoastsportsnews.com

by billsct11 on Apr 19, 2009 1:37 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

If you are looking for a silver lining,

we didn’t even spend a pick on Peters and we are getting a 1st, 4th, and 6th round pick for him. We could do this exercise all day long.

Great plays don't make great players; great players make great plays.

I’m still not sure what to think. And a big part of that is the difference between Pittsburgh’s 5th round pick and KC’s 5th. It’s like a 30 pick difference. If I were Buffalo I would be holding out for a 4th rounder from the Steelers, but would maybe settle for thier 5th on draft day if that was the best offer we got. I would maybe just hold onto Roscoe at that point too.
