I want your opinion.
I just put this as a comment under the A. Smith scouting report. i want to hear what people on this site have to say.
Look call me crazy, or whatever. Peters or no Peters, i say we take this kid at Eleven. Now hear me out. If Peters is traded, we play Smith at left tackle. he can under the right teacher become a good, maybe great left tackle in the nfl.(my opinion)…im then assuming we get another first rounder for Peters….With the other first rounder take whatever Pass rusher, or OLB that offers the best value at that particular pick. Then we get Duke Robinson or Alex Mack/ Max Unger/Wood (u debate who is better) with our second. In our first three picks we have dumped the Baggage of Peters, Solidified LT and Rg ( i would move Brad Butler to LG) and got a pass rusher or OLB in the 1st round as well. (I would say go pass rusher, cause we can sign another backer in free agency later on. it seems to be the deepest position still left in free agency). With our third round pick we get whatever tight end OBD sees as its top prospect. In my mind TE has become more of a luxary pick because of the holes in our lines. we can’t afford to take Pettigrew in the first, not when it is not a huge position of need. Then, after the third we draft for depth at Guard/ol, DT, RB and SS.
Option Two. this only happens if we resign Peters. If this guy is going to be just as Good at Guard as people say. why dont we still get him at eleven? with so many questionable players to pick through at 11, why dont we make sure the Gaping hole at RG( again moving Butler to LG) is filled for the next 10 yrs? I for one have had enough of putting together a ragtag combo of over priced free agents and “hard workers” to make the “OL” that we fielded for so long. Defense was not our problem last year. we stayed in games thanks to them. O-lines will make or break a football team. My projected oline would consist of (l to R) Peters, Butler, Hang, A. Smith, Walker. pretty solid.
We can still get a pass rusher in round two and save round three for a tight end. look to free agency for olb help. then draft a RB to push Omon. A space eating DT. A project ol man. SS help. Not necessarily in that order. but you get my drift. Now i might be out of my mind or not. Let me know what you think.
