Could Raji testing positive be a positive for the Bills?

Another top defensive tackle, Warren Sapp, fell to the #12 overall pick in the 1995 NFL draft, apparently due to allegations that he tested positive for marijuana. Imagine if Raji is available at #11?

Just don’t do what Mario Manningham did last year and lie about it. I’m guessing that pro personnel understand that these kids sometimes make mistakes; at least take responsibility and own up to it.

As I said before it got zapped

Luis Castillo tested positive and it didn’t stop the Chargers from taking him in the first. I don’t see this hurting his stock to awful much.

The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.

Castillo took the steriod to help injury heal faster .He told teams he would give back signing bonus if he had a postive test.

These kids know they are getting tested at the combine.

It’s an announced test. You can supposedly get around any test if you know about it in advance. It’s just silly to get caught at the combine.

Not good for Raji. Assuming this is marijuana, then its at least the 2nd time he has tested positive for it.

I just don’t get it – I mean – I don’t care if they smoke or whatever – but these guys could potentially be throwing millions away. How dumb can you be?

he might not fall depending on the substance – but if you knew that you were guaranteed a job that pays you millions wouldn’t you at least have a clean system?

Yeah, if you’re invited to the combine, you know you’re under the microscope. I heard that some guys spend 6+ hours at the “hospital” being evaluated. It’s a big deal, they should be aware.

I work for a Fortune 500 company, and I like me a little reefer

But I also know my company tests for drugs when they put you into the hiring process, so I laid off of it for 6 months just to be safe. And my job pays about 30 time LESS than they get just in base salary as a top pick. Cripes guys, use your brains.

If the Bills were a drug, I could only hope they were like speed so I could lose some weight as well.

If he's available at 11, how do you pass him up?

Or, at least answer the trade phones? I see this as a bigger problem for him if it’s performance-enhancing drugs.

Check out "Robin WIlliams Live on Broadway"

One of myy favorite standup of all time. Leary’s “No cure for cancer” is deffinatly in my top 5 though… the other 3 spots in my top five are all held George Carlin. Carlin Was the man when it cam to standup.

So – here’s a question I haven’t seen proposed yet…

If the dude is available at #11, is he a consideration for the Bills now?

I agree with Fort here – just man up. Admit you screwed up, apologize, and move on. Volunteer to do a “Don’t Smoke Pot” commercial or something along those lines.

One thing to keep in mind; fat people have a harder time passing a pot test than skinny people do. And he kind of of carries some pounds, some of which are not all lean muscle mass.

If he took a few bong hits at a frat party – no big deal. If he wakes up in the morning and the first thing he does is to look for the ashtray with the blunt roach in it, then we got a problem.

I for one, will be interested to see how this plays out. Out of curiousity, just asking – did Warren Sapp ever fail a drug test while in the NFL? I can’t remember…

Not that I can remember.

All I remember of his NFL issues were the shouting match w/Mike Sherman after the cheap shot on Kyle Clifton, getting fined for skipping around like a tool and I think he bumped a ref at some point.

If he took a few bong hits at a frat party – no big deal. If he wakes up in the morning and the first thing he does is to look for the ashtray with the blunt roach in it, then we got a problem.

Well, considering this will be his second offense (assuming it is pot) it’s probably somewhere in between (though closer to the problem end.) A casual user doesn’t get popped twice, with one time coming right before the biggest test of his life.

As for Sapp, no he didn’t but he did get lucky on a technicality. He was busted for having pot in his car in his “friend’s backpack” but the judge ruled that there wasn’t enough evidence for a search.

And for the comparisons to Sapp I found this on Niners Nation. I think it’s better than anything I could say.

I’m not so anti-weed. Just worried about guys getting suspended from their job in the NFL because of it. When Sapp got popped I still knew he was a football player, the only worry was whether he would smoke during off day and end up getting suspended because of it. With Raji, I’m not so sure the guy is a football player or a guy with a football player’s body who decided to get his act together this last season because he saw a little pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Having to worry about that and a weed suspension issue really drops him down for me.

Just a second here. And this comes from a wee bit of diagnostic lab experience. I don’t think, and this is just my opinion, that he sparked one right before the combine. Drug testing, per the insurance companies, has gotten extremely sophisticated over the last few years. Technology usually wins. Nowadays, there are tests that can tell if you even “thought” of smoking a joint, let alone if you did or not. And I’m quite certain the NFL uses a lab that tests a helluva a lot better then your local joint (no pun intended).

AND

MArijuana is fat soluable, on the average, it lasts in the system, meaning your blood or urine, for about a month. If you are, extra fit and trim, excercising a lot, it might get out in 2 weeks. But if you are a big fat bastard, it might stick around for more than a month…so he might not smoke all the time, but he could be a dummy. I think though, he waited the month, figured he was fine, but he wasn’t. And that is probably what happened.
I know what i know from experience, I’m guessing a blue chip prospect going to Boston College, doesn’t know the ins and outs of drug testing just yet…not till he’s injured year seven and wants to recover more quickly, or add strength if you know what I mean

The Bills CAN win every game
