YouTube Monday: Round One Bills Targets
We missed YouTube Saturday in these parts thanks to the Buffalo Bills' trade of OT Jason Peters. So in our final YouTube Saturday Monday prior to the 2009 NFL Draft, we'll take a look at the five prospects most likely to be round one targets next weekend. (Note the lack of the phrases "top five guys on Buffalo's board" and "the only five guys the Bills will consider.")
Back on April 7, we named the top five prospects most likely to be Bills. Our views haven't changed - we still believe that Mississippi OT Michael Oher, USC LB Clay Matthews III, Tennessee DE Robert Ayers, Oklahoma State TE Brandon Pettigrew and Alabama OT Andre Smith (in no particular order) are the five guys Bills fans should be keeping their eyes in in round one.
We've got seven videos on these five players in this post for your viewing pleasure. We'll start with Mr. Oher; six of the videos appear after the jump. Enjoy!

Ok Michael Oher is reasonable at 11. I know Galliford you wrote a good piece on the Bills moving up to get Smith, and I can’t see that happening. He has too many questionmarks. Oher can be a solid starter like Long, Thomas, Clady, Albert, and Williams have been in the past 2 years. A lot of people have been worried about the line but a lot of teams started rookie LTs and they have been fine. Rookie LTs are about the opposite as rookie WRs as far as learning curves goes. If Oher is there at 11 they will grab him, if not, we can grab someone at 28, or trade for Waters play guard. To be honest, im happy with the line coming into this season. Bell is a younger Peters, without the ridiculous ego. If we grab one of the pass rushers or USC linebackers no one should be mad, basically the Bills have tone of options at 11 and 28. But I’d be shocked if the Bills move up for someone with as much question marks as Andre Smith even though he has a ton of talent.
Brown at 11
Britton at 28
Mack in 2nd round
Nelson in 3rd round
That would be ideal

I'm with you about Smith
I know he was rated very high, but I’m not completely sold. I’ll admit I’m starting to warm up to the idea of taking a LT at 11, but I wanted to see a defensive playmaker taken there. Maybe Oher is a better option than Smith?

I agree as well.. i just think that there are too many redflags w/ smith.. and i'd rather have Oher.. the guy hasn't given up a sack in 2 years
obviously you have the work ethic issues w/ smith, the weight, and the attitude. One of the biggest red flags i think is the fact that ayers had a field day against him recording 4 sacks, now i know everyone has a bad day, but that’s not a good sign. I think he is a good talent, but i just like oher better.. i’ve actually heard that if oher would have came out last year he would have been the highest rated Tackle coming out, but because he decided to stay his game has been picked apart and his stock has dropped some (which happens to many players that have played at such a high level for so long).

Where are you getting this?!?!?!
Ayers had just 3 sacks last year, 2 against Vandy! He had 4 the prior year year, 2 of which were against Arkansas State the another against So. Miss.
He never had a sack against Alabama, and only had 9 for his career.

Smith only gave up 1 sack in his career I think.
He must be talking about Ayers 1.5 sacks at the Shrine Game or something.

All Im saying is that we aren’t completely finished line-wise, in recent years the top lineman drafted have played very good enough to protect their QBs blindside. Thats all we need. If we draft one of top OL then the Bills are a very scary team in 09

if there isn't an immediate run on tackles
Is there any possible way Oher will last until 28? What about Robert Ayers? I know alot of DEs will be taken but it is a deep class.

I can’t see Oher getting past Detroit if they sign Stafford.

Don’t be so sure about that………. they have a glaring need at DT, that is why in all mock drafts i have seen, there 20th pick is DT.
Are we drafting Dino's now?

I think there’s more of a chance that 4 tackles are taken before pick 11 than Oher falling to the 20s (let alone 28).

Of the 5
I’d grab one of the OT’s. Matthews would be a distant third from this group. Everette Brown is still my guy if we don’t get one of the Tackles.

if any of these 5 drop i think that it would be mathews, now i doubt he'll be there when we select at 28, but of the 5 he has the best chance of being there.
I would have no problem trading up from the 28 spot to snag ayers if he’s there in the late teens early 20’s.

Maybe I am a sucker for a "feel good" story
but I would take a hungry, hard working kid like Oher any day. I will be routing for the Bills to take Oher at #11.

I agree
He seems like a good kid with a very rough childhood. After reading that book, I couldn’t help but feel terrible about his younger days.
