Around SBN: Has Kentucky Improved Since the Non-Conference Season?

We dont have to use 1st pcks on OL.

I for one find it hard to believe a Bills team would trade one of its most important players on the team If they did not have a player on the existing team to cover that postion. Also, it should be mentioned that trading the leaugues best punt returner Roscoe Parrish without having his replacement confirms my suspitions.  I will add Pittsburghs 96th pick.

Ed Bouchette's Steelers-NFL Draft chat transcript Tuesday, April 21, 2009 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

GjSteel: Hi Ed ... what are the chances of the Steelers pulling off the trade for Roscoe Parrish of the Bills on draft day?

Ed Bouchette: I'm trying to think why the Bills would want to trade him? And, if they do, the asking price likely would be too high. On the other hand, the Steelers used a third-round pick on Willie Reid because he could return and play WR and then he could not return or play WR and was a washout. If you could get Parrish for a third, I'd do it because at least he's proven he can do it

I will go one further by saying the week outside Linebacker we covet to replace Keith Ellison may all ready be one this team. We had three players that were injured last year.

LB Alvin Bowen- a sixth rnd pick amazed us all before injuring himself in preseason.

LB Vince Hall- undrafted from Virginia Tech, was considered a top 5 LB coming out in 2006. Has since been bothered by injury.

LB John Digorgio- Started a full season when Pozluzny went down, only to be injured the very next year.

Im not sure how the bills line up next year on the Offensive line, but im sure we dont have to use one of our first picks to upgrade the line. The bills trade from a  postion of strength not weekness. Hence forth my predictions for the upcoming draft.

11th-Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas . For some unknown reason his stock has been falling. We still need a player that can get multiple digit sacks in a year. Even if he only plays situational.

28th Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss He has the bulk and srength to play inside next to Spoud and the speed to play on the Left End.

42nd Duke Robinson, OG, Oklahoma or  Phil Loadholt, OT, Oklahoma , Take your pick here.

75th Chase Coffman, TE, Missouri The Bills have all ready stated that they would take a long look at a Pass cacthing TE even if he dosnt block well. Let the "Derricks" block". Take one of the best Te's here.

96th Javon Ringer, RB, Michigan State I have said it before and I will say it again. "In this leaugue you cant have enough Defensive End and Running backs." JLK

110th  Kraig Urbik, OG, Wisconsin or  Alex Boone, OT, Ohio State. should one or the other fall to here, it  would be nice but we may have to move up to 100 to get one.

121st Emmanuel Cook, S, South Carolina He will need some strength coaching but will do well at next level, most scouts agree.

147th Donald Washington, CB, Ohio State

183rd Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri His stock has been dropping.

220nd Drew Willy. QB Buffalo Let em fly!

Doesn’t look like Jerry will be there at 28. Based on the number of LB’s the Bills brought into visit I do not believe the FO thinks Ellison’s replacement is on the current roster. I hope they get Robinson or Loadholt at 42 and I Coffman (alot) at 75.

I ‘like’ Coffman

Yea, me too. Loved Coffman at Mizzu. I do like your thinking in the 1st 4 rounds. But since Buffalo signed a vet. FA, i don’t think they go with ringer, unless the bargain is too good to ingore. It would be tough to pass on him in the 4th considering he is bottom of the 3rd round value i think in the scouting report.

Are we drafting Dino's now?

If Orakpo is gone then A.Maybin or E.Brown. Both of whom can play Will Lb.
If Jerry gone then I like Ziggy Hood. or Larry English.

Personally my list of guys I would like to get at 11 that are considered possible to be there goes: Raji, A. Smith, Oher, Matthews, Orakpo. However, I dont believe Raji, Smith or OHer will be there. I went to Penn State and watched every second of every game they played this year. I am of the opinion that Maybin is a top 10 talent who is not even close to being NFL ready and is going to be a 3 year project. I think Maybin deserves to be drafted in the high teens or low 20s.

Basically, I dont think the dropoff from a Orakpo, Maybin, Brown, Ayers at 11 to a M. Johnson, Larry English, even Barwin at 28 is as great a drop as you will see at the OL spot or OT spot if one of the top 4 are there. Therefore, if all 4 OT are gone as well as Raji I hope the go Matthews or Cushing (whoever they think fits better).

There is no chance Jerry gets past Indy at 27.

And i think he never gets by Detroit. Boy, talk about a defensive line that was totally abused last season!!!!

What about Dannell Ellerbe from Georgia. He has a 3rd round grade form most of the scouting reports I’ve looked at. He is about the same size as Poz, he is fast and is a good blitzer as well as in coverage. I think he would be a perfect fit for our defense, especially if we get more picks in a trade.

If Orakpo isn't there at 11

I just don’t think the Bills go DE….I just have a hunch its Pettigrew….mainly because it might be the most questionable pick, and I have a feeling offense is our first thing to shore up, plus Pettigrew;s size and blocking might help out a so-so LT whether it be Bell, Walker, Chambers or a 4th rounder from Penn State

The Bills CAN win every game

I agree on not having to draft a tackle in the first.

To be totally honest, the only OT that I would draft in the first is Andre Smith, simply because I think that he’s the only one that could immidietly jump in and start at LT. After him, I have no problem drafting a DE or an LB in the first, even Pettigrew would be a good pick at 11 IMO.
