Jason's Buffalo Bills Mock Draft
OK... No major discussion, but this is how I see it going tomorrow.
Round #1; Pick 11
Michael Oher - Tackle - Mississippi State
We NEED a LT with the void we have created by trading Peters. There are only 4 players who can step in and play left tackle right away and Oher is the 4th best. He might not be able to step in right away, but could play RT for a period of time while Langston Walker plays LT and then switch when it becomes painfully obvious that Walker is not athletic enough to play LT against the better pass rushers.
Round #1 - Pick 28
Brandon Pettigrew - Tight End - Oklahoma State
Again, I guy who can come in and produce right away. This pick is another one necessitated by the trading of Peters. We need a good blocking TE and Pettigrew is definately the most polished and complete TE in the draft, by far.
Round #2, pick 42
Andrew Levitre - Guard - Oregon State
NOTE: the Bills will NOT draft Alex Mack. He is much better suited to play Center and the best offseason signing was Hangartner. Hangartner will man Center this year, period. Leviter is slightly undersized but plays big and mean. Based on what Geronimo said, he fits the profile the Bills are looking for.
Round 3, Pick #75
Marcus Freeman - Outside Linebacker - THE Ohio State University
The Bills can't go 3 rounds without picking a grad from THE Ohio State University. Marcus Freeman fits well within the cover-2 defense. He is slightly undersized, but quick and can cover tightends well.
I will stop there, because to be honest with you everything past here is competely dependant upon what other teams do and the pet projects (Fine, Corner) the Bills brass have their hearts set on.
Some other picks that would not surprise me though:
Larry English - DE/OLB - Northern Illionois in the late 1st/2nd
Connor Barwin - DE/OLB - Cincinnati in the late 1st/2nd
What I don't think the Bills will do:
1) Draft a LB or DE at pick #11
2) Draft Alex Mack
3) Draft Max Unger
4) Move up to get Andre Smith
5) Draft a RB or WR
I won't be around till right before the draft... C'mon Geronimo, drop some knowledge on us soon about tomorrow. I am salivating!!
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

My friend there is no way Pettigrew makes it to #28. If he does, it would be the steal of the draft. Not necessarily on the national media stage, but it will prove to be. But I still just don’t see him passing through at least six teams that I can see taking him after us at #11.
Did you read my post about it?
He could fall. I don’t think he will but he could… Check it out.

I read your post. Of course he can, but he won’t.

I actually do think that Pettigrew is 50/50 to be available and has great value there. I would pick Oher too. It just makes too much sense not to. I can’t get behind the idea of not addressing DE early. It’s too critical to the short and long term success of this team to ignore. I would draft a DE instead of Levitre and settle for a guard like Urbik a round or two later.
Brandon Pettigrew
Pettigrew is not really the down the field threat the Bills need. Everyone raves about his blocking, but remember guys we already have a good if not great blocker in Derek Fine. Personally, I think TE James Casey out of Rice makes more sense.
Also, I’m not sure you pick a guy at the #11 pick to play right tackle. I know your saying simply to start him there, but even then the effects are not immediate. If the Bills draft a guy that highly he better be getting some serious PT. This is why a guy like Brian Cushing, BJ Raji, or Everette Brown make so much sense.
Why do the Bills need a down the field threat at TE? Isn’t Lee Evans supposed to be this big time deep threat? Why did the Bills sign T.O. if they are going to throw the ball down the field to the TE all day?
The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.
But remember T.O. is only signed for 1 year.

Two names: James Hardy and Steve Johnson.
I’m not saying that after this year they will be at T.O.‘s level, but at least one of them should be a competent enough receiver to be the #2 guy this team needs. I don’t buy this whole TE to stretch the field stuff, because isn’t that why we paid so much money to Lee Evans?

Yea, but i still say Lee was overpaid at the time. He requires help from the other side of the field in some form. I’ll agree with you on Steve Johnson, he could be a steal where we drafted him last season. I like his potential.

Jason Witten is a marginally better athlete than Pettigrew though. Here comes a rant that isn’t directed towards you stuckinthesouth, but seemed like a good place to toss it into the convo:
I don’t really want to get into the TE/WR hybrid vs. big blocker debate because I don’t actually think it matters all that much. But you don’t need a Vernon Davis skill set to make plays down the field. Everyone who thinks we need a “seam buster” should check out the yards per catch for all the TEs last year:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/stats/byposition?pos=TE
The averages are mostly very close to each other and how good of an athlete the player is doesn’t have nearly the correlation to yards per catch that one would guess. The biggest difference that an athlete at TE would make is in the coverage that the defense plays. A guy like Pettigrew could probably be covered by a LB. But if a team is trying to man up with a Jared Cook type they will need to use a safety.
No problem bro. I know i have been very critical of Pettigrew on here, but i wish for him the best. I hope he has learned his lessons in life so far, and really does become a dominating TE, whether it’s with the Bills or not. I know in the past i have been openly critical of Lynch, but, i do hope he finally will wake up. It would be a shame for someone with his talent level throw away millions of dollars just to lead the party life. I think on here that some of you guys are fairly young, and some are around my age. I was in the sex, drugs and rock and roll era, and seen many people either be so comsumed with it that either it destroyed there lives, or crippled it to the point they never reached there potential in life. I think Lynch has the potential to be so good, during fantasy drafts people are trying to figure out who to take, A.P. or Lynch. I think he has that potential, but it would be a shame if he never achieves it because of that party lifestyle.

Most WRs need a complimentary WR.
How many receivers can get open against constant double teams?

Jason from Ohio.....
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this draft…….
there are many ways to skin a cat……..and this would be my second favorite outcome (first one involves any draft in which we get BJ Raji at 11)
From your fanpost to God’s ears my man…….
