Somehow, I don’t think Mortensen and Dilfer have watched more than two Bills games the past decade. ESPN has gotten so annoying to watch.

I think Dilfer knows what he is talking about.

Not bad for ESPN

About time Mort admits he was wrong about Jauron wanting TO. Dilfer is spot on, with the o-line in ruins nothing matters, Trent won’t have time to get the ball to Evans/TO. Also like that they comment that Peters was not as good in 08 as he was in 07. I thought they were pretty much spot on.

FAIL!

THey attack all the ey points going ito the draft: the dier need for a pass rush, the help needed on the O-Line, the need for a pass catching tight end. But they miss the boat entirely by how saying how the Bills should attack these needs by TOTALLY neglecting the present Peters situation.

I’d Love to draft Everette Brown, he’s my favorite player in this draft, but if we don’t have a LT, then we’re simply not going to draft him. They also bring up drafting Cook in the second round, obviously not doing their homework on the type of TE that OBD likes. Here’s a hint, Cook isn’t it, he doesn’t block well.

To me all this is, is ESPN doing their regular shallow analisys. Unless the team is constantly on the national stage, they’ll only touch the obvious and wont bother doing any homework at all on the team.

Worthless watch

I don’t know if they even bother to do more than just scratch the surface with the Bills, and I don’t know exactly what they do with other teams, but this wasn’t that great…dissappointed with their analysis

How profound do you expect something like this to be? They’re catering to a national audience. National audiences know jack crap about the Bills.

Still

Its ho-hum…and while i also understand that its such a short segment, I think they could have done a better job, by just asking each, what positions the Bills should address early, and base most of their opinions on those players, and focus more on those potential players. And let whats his name with the big head, talk about a couple of the college players at the positions they mention.

Also

Kiper seems to just look at needs and then make his mock that way. If Brown is only to be good, not great, then I wonder who he thinks will be the best plyer available there,

Who cares, I’d take any of the bloggers on this site’s word over Kiper’s.

Except Brian’s on Maybin of course :)

But...

How hard is it to see that we don’t have an actual starting SLB and look at the best 4-3 SLBs in the draft? Methinks not too hard. Not too hard at all.

by WhyBillsWhy on Apr 6, 2009 8:03 PM EDT up reply actions

C'mon guys

That’s the purpose of this segment, show a superficial analysis of franchise needs an point some players the could look close in draft day. They do the same analysis with all franchises, not only Bills, and with all was the same kind of analysis.
As fans, we could talk all year about Bills, but it’s national TV, we all know how it works.

I love Dilfer claiming that Juaron and the Bills start fast. ESPN is the master at only caring about what happened yesterday while totally forgetting everything else that has ever happened. Even this afternoon, Skip Bayliss and all the afternoon idoits are all talking about how good the Atlanta Braves are solely because they won last night. If Philly won easily, nobody at ESPN would be predicting the Braves win the wild card or division. They even made it a point, to say that Philly was still OK and had a great shot at making the post season. Thanks Skip, I was ready to write them off after their poor start of 0-1 with 161 games to play.

And Dilfer goes on to explain that TO and Buffalo isn’t a great match because not only does Buffalo apparantly win all their games early in the year, but TO is also a guy who fades as the year goes on. Ummmmm, here is TO’s gamelog:

when exactly did ralph make it known that he wasn't getting any younger, mort?

im still holding my breath that he can reverse time, which, until hearing this report, I thought he hadn’t yet given up on.

doesn't buy posluzny.

The curious case of Ralph Wilson Button

Didn’t see the movie, but it’s an interesting idea if you apply it to Ralph. He’s gotten less meddlesome over time so I’m not sure it would be a good thing if he could age in reverse.

Who is Mortenson talking to that overrates the Bills o-line?

I don’t think I have seen it written ANYWHERE that the Bills have a great, terrific, outstanding, or even good or above average offensive line. Even the stoutest Bills homer would say that this team needs at least 3 offensive lineman before the season starts. What is Mortenson talking about when he says it is overrated?

The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.

Jason Peters?????

by Joe P. on Apr 6, 2009 10:27 PM EDT up reply actions

ESPN is a last year league. The Bills OL wasn’t as good as advertised last season and according to the ESPN dictionary, that means that they are currently overrated. At least until they make a big move because then ESPN will start calling them underrated.

Seriously though, you cut Dock and trade Peters and the national media is going to have very low expectations for this OL. It’s pretty funny that Mort calls this an overrated line, because if they draft an OT at 11 who makes a big impact, they could end up having one of the most underrated OLs in the league.
