Around SBN: Are The Orioles Bad Or Unlucky With Their Young Pitching?

I'll be honest with you guys - last night's Lost melted my brain. I've got nothing to write about this afternoon, I'm not sure it'd be terribly interesting if I did, and watching football is better than reading about it anyways.

So here's another 'Classic Bills' video for you. Three touchdowns in 77 seconds equals a big come-from-behind win for the Bills in 1990. Our first edition of 'Around the AFC East' this year comes your way tomorrow. (video courtesy BillCody1960 at YouTube)

End the Lost comments, now!

I haven’t watched last night’s episode yet, so no spoilers PLEASE!!!!! I do like me some brain melters though.

Does anybody else just love Don Criqui? For some reason, that guy’s voice reminds me of the Bills’ successful 90’s seasons. I’m sure he did a bunch of our games, like this one. He’s also a very good announcer.

So, are you holding out on putting the “no punt” game up since it’s in it’s entirety on Youtube in 12 parts?!?!

I’ve got like 5 of them on the DVR. I need to catch up big time.

Lost doesn’t disappoint – ever. I fear this time next year though.

Oh yeah….What a turn of events that game had! Remember when those type of things happened for the Bills instead of to the Bills?!?! That’s the type of game we expect the Bills to lose now, but back then they always found ways to win games that way. I miss those days.

And the emotion and celebrations by the players was unreal. I love that and hope we get some of that again soon. We sure need it!

I remember it being a great feeling knowing that the Bills were never out of a game and always had the ability to come out on top in the end. Now….we don’t get those feelings, unfortunately.

I’ll be honest with you guys – last night’s Lost melted my brain.

Dude seriously, WTF?!?!?! How many more twists can JJ think up? And now we have to wait until Septembre for the next season, it just doesn’t seem fair!!! (Sorry K just had to get it out of my system… but at least i didn’t put in any spoilers.)

How many more twists can JJ think up?

JJ’s not involved with Lost anymore… unless you were referring to the Fringe finale. :)

So what they do now........say the island is actually a spaceship with time warp capacity?

How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

I didn’t know that he had left lost. But still, these writters are nuts.

by CanadianBillsFan on May 14, 2009 2:47 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, Abrams hasn’t been around since S1, basically. It’s been all Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof for the majority of the show. I think Abrams is still listed as an “Executive Producer”, though… whatever that means.

OK just watched the Lost finale. My brain is officially melted. So many damn questions! WHat’s up with the imposter!?!?

~K
"As the governor of Louisiana once said, the only way Chris Kelsay can lose his job is if he got caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy."

by Kurupt on May 15, 2009 12:09 AM EDT reply actions

My theory, the imposter is the same guy at the start of the episode, and the same guy that visits Hugo as dead ppl, and the same guy that appeared as all the “spirits” on the island. Notice how the imposter never did anything himself, always had other ppl do it for him? So that just leaves another question, what is he? Ghost? Spirit? Jacob’s brother?

by CanadianBillsFan on May 15, 2009 1:16 AM EDT up reply actions

He obviously is that guy, but how does he ‘change form’ and what’s his problem w/Jacob?!?

~K

Well, Jacob’s rival doesn’t have a name. There’s only one other entity on the island that does not have a name from the Others… and that would be the Lostie-dubbed ‘smoke monster.’ We know that the smoke monster can change forms at will (Eko’s brother, for example, and Alex this past season), and even appears to retain memories while doing so if smokie is Christian as well. I’m not completely sure that I believe that the smoke monster is Jacob’s rival. Just saying.

The problem with Jacob appears to be a fundamentally different view on the inherent good or evil in people. I doubt that the show will brush it that broadly, but we can only talk in broad strokes at this point in time.

It’s going to be a loooooooooong hiatus.

I was thinking the same thing. And yes it<s going to be a VERY long hiatus.

by CanadianBillsFan on May 15, 2009 1:30 PM EDT up reply actions

I think we also haven’t seen the last of some characters….Walt maybe. What happened to Claire? Did the bomb go off? Wouldn’t everyone have died that was on the island, including young Ben, the Dharmas, the others, etc? And I thought the Dharma people all died from some airborne sickness?

I was under the impression the Locke impersonator/Jacob’s rival appeared as Alex. When Alex appeared to Ben, didn’t “Locke” disappear to “look for some rope” or whatever?

The hiatus will be TOO long. There are too many cliffhangers here!

What happened to Claire?

Well, she was recruited by Christian, wasn’t she? I’m quite confident she’s alive, and I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that Emilie de Ravin would be making a season six re-appearance as well. If you’re asking me, I’m saying that she was Rival’s means of entering Jacob’s cabin (i.e. breaking the ring of ash) to start Locke on the “move the island, go get the O6, then croak so I can pretend to be you so I can get Ben to kill Jacob” path. And given Kate’s motivations for returning to the island, you’d have to imagine that in the likely (to me) event that Claire is still alive somewhere, Kate will be the one to find/rescue her.

And I thought the Dharma people all died from some airborne sickness?

It was a chemical in gas form that Ben released to kill DHARMA in “The Purge”. This is seen in the episode when Ben’s father dies (I believe that was the first Ben-centric episode). Ben/the Others literally murdered the DI, with Ben acting in a double agent spy role.

Did the bomb go off? Wouldn’t everyone have died that was on the island, including young Ben, the Dharmas, the others, etc?

Given the fact that Jacob grunted “They’re coming” right before RivalLocke kicked him into the fire (that scene was pure evil… awesome stuff), you’d have to imagine that if the bomb exploded, it wasn’t your typical destructive force – there would have had to be a flashsplosion, if you will, to get the ’77 crew back to ’07, right? Right? Please?

I was under the impression the Locke impersonator/Jacob’s rival appeared as Alex. When Alex appeared to Ben, didn’t "Locke" disappear to "look for some rope" or whatever?

That’s the common theory… but something about the commonality of believe that it’s true is disquieting to me. Locke’s reaction to Ben’s Alex-related story in the finale kind of re-affirmed those doubts in me.

I was just on SI's Bills page...

and the headline from Buffalo Rumblings was…

“I’ll be honest with you guys – last night’s Lost melted my brain. I’ve got nothing to write about this afternoon”

It got me thinking about what other people might think when reading that and I chuckled.
