Top 10 Dual Threat Running Backs - Matt Bowen
Matt Bowen of the National Football Post ranks Marshawn Lynch No. 5 among NFL running backs with dual-threat ability. Bowen's definition of "dual threat" is:
In my opinion, it’s a back who can produce in the downhill running game and act as another weapon in the passing game. They are match-up nightmares for defenses, and we see them putting up numbers out of the backfield in both the rushing and receiving category.

i completely disagree w/ washington and faulk being on this list..
steven jackson and joseph addai are just the first 2 that come to mind.. and if you look at their body of work as a whole jackson could possibly be ahead of lynch on this as could addai

I agree
But overall, I think this list is pretty good, since I was thinking most of these people before even looking at the article. I might have even put Slaton higher.
Freddy and Dom are quintessential dual threat backs too (but we somehow have the 6th to worst backfield, ridiculous SI). Season can’t start soon enough.

yeah overall i agree i think it is a pretty good list and that's what boggles my mind the most w/ seeing faulk/washington on their..
if you’re going to have washington on their for the purpose he serves then i think even sproles should be on this list over washington

Maybe just because this is the latest list
Meaning that last year Addai and Jackson had down years, and their ability to be in the Top 10 has waned. However, I like the assessment of lis of course, and it is honest, and I like that he points to where he could go in th future. Damn his suspension and idiotic personal decision making!!

I don’t know how he could leave Steven Jackson off the list. Didn’t he have a 90 catch season a few years back?
Washington and Faulk shouldn’t make the list because they aren’t dual threat RB’s. They get 3-5 carries per game, I’m not sure how that means they are anything more than 3rd down backs….

Steven Jackson should have been top 5 for sure. Marion Barber and Clinton Portis also probably both should have made the list, especially barber who get TDs and has averaged about 50 catches per season over the last 2 years.

Marshall Faulk was a great offensive player but....
I’d take our very own Thurman Thomas in a heart beat. He was the engine that made our Ferrari go (the Early 90s teams). If Marshawn can keep his nose clean he has a chance to be the same type of player. I could see him being number one on the list with all of the weapons that we have on offense this year. Of course it all hinges on our offensive line living up to their billing. Let’s go Bills!!!!

Um, I’m pretty sure the article and comments above were talking about Kevin Faulk.

He starts by referencing Marshall Faulk...
as his example of a dual threat RB.

It`s hard to argue with the list
Just about the only guy that I don`t like is Steven Jackson. I mean yeah he had that one great season where he combined for 2000+ yards, but he ain`t dont sh*t since.
Nice to see Marshawn recognised.

And Jackson was left off the list, so I`m happy.

Seriously?
The guy has 4 1000 yard seasons as a pro. And if he had played in more than a dozen games each of the past two seasons and remained healthy, he’d have put up well over 50 catches each season.
He’s done FAR more than Lynch has done…..and it’s not even close

Also
Do you not remember the performance he had against us this past season for a terrible Rams team?
When healthy, this guy is one of the best RB’s in the league, and a great dual threat.

yeah, as long as he doesn`t trip over his own feet like he did earlier last season. Thats a blooper real highlight if I ever saw one.

?
What? I don’t recall that…..

3rd game of the year, he had nothing but green in front of him and he tripped over the 35 yard line. And he didn’t slip either, it was the tip of his foot that planted into the turf like if he expected it to be 6 inches lower. Made the blooper reals up here.
