More Levi Jones Speculation - Tim Graham ESPN
Will Bills try Levi on for size?
The Buffalo Bills decided not to draft a tackle to replace Jason Peters.
Tackle Levi Jones, just released by the Bengals, would be a good replacement for Jason Peters on the Bills.
That doesn't mean they're out of options.
Buffalo is among a short list of obvious landing pads for the 6-foot-5, 307-pound Jones to land, although the Phoenix-area native and Arizona State grad has expressed an interest in playing for the Cardinals. That appears doubtful.
The Bills or Detroit Lions are much more likely.

Anyone buying into the idea of kicking the tires on this one yet?

I'm not.
Personally I think he’s done and that’s why he was replaced in Cincy.

Cincinnati Bengals
First off, let’s not give any credibility to the Bengals front office.
Having said that, I think they were awe struck (much like the Bills) by Andre Smith. I think some viewed Smith as the best tackle available. Would I take Andre Smith over Levi Jones, yes, but that isn’t the question.
The question is would I take Levi Jones over whomever the Bills have at LT (currently Walker). The answer to that question is, I don’t know. A lot depends on his health. I see no reason not to bring this guy in for a tryout and physical.
When this guy was healthy he was one of the best tackles in the league.

What Chris Brown had to say.
OT Levi Jones cut
By Chris Brown – Posted May 6th, 2009
As expected the Bengals parted ways with veteran OT Levi Jones. The former first-round pick is 29-years old and has been beset with injuries each of the past three years. That’s why the Bengals did not get any takers when he was offered in a trade. But now the risk is reduced as any NFL team can make him what they feel is a suitable offer.
Personally I think it’s a worthwhile option for the Bills. At 29 he should have a few good years left in him. Obviously a full physical will have to confirm that for any NFL team. If he checks out though he’d be a solid veteran addition.

I guess
what it comes down to is what are the injuries that have sidelined him and are they injuries that could prevent him from every playing at the level that he was playing before. I would certainly bring him in and have OBD dr.’s give him a complete physical and then a tryout.

Brian, please tell me that these are just reporters panicing for us.
I mean just because we traded away Peters and didn’t sign/draft someone to replace him doesn’t mean that we should sign the first guy that comes along. Pus Jones was released for a reason; his on a VERY steep downward slide. I mean we have more then a few good canadidates in Walker, Bell and Chambers, all of which would be better then Jones at this point.
So someone please tell me that these reports are just reporters going “Hey he’s a LT’… Buffalo has no LT… They go together perfectly!” Cause I really don’t want Jones as our new starting LT.

That's generally the thought...
we haven’t heard anything saying the Bills have called or are interested. We’ve heard they could (or in some reporters’ words should) be interested.

Generally YOUR thought.
Can’t say either way. So please don’t generalize.

Until you hear someone say that the Bills have inquired, that's THE thought.
Nobody has said the Bills are interested. They have said the Bills should be interested. Two different things.
To quote CBF this point these are…
are just reporters going "Hey he’s a LT’… Buffalo has no LT… They go together perfectly!" Cause I really don’t want Jones as our new starting LT.

Exactly what I wanted to hear. These are just reporters putting together a story for what they think should happen.

Teams
are and should always be looking to improve their team in any way possible. kicking the tires doesn’t mean that they will sign him. all they are doing is their due diligence on a player to see if he can help them out.

Oh I agree. And even if I’m not big on Jones at all, I do want them to kick the tires on him. But that doesn’t mean that I want Jones on our team.

See Chris Brown
He has some insight to say the least.

I hope they at least investigate him and bring him in for a look.
I wouldn’t sign him to start at LT, but I would sign him to compete to start at LT. What if he is healthy and able to be a quality LT for us? We could swing Walker back to RT and Butler to Guard, letting Levitre be our top interior backup and starter in 2010 or 2011….

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is Kurupt giving you the idealist version. :-)
I just don’t see Jones as being healthy enough. If he was he would still be a Bengal. But… if he is healthy that would be my dream scenario exactly how you described it.
