Whitner wants to make more plays
We want that too, Donte. We want that too.

Well, if he was paid a dollar every time he has said those exact words, he’d be a million richer. It’s great that he talks about the fact that he doesn’t at all make enough plays, either as a run-stopper or pass-defender, but when will he ever back up his words? He has been a bust so far; yeah he has started and been a solid player, but when you’re the eighth overall selection, you’ve got to make 100 tackles, 2 sacks, 5 interceptions per season, which he clearly hasn’t. I admit that it hasn’t helped him at all that Perry Fewell has had a bad tendency of moving him around (SS, FS, OLB, CB), but still he must do a better job of reading the eyes of QB’s.
This is why I think the drafting of Jairus Byrd is going to prove a great one, because he does something Whitner never has done – make plays on a consistent basis.

When did he play LB?

I saw him play strong side LB in a 3-3-4 with Scott and Simpson manning a safety spots last year. It wasn’t used much, but he did do it a few times.
