entire cartoonish look combined with a motion control that seem half-assed

gee, sounds like a LOT of Wii games. big reason i’m on the 360 – no motion control (for the time being), because it never seems to work right. both the ps3 motion stuff and the wiimote – which they’re forcing you to buy the fix for – are so bogus.

And in fact, for many games it works great, especially Tiger Woods 09 (not 08), which to me is far superior to any other version on any other system and I hope the same is true for 2010.
I also disagree with your comment on the “cartoonish” graphics. While the Wii is less powerful, like Bryan said, they were just translating the PS2 port, or evn the Gamecube game, directly over to the Wii, which are graphics that try to look “realistic” for that generation of systems. Now however, with games like Grand Slam tennis and this new Madden, EA Sports is using smoother, actual cartoon-like graphics, that are easy on the eye, and don’t get in the way of what the Wii is, which is much more of an interactive experience. While they have added a new device to add to the controller, to add a 360 degree range of motion for the controls, I don’t think it is a scam or anything, just an add on to reinforce what is becoming better and better game play.
I am willing to bet that with the popularity of the Wii, and it being the most profitable system by far, when the next-next-gen systems start rolling a few years from now, Nintendo will offer a system that will have high-end performance as well as a continually awesome interactive experience. AND there’s MArio Kart!

I haven’t bought a system since PS1, but the reason to own PS products is for the Gran Turismo series.

360’s online play is glorious, and their store is way better than anything else out there. now that the jasper’s out, it’s rare to see a RROD of anything but a really old system. now that the hardware failure rate is down to well within industry standards, and the ps3’s YROD (yellow ring of death) is on the rise from overheated consoles and user-changed hard drives (the big 7200rpm drives generate a lot of heat and vibration compared to the 5400rpm ones that they ship with) , it’s not really a contest anymore.

ps3’s got better HD content due to the fact that it can output in 1080p for blu-ray all the time, and there’s limited content for the 360’s full HD stuff. it’s rare that someone can really see a significant difference between 1080 and 720, though, IMO. 720’s where it’s at.
