Whitner wants more big plays
We want that too, Donte....
"Getting a lot of turnovers, that's what we're missing on this defense and that's what we need to get."
If Byrd shows any ability in training camp switching from CB, he'll likely start.
Wait and see on that one!
-Protection has been an early problem for the offensive line.
-Kyle Williams and Ryan Denney blew past Langston Walker and Andy Levitre like they weren't even there.
Ugh....That cannot continue once the pads go on. That last one is particularly concerning.

My biggest concern...
It takes time for an offensive line to gel. We’re basically starting from scratch with a new gut in every position from last year. Walker looked good filling in at LT last year, but I hadn’t heard anything positive so far this year. It’s still early, and they’re not in full pads yet, but it certainly is disconcerting……

I know “gut” was supposed to be “guy,” but that was actually a pretty funny typo. Five guts on the Oline…awesome!

Walker's game is based on hit people in the mouth.
He can’t really do that right now…
Wait until preseason and then we can complain about it together if the situation presents itself.

No Pads
At this point in time it is so difficult to evaluate either the O or D line. Without any pads on or real contact there is no way of getting an accurate picture on what things will be like during the season. It’s much easier to evaluate the skill players in OTA’s and mini-camps than it is the “Big Uglies”. The main benefit for those guys in this setting is learning the plays, practicing the line calls and working on technique. We have been reading reports of porous line play so far with the defense getting consistent pressure but when the real hitting starts that could be completely opposite and we might start worrying that the D-line is getting dominated and there is no pressure on the QB’s. I don’t think we will truly know what we have on either side of the trenches until there is some real contact in training camp and preseason games. I’m not worried YET and will reserve judgment until the real bullets start flying.
I'll donate $1 to help Mary Wilson pay the estate tax...who's with me?!?
