Why the **** wouldn’t you like it from Maybin. Yeah, the guy has got a chip on his shoulder, but so what? The most succesful draft picks are the ones, who more than anything feel like Maybin that they have something to prove. I find it dubious truthfully telling, but I guess it’s also a result of the loser-attitude a lot of Bills-fans have inherited after 10 years of no playoffs.
In terms of Nic Harris and his wish to start against the Pats on MNF, I’m all for it! He can only be an upgrade over the weak Keith Ellison that is a big liability against the run and is overrated as a pass-defender (when have we ever seen him batt balls down or be near the football when QB’s throw against us…). Harris is a better athlete with much more fluid hips, in a lot of ways like Alvin Bowen, and has much bigger upside, also due to his 235 pounds. Hopefully, he or Bowen will be starting, when the season begins, but since Dick Jauron clearly loves his mediocre players, Ellison will in all likelihood be starting, I’m afraid.

I just took that line about maybin off.
I personally wouldn’t like it if Maybin said “I’m gonna be the guy the first day” when he hasn’t been through a contact practice. I took it off when I re-read what Harris said. “I’m going to try and start…” not “I’m going to start…” To me there’s a big difference.
Maybin, from everything I have heard, has run his mouth too much. He needs to make plays on the field before he runs his mouth. He has zero credibility to do what you are saying he should do. Owens on the other hand can come in and light a fire. No rookie, especially one that hasn’t had a full contact practice, should come in and try and light any fire. He should keep his mouth shut and learn something.
The Buffalo News noted that Harris was the largest of the three LBs competing for the spot – Ellison, Bowen, and Harris.

Good for him, I like that attitude. I’ve liked what he’s had to say in various interviews before this too. I don’t expect him to win the job, or even get significant time on the field early, but his attitude and work ethic should push him past Ellison in no time.

Agree
I am liking Harris more then Bowen, or Ellison these days.
No night spent pantsless is a wasted night.
I don’t even consider Bowen a threat. Harris is the one getting all the first team reps in practice. In fact, the team was giving Ashlee Palmer some first team reps as well. No sign of Bowen.

Merz?
Already comparing him to Merz?

What is peoples deal?
Ellison is an alright starter. and that crap about he’s liable in run defense is bogus. He’s a consistent tackler un like other starters on our roster (kawika mitchell) but i dont hear anyone complaining about the TONS and Tons of missed tackles he had. Ellison often is left covering the TE or dropping into his zone. His position doesnt call for Huge numbers in our scheme. HE DOES HIS JOB WELL. AND THATS WHY JAURON LIKES HIM. this crap that everyone spits about him being a good backup but not a good starter is ridiculous. If u can play, u can play. and he’s a consistent performer. He’s not spectacular but the position doesnt call for him to be spectacular it calls for coverage and hes proven he can do it. Which is why Jauron likes him. No more of this Jauron is ok with mediocre crap. He’s a head coach in the NFL and u r not. who knows better?

Ellison is a below-average starter. Would you be opposed to putting an average starter in? Ellison is a smart player, no doubt. But he also lacks the physical skills to be an impact player. The Bills need some of those. He does his job adequately. We need some spectacular in our lineup.

Ellison doesn’t miss many tackles, but he’s also not in position to make them in the run game all that often. How often have we seen him shed a block to get a runner in the backfield?

I totally agree he not a playmaker out there. He is just there. Harris is bigger, stronger, and faster. We need that to compete in our division. Harris could keep up with Keller, Miami’s TE, or Watson. That alone makes him a better asset than Ellision on the field.

I love the kid's attitude and work ethic
And the fact that he’s getting reps with the first team early is encouraging to me. Do I think he’ll start against the Pats? No. But should he be our starter by year’s end? Absolutly.
