Jets & Dolphins War of Words in June
This is some great stuff. I don't like this Ryan character already but I gotta give him his due, at least he is willing to make it interesting in June. But as much as testosterone induced fans love this kind of trash talk in June, Id take Dick Jauron 100 out of 100 over Rex Ryan

I hope we all feel that way in October and beyond
We have no idea how good of a coach Rexy will be. We have a pretty good idea of what kind of coach Jauron is. Who has more up side?

"Those are the things you want your coach to say," Moore said. "Coaches usually give cliched answers. But for him to give his true feelings. … No, he’s not here to keep congratulating or pay homage to Bill Belichick. He’s here to win football games."
In some ways I agree with this completely. I hate cliched answers.
No night spent pantsless is a wasted night.
Agreed with that

I half agree. I’m not a fan of cliche’s, but what Ryan did was so far in the opposite direction that it was just as bad, or maybe even worse. Everybody loves a good, honest answer. But for him to say that he isn’t there to kiss Belichick’s rings was just inlfammatory and stupid. Did anyone actually think that he took the job to kiss the hoodies rings? It’s like if Ryan said he didn’t take the job to lose football games … duh! There is just nothing to gain with an obvious, but inflammatory statement.
I’m with kaiser on the half-agree. You can express confidence without having words land up on another team’s locker room bulletin board.
Yeah, that’s all the Pats need, another reason to feel underappreciated. They’ve been playing the “no respect” card this whole decade.
I’m having trouble reading Ryan. I think he’s a blowhard and that he’ll have a Gregg Williams-esque coaching career. A little part of me thinks that he’s doing this on purpose to keep the attention off of his players and how much they suck.
I'm sick of Rex Ryan
I know a lot of people like how hes picking up his team and getting behind his guys but he needs to relax and realize there is plenty of season left. All I know is that the Jets are not very good, they are not bad by any means, but they are not very good. If I’m playing on that team I’ll be getting sick of my coaching talking smack if we’re 2-4 to start the year. I don’t like people who talk trash before a down is played.

he will be talking smack then?

at the rate hes going
I wouldn’t be surprised. The guy can’t keep his mouth shut.

but he is taking some media attention away from his QB. Smart move IMO.

maybe he is
but which QB? Clemens or Sachez? Neither Harbaugh or Mike Smith tried to take attention away from their rookie QBs and they turned out fine. Why should Ryan feel like he has to now?

Several reasons
Expectations – Neither Ryan or Flacco were expected to be that good that quickly. Because the were, the bar has been raised for Sachez.
Location – Atlanta and Baltimore are not New York. The NY media is ruthless.
Coaching personality – Harbaugh and Smith are much more low key type coaches than Ryan. You have to be yourself and Ryan is doing that.

So your saying that we should be expecting to hear these arrogant comments for a while then.

Self expression doesn't appear to be a problem for Rex Ryan.
And what part is arrogant?

I didn’t even notice this one:
"I don’t know this Channing Crowder," said Ryan, whose father, Buddy Ryan, attended his press conference. "All I know is that he’s all tatted up.
WTF? Rex Ryan is officially insane. I think I like that because he’s going to be a trainwreck all year.

This is a joke dude
The guy has personality. Bills fans are not used to that in a head coach.

I don't think he was joking...
Yeah, the personality and energy is something we’ve been missing out on….

Put it in context
I don’t know this Channing Crowder, but all I know is that he’s all tatted up so I guess I need to be nervous about him. He’s right about one thing. I am a first-time head-coach, but I’ve been around the game all my life. I’m no different now than I’ve ever been. It’s just that more people are listening. The other thing is, I think he’s wrong. I think you do win in June. You win with your preparation and all that kind of stuff. If I was younger, I would handle him myself (laughing). He’s a good player. It is fun to ruffle some feathers. I have no problem doing that. Again, I’m confident in my football team. I’m confident in myself. I’m confident in our players, coaches and this entire organization. That’s why I say the things that I say.

you're both right
there is absolutely nothing wrong with what he said, but he is still a fat loudmouth who will be fun to hate.
So guys with tatts should be feared?

If you are a head coach in the NFL and don’t know who Channing Crowder is I have to wonder what else you don’t know. This guy is a starting OLB and probably one of the top 30 players at his position. He is not sub scrub backup bounced in and out of the league. He is coincidentally a guy I wanted the Bills to get to replace Ellison. For a head coach not to know who this guy is makes me wonder if he is still in the phase of being a defensive coordinator and only knowing offensive personell and his own defense. Got to think the Jets offense is going to be a disaster. I think they should leave Crowder one on one with a running back on pass situtations. I am sure Sanchez will love that.
Channing Crowder top 30 at his position, really?

Croweder agrees with you Berg
Rotoworld.com writes:
Channing Crowder and Rex Ryan ramped up their war of words Tuesday, with Crowder advising Ryan to “learn who your rival is.”
“I don’t know this Channing Crowder,” said Ryan. The Jets coach also chided Crowder about preparing for the season in June. “Oh, Lord have mercy,” Crowder answered. “What’s wrong with him? Now he’s talking about preparation? If he wants to be prepared, shouldn’t he know the starting middle linebackers of his division rival?”

I wouldn’t be surprised if Ryan were just getting under Crowder’s skin.

apple didn't fall far from the tree
its almost eerie how much like father, like son. i’m guessing the story will go about the same, too. jets will have a good defense, will buy into rexy’s sexy talk, but eventually get tired of the bombast blowhard mentallity that, like his pop – just really loves to hear the sound of his own voice.
rexy will have far more opportunities to hear himself talk in the ny media kleig lights than his equally lardy rumped progenitor ever had. eventually, like buddy, rexy’s ego will start making promises his players have to back up, and they’ll turn on him.
it will be a fun circus to watch.
