Most disliked AFC East figure right now
So after the team you despise the most was posted last week I've been reading a lot about Rex Ryan and Channing Crowder and Joey Porter and all these Dolphins and Jets guys running their mouths not to mention Randy Moss of the Patriots. So since I don't like any of these guys, I decided to throw something together to see who your most disliked AFC East personality is right now. I've varied the responses a little bit just to make it interesting. As always, explain your answer in the comments section.

I voted Cox. I hate him so, so much. Belichick was 2nd. To me, Ryan is too much of a joke to really hate him so far.

Cox lived up to his name. He was a disrespectful jerk with a loud mouth.

I went with Brady. I was at the store the other day and I went to bye a bottle of water, there on the glass was a sticker with a picture of Brady apparently coaching some kids. Of course he is all dressed up in a nice shirt with his hair all prettied up. It made me vomit right there in the store. I think it was smart water or some crap like that. I bought something else.

this is a no brainer….Tom Brady is the guy who you can never beat and just drives you nuts everytime you think of him. Belichick, he is just a work a holic, zero personality and I respect him. Brady, he is kind of a whiny biatch, does watch commercials, and talks like he’s semi-not mentally sane

I’m going to be honest with you. I don’t like him, probably never will. He’s a smug, unhappy little man and he treats people like they were idiots.

Up until a couple of years ago, mine was Sam Madison.
As for current people, I’m gonna go out of the box and pick Wes Welker. That little piss ant is a pain in the ass. It’s not really “hate” – there aren’t too many NFL players I hate (Jeff Reed!) – but Welker drives me to drink.

Where "The Big Tuna"?
Super Bowl XXV is reason enough for a Bills fan to hate him but lets add that he’s a former Patriots AND Jets head coach AND hires Bill Belichick AND now in he’s rebuilding Miami from the Front Office. My vote is for most disliked AFC East figure is Bill Parcells – no contest.

I should have included him along with the head coaches. I left off Sparano cause how can you hate that guy yet? Parcells would have been a good replacement.

Hmm, difficult because there are so many good options for this ‘accolade’. As starting point, I would say Rex Ryan, because the guy is just so cocky that it’s difficult to describe with words. I know that a lot of Bills-fans for a fact would love a guy like him, but to me a coach should never have that demeanour. I prefer a tough-nosed coach, who could care less about publicity and getting into ‘smack-fights’ with players. In that context, I like Dick Jauron and the fact that he would never indulge in anything like that.

It has to be Belichek
He was the DC of the NY Giants in 1990. The 20-19 game. He thinks his stuff does not stink. He attitude towards anyone on the field after a game is just an -—-well you have seen it. Spygate. Not being truthful on injury reports. I just hate him. The best scenario I can see happen is Brady getting knocked out of bounds and he and Belichek get knocked out. It would be a great day.

Even though he posed on the cover of Vanity Fair in his little lifeguard outfit?
Belichek is far and away leading with almost half the votes. Brady and Ryan are tied followed closely by Bryan Cox.

Belichek is also a cheater
so maybe hes brilliant but I wonder sometimes if Brady didn’t make the coach rather than the other way around. When a team wins the coach always gets more credit than he deserves. As an example, Phil Jackson is a very good coach but hes considered to be the best of his generation which I don’t think is true. He coached Jordan, Pippen, Kobe and Shaq during all his title runs. Subsequently, many say hes a better coach than Pat Reilly when its probably the other way around. If you take away Brady is Belicheck all that great? I’m sure hes still a good coach but there are plenty of other good coaches who don’t cheat.

I agree for the most part. You can have a great game plan, but if your players don’t execute, what good is it?
Look at what happened in their last Superbowl against the Giants. Brady was unable to execute on some plays in the 4th and suddenly people are questioning Belichick’s decisions. Or go back a few years – there was a Monday night game Patriots versus Denver. I don’t remember the exact scenario, but towards the end of the game Bellichick called for an intentional safety. Any other coach would get killed for doing that, but he’s a “genius” because they had the talent (and the video tape) to make a stop and win the game.
by Zumone on Jun 10, 2009 1:02 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
great examples
thats exactly my point. I’m hesitant to call the man brilliant. You put Tom Brady on any team and he’ll make the coach look like a genius.

Patriots vs. Broncos 11/03/03 Monday Night game
2000 NE @ Denver 29-19 W (Belichick’s first season)
2001 NE @ Denver 31-20 L
2002 Denver @ NE 24-16 L
2003 NE @ Denver 30-26 W
2004 no game
2005 NE @ Denver 28-20 L
2006 Denver @ NE 17-7 L
2007 no game
2008 Denver @ NE 41-7 W
Here’s the rundown of the “genius” move by BB to take an intentional safety:
That 1-point lead for Denver stood as New England took over with 3:06 left in the game. A Knorr punt was downed at the 1 and New England had the clock and the noisy fans at Mile High working against them. When Graham dropped an easy second and 10 pass and Brady being hit as he threw on third down, the Patriots lined up to punt.
Instead, with 2:49 left, the Patriots decided to take a safety, making the deficit 3 points. The thinking was apparently that punting from that deep would invariably wind up with Denver scoring at least 3 points and New England needing a touchdown. Despite having to kick the ball to Denver, a quick defensive stand would give the ball back to New England with only a field goal needed to tie.
The first part of the decision worked as the free kick was mishandled and rolled down to the Denver 15. Now it was up to the New England defense to get the ball into the offense’s hands.
Denver advanced the ball to only its 19 and Knorr punted.
With one timeout left and 2:15 on the clock, the Patriots had the ball at their own 42.
Brady to Faulk went into high gear with completions of 5, 19 and 16 yards. Then from the Denver 18, Brady dropped back, Givens fought off his coverage and caught the game winner in the front left corner of the end zone. A stunned Mile High crowd headed for the end zone with :30 left in the game.
A last-ditch bomb by Kanell was picked off by Asante Samuel and that’s the way it ended, the Patriots escaping with a 30-26 win.
So, BB the cheater’s cameraman only taped opposing team’s defensive signals at home games. That means there was a single game in 2002 where the defensive signals may have been taped. So, Mike Shanahan used the same defensive signals from the previous year? If he changed them, then what the Patriots filmed was useless. With only one win and four losses to show for it, where was all the help? Did it ever occur to you that just maybe it was all the film study from legit league-approved sites that helped the Patriots win that game?
Hate him all you want, but at least get your facts straight
Keep the faith!

Jeepers! Don’t be so defensive. With apologies to Harrison Ford, I don’t have Patriot Games memorized and I couldn’t be bothered to copy and paste the exact scenario of this Denver game. And my parenthetical “video tape” comment was just a throw away line (this is a Buffalo Bills blog after all).
Don’t get me wrong! In all fairness to Belichick, the intensional safety was absolutely ballsy game management – thats the reason I remember this game so clearly . And its the kind of aggressive and smart play calling we just never see from our HC, Jauron.
Seriously, Belichick is to football as Kasparov is to chess. The thing is Kasparov never has to worry about his Bishop not making a tackle or a knight dropping a pass. And that was my main point (and I agree the cheating thing is way overblown in my opinion). But as smart as Belichick is, his chess computer apporach to game management is only as good as his players. And when you have uber-Queen Tom Brady as your QB , of course BB looks like a genius.

Way too defensive, I agree
It’s the throwaway line that prompted it.
I’m well aware BB is a hated figure outside of New England. Admittedly there are particular NFL coaches currently running teams who manage to rub me the wrong way too, for reasons that go way beyond their win-loss records, but still hard to pinpoint exactly why. Some of it is based on whatever perceived attitude or incompetence I have of the guy, right or wrong – which is probably the same thing responsible for triggering thousands of those throwaway lines every day directed at Belichick.
Keep the faith!
