Well Jackson already is
i would say all, but Fine will have more reps and get a lot of check downs and will be a good option in the end zone
I know Trent said he felt more comfortable with Shouman but i think Fine will beat him out.

Yeah, Jackson already is a playmaker. He had the 20+ yard TD run against STL, the 70 yard sideline grab and a TD against Denver, 7 catches against the Jags and the huge game with Marshawn out against the Pats. And I was actually at the game in Washington a couple years ago when Freddy had a nice game with the 50 yard catch and run to help bring the team back.
Fine, Schouman and Rhodes might have chances to make plays, but I think that anything more than the occasional play that’s not a dump off will be all that we get. 4-5 TDs from the TEs would be nice and is probably something that we need. All three TEs are athletic enough to catch some passes downfield, but I doubt they do it often enough to consider them playmakers.
Johnson could be very useful supplanting Reed in the red zone. And I still think that Johnson’s biggest impact could be as a starting punt gunner opposite Wendling.
I don’t think that Buffalo needs any of these guys to specifically step up (other than Jackson who already has). What they need are these guys to, as a group, come up with some plays here and there to keep the offense balanced and take some pressure off TO and Evans.

He looks the part – you get that “feel” from him that he’s just got the it that we’re looking for. I expect great production from him – maybe not a ton in the stats department – but he’s going to do a lot of good things for the team this year.

Is this when Reeds’ contract is up? I assume thats what you meant? As far as right now though – i’d definately rather have Reed as the 3rd WR in the red zone until SJ shows a little more.

I meant this year. Red zone was broader than I meant though. If it’s first and 10 at the 15-20 yard line then I definitely want Reed in the game. If there’s pretty much any scenario where Buffalo can get another first down without ending up inside the 3 yard line, then I’d prefer Reed. But if it’s whatever down and goal, then I’ll take my chances with Johnson’s size. I think he’s got good body control and is much more likely to make a spectacular catch than Reed is.
gotcha – agreed.
Also based off of Trents comments that he wishes we’d seen Steve’s spring practice tapes on how he’s getting off the corners is a good sign.

Agree re: Johnson replacing Reed in the red zone. Reed has never been a touchdown scorer. Right now, 20% of Johnson’s career receptions have gone for TDs.
Owens, Evans, and Johnson would look good in the red zone. Owens, Evans and Shawn Nelson in the slot would, too.

Hardy has a 22% TD/catch ratio. Let’s get him in there too, when healthy. Of course, I don’t really want to see much of Hardy anywhere else unless he somehow miraculously improves his quickness and route running….

I kind of agree, but only because it’s a role he’d be playing every week. I expect him to be in that role come week 1 as well, but what do we do when Hardy is healthy? Does Hardy watch every game in street clothes or do we roll with 6 active WR’s each week?

freddy already is, so i’d have to say fine or johnson. theyr’e in the key positions this year. boy, if fine develops as a receiver a bit, him and nelson could be the best 2-TE tandem this team’s seen since metzelaars played for us. similar skill sets, too, with fine’s blocking and nelson’s (theoretical) receiving skills.
LOL!!!! I wonder what Edwards was really going to say :-)
said Edwards. "If you guys could watch some of his tape from the spring practices of him getting off of the press, it’s ridiculous. It’s making some of the best corners on our team… he’s getting right by them.

And hey, if he had said…“getting off on the press”, I would have figured he was talking about TO.
That is funny that he just stopped his thought because he didn’t want to show up the DB’s. And I’m glad he did, even though it would have obviously been an unintended slight.

I think it will be Johnson also. Big tall receiver with great hands, you have to love that.
Are we drafting Dino's now?
