Maybin's agent, Joel Segal, has a reputation in some circles for refraining from doing a first-round deal until the floor and ceiling are set by the players picked before and after his clients. If Segal applies that approach here, Maybin could be out for a while -- word is that agent Eugene Parker is hoping to break the bank for receiver Michael Crabtree at No. 10, under the theory that Crabtree should have been among the first five players drafted.

Who the hell cares where someone “should” have been drafted. He was drafted 10th and will get paid as a 10th round pick. If he wants to pout about it, let him.
It'll be just you, me, and Peter Nincompoop.
Should have been drafted????
And I “should” have been born to a wealthy family. So pay me too, Parker. I can’t even type what I think of that…person.

Well that sucks.
Wait, Eugene Parker? I know that name. Isn’t he Peters’ @ssbag of an agent also?

He is also James Hardy's agent.

Rookie Pay Scale
Yet another reason that rookies need to be on a pay scale. It is in the long term interest of each rookie to be signed and ready to hit the practice field. It is in the immediate and long term interest for each team to have all rookies signed. The agents are the only people whose interests are out of step.
With the Bills players (and Flaming Thumbtacks) reporting a week before everyone else does that mean that the Bills get an extra week of camp? Or is camp pretty much shut down a week before everyone else?
I’m guessing workouts at St. John Fisher end before other teams’ camps, but that the Bills will continue to practice at the Field house thereafter. With that said, if Maybin does hold out for a week (or longer ugghh) then he might have a week of more in depth practice time to fine tune his game till the season starts. Thats the only good thing that might come out of this. Of course his absence is bad, but it would/could have been worse
The Bills CAN win any game
For some reason the Browns are also starting up. I think they started today actually….

Just rookies today I think.

They get an extra week of practice.
I don’t know if it’s at SJF or Buffalo, however.

I anticipate that we by the end of today have locked up Jairus Byrd, Levitre and Wood, although I could see Maybin missing a couple of days, which is unfortunate. However, I don’t believe it’ll cause a problem for Maybin, because he’s just so hard-working (he lives up to the profound definition of hard worker) and extremely athletically-gifted.

You neglected to mention Nelson.
The Bills have 5 unsigned, as of Saturday morning, first day of camp.

Yes, but as mentioned in the below post, Nelson has a deal in place. He was traveling to Rochester last night. He’ll sign this morning and practice.

Rookie Pay Scale =
Definitely necessary. The whole purpose of the draft is to promote parity, but then you have the most poorly performing teams having to lock up a veritable question mark for a TON of cash and cap room.
I think it may be a little while before we see Maybin. I know the folks here all have brains in their head and won’t feel this way, but maybe the worst part of this is the negative fallout for some fans regarding the player. I would wager that AM would much rather be there for the first day of camp than not, but if he takes a lesser deal, he could end up with the whole league mad at him, and certainly would screw things up for a lot of other agents and players who have no such feelings (or if they do are in the same boat).
You guys should chat Maybin up on twitter sometime – he’s very quick to respond and seems like a bright kid. I have very high hopes for him over the next few years (note I said “next few” – I think a DE’s rookie season is almost always a wash…but you never know, I was living in TN when Kearse put on his rookie year clinic on sacking).
