The latest Madden '10 rankings of RB, and Marshawn Lynch didnt make the top 10. I think its bogus, what do you guys think. And yes i know its just a game, but a game probably alot of us play, so it sucks Marshawn doesn't get the respect he deserves.

I hate to comment on my own post

but in case anyone is wondering, TO made Top 10 WR’s at number 10, but no evans (which doesn’t shock or surprise me as much as lynch being left off)

Can’t really argue any of those RB’s ahead of Lynch. There should be a couple of others ahead of him too.

Why would Evans be in the top 10? He’s not even a top 20 WR in the NFL….

i disagree

lynch is the focal point of our anemic offense, and yet still churns out pro-bowl numbers. yea i get it he was a reserve, still a pro-bowl is a pro-bowl. production, yes many if not all of the RB’s on the list have better numbers. but seeing as he is the bills offense, and everyone knows it, i think he deserves some better credit, and i wouldn’t rank him first, but def top ten in the league in my book.

and yea i don’t think evans is a top 10, i was just throwing it out there.

always with the negativity……

Other RB’s are the focal points of their O’s and churn out better numbers. So what’s the point? He’s run for 4 ypc his entire career, many others are above that.

Just being realistic ss. I don’t think those guys are as good as Bills fans play them out to be, though Lynch would be closer to the top 10, probably in the 12-14 range. Not sure how that’s negative.

6 of those RB are the focal point

and by that i mean no passing help really. or if there is passing help, its not very effective (i.e. on par with the bills). Thomas jones did have a passing game, he had freakin brett farve last year, and crothcery (or however you spell it) and coles. thats not bad at all. brandon jacobs also had a significantly better passing game than buffalo. (instead of going through them one by one, ill just list them, LT, Deangelo williams, Clinton portis (whos numbers really dropped the second half of the season when the skins couldnt throw anymore and he WAS the offense) so yea in my opinion, and obviously a lil biased, i think lynch is on par if not slightly better than jones and/or jacobs. therefore i was shocked an a lil pissed when he didnt make top 10. i dont think hes top 5, but i do think as of right now, he is top 10.

Pro Bowl running back...

Yeah there are only 2 AFC running backs on that list. So even if they went by the Pro Bowl he’s still fine where he is.

AND

evans is a top 20 WR. last year his production had him 19 in yards, 21 in YPG, and 10 in yard per catch. yea he didnt have the TD numbers, but thats not surprising as last year the defense had to cover one WR every freaking down.

im not a homer, well yea i kinda am, but still have some love for your players!

Evans is a deep threat only though. He hasn’t proven capable of anything else for long stretches. How can a guy like that be a top 15-20 WR?

He can prove he is by having a big season and finally doing more than catching deep balls occasionally.

i think evans is a top 20 WR

just based on his production. in my opinion the last three years the bills have had two (sometimes three) outstanding skill position players. evans happens to be one of them. no evans will never be that 120 rec guy, but thats not what he is. thats not how he preforms. he is the deep threat, and that is a great weapon to have. when effective he opened up tons of other things, the underneath game and the running game. will he ever be top 10? probably not, but i do think he deserves the credit to put up some pretty good number being the only receiving threat on the team for 2-3 years now.

hopefully we will see his production go up this year, he finally has a legitimate number 2 (or really another number 1) WR on the other side. to say im excited about the possibility of our passing game taking off this year with TO, evans, healthy reed, scuba steve and nelson contributing along the way, would be an understatement. i wouldnt be at all surprised (barring injuries) to see evans in top 15 this year as far as production. and for that to help lynch and the running game.

but anyways my main point is i DO think evans talent wise is top 20 wr, and being a deep threat is nothing to scoff at, every team needs one.

I think that’s overrating Evans a bit….

I don’t really think Evans opens up the running game or the underneath stuff. I think those things open up the deep ball for him, and any other players who are able to get deep throughout the league.

Based on his production, Evans is an above average WR:

-In 2008 he finished 19th in receiving yards and 33rd in receptions, along with a tie for 61st in TD’s.
-In 2007 he was 32nd in yards, 45th in receptions, and 36th in TD’s.
-In 2006 when he had his outstanding year, it was very much an outlier from the rest of his career. 6th in yards, 16th in catches, 10th in TD’s. He hasn’t come close to matching those numbers, and probably won’t anytime soon.

I know his QB’s haven’t done much to help him, but it’s not like other WR’s haven’t had bad QB’s as well, and some of them have put up much better numbers.

Evans is the #2 WR, TO will be #1. Who do you think will be getting the majority of the doubles and attention?

Evans may be borderline top 20 in talent, BUT he’s proven to be a great deep threat and extremely inconsistent everywhere else. Nobody is scoffing at being a deep threat, but being a good deep threat doesn’t make him a top WR in the NFL. He needs to be more well-rounded for that….

I’m guessing never, or at least not until his 30’s. The Lions would be idiots not to lock that guy up early…

Question

Is there a precedence for suspended players being rated lower?

to tell you the truth

I’m shocked Marshawn didn’t get in at number 10 especially over Thomas Jones. Jones had a resurrection behind a fantastic o-line, but part of Madden is prognosis for the upcoming year and they seem to be basing that rating on last years numbers. I think Marshawn is probably rated at number 11 or 12 so that works out alright. Marion Barber and Lynch should be in those two slots.

The guy who really got robbed has to be Steven Jackson. Rated 92 at number 7? When healthy Jackson is a top 3 running back in this league and they have him at 7. Ouch.

Madden doesn't bet on the upcoming year.

They are always a year behind and rate people on the past year they just had.

If that’s the case (and I’m not trying to imply that it isn’t, just clarifying for myself) why is Tom Brady rated as the second quarterback? I mean obviously if he returns to form he deserves that ranking (or a higher one potentially) but his numbers from last year aren’t exactly… existent. They must use some prognostication, right?

Oh well

MAdden accurately ranked players by last year’s performance. When Lynch starts dominating games consistently, then he gets the nod. For now, he is an above average starting RB in the league….thankfully he’s young and yet to reach his peak potential, unfortunately, that’d be for a game that doesn’t exist yet. He should be good enough to be worth playing with the Bills on the game at least

I'm just wondering why everyone is debating a player's value and ranking ON A VIDEO GAME!

Sorry guy, but as much as I love playing Madden, this seems like an exercise in futility to me. Who cares what the ppl at EA Sport think of our players. It’s their real production on the feild that should count, not what they do in a freaking video game!

haha right but....

when our guys havent done anything on the field for ten years these these things start mattering more….hey we have to be fun to watch in some form of reality, even if it is virtual, right?

I said in the actual post

so i dont get this comment, i would say alot of people on this site play this game, and it sucks to want to play with the bills and have the team under-rated. thats why its debated. duh it only matters what happened on the field in real life, but alot of us enjoy this game and would like for the bills player’s accomplishments to be reflected in the game.

i knew posting this would bring this comment, i even tried to deter them in my post….

Don’t get me wrong, I love playing Madden, and I love running with Marshawn, as I’ve progreesed him to be the second best RB in the NFL by the 2011 season, only behind Westbrook. But arguing about player rankings in a game where you can change said rakings yourself is a useless arguement (btw I only do that for severelly undervalued players).

by CanadianBillsFan on Jul 8, 2009 10:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

not only that

IT MATTERS!! Don’t ask me why, but when a Bill is rated high on Madden…I’m happy. Just like when you play the 91 Bills and just trash everyone with THurman and get sack happy with Bruce. It’s great, and I would like some virtual respect. However, we don’t deserve it yet….sucks, but true
