Game 1 Perspective
All though there are many topics that didn't go well for the Bills this past Sunday, I'm going to give my view point on the things that did go well for us.
Trent Edwards - Although he threw the interception, he did show command of the offense and effectively ran the no huddle. His chemistry with Owens is obviously strong at this point in camp.
Xavier Omon - According to buffalobills.com, Omon has shed a few points since last season and he impressed me during his action on the field. Especially his 3rd and 8 draw up the middle. He mad a few nice cuts and kept his pads low to move the chains. He will be interesting to watch during the remainder of camp to see if he still gets a spot.
Paul Posluszny - MAN BEAST! He had a few nice takles and a nice pass break-up on a Collins' pass. If he can keep it up and stay healthy again this year he may be one of the best LB's in the league. PS...I just got his white AFL jersey!!!
Bryan Scott - He's like a 4th LB in our 4-3 defense. He was consistently making tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage. I wouldn't mind seeing him at SS and Whitner at FS on opening day and on passing downs White at SS and Byrd at FS...just a thought.
Although they lost preseason game #1, there were a few good things that came out of it. However, there's still a lot of work to be done and I couldn't be more happy to have football season upon us! PS...I'll be attending the Bills / Steelers game on the 29th if any one else is going. If not, I'll be taking notes and bringing back my analysis!
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

good point about scott. he’s not much in pass coverage – he’s ok with weaker TEs but big, skilled guys will eat him up – but his run defense is excellent. kind of reminds me of watching the old 4-6 bear defense, you know, where they kept a huge safety right on the line.

You mean players like Antonio Gates and Kellen Winslow? Both of which he effectively shut down last year.

Exactly
Scott has shown a pretty good ability to cover good TE’s. Whitner, on the other hand, hasn’t bee able to cover anyone….

Whitner couldn't cover a TE if we gave him a blanket!
I would love the Bills to win games, but I will be happy if they are competitive without snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

i was more referring to the fact that he’s a little undersized compared to the guys he’d be covering. i admit i forgot about antonio gates, though =)

scott did a great job on TE’s last year. He did very well against Gates didn’t he?

Poz...
Thought he looked awesome…except I wish he’d made that INT. Don’t I remember him dropping a couple of sure INT’s last season too? I could be mistaken…maybe he needs some catching drills.
I bought the white Poz jersey too. I really love the way they looked in all white. I’m hoping one of these years we get a throwback to the early 90’s uniforms. That’d be sweet.

Catching drills for Puz might be a very good idea at this point. Personally I think pass coverage is his only weak point, he goes from above average to great on pretty much everything else.

One interesting thing the Bills could do with the safeties is stick in their 4-3 defense instead of going to the nickel and put Scott at Ellison’s OLB spot, putting all 3 safeties on the field. There’s a lot of options here and if Buffalo plays their cards right, they should be able to give offenses a lot of different looks depending on the situation.

I’d agree, but I think your giving our coaching staff entirely too much credit. Theres no way that they’e going to get that inventive on deffense.

Nice CBF.
Except they have been doing it in practice. Right now it’s Simpson as a placeholder with Scott and Whitner back but it will be Byrd. They are running three safeties, two corners, four linemen, two LBs.

Your right Scott is good; why did we take Byrd again???
These guys all played well. Scott really impresses just like last year, thats why my big question is why take Byrd when we are good at safety, we obviously need a pass rush and taking Everette Brown should have been the pick. We need a push from our D-line if we are going to cause sacks and picks

Because Whitner can only get picks on lame ducks. And he’s dropped those too.
Byrd has better hands and ball skills than Parrish.
