Aaron Maybin: Signing off of Twitter (for now)

From Aaron Maybin's twitter page:

Good afternoon tweets. Unfortunately, because of the ignorance and stupidity of some people on twitter, I have decided not to sign on again until my contract is signed. Im tired of having to defend myself and my love for this game and the Bills franchise every day, to those who know nothing about the business. Thank u 2 all of my real Bills fans. U are the reason I work as hard as i do & u will see A.M. very soon!

Hopefully for not too long, if you catch my drift.

Heck tomorrow morning would be good enough for me

I’d like to see that while having my morning tea.

Hopefull this will be settled soon. I would really hate for this to turn into what the Jags had to deal with last year, or worst yet, another Peters situation.

Very little is being reported about this contract dispute and why it is taking this long

I know that that typical thing is always about money. How far are they apart? Is it all the guaranteed money that is the hold-up. Are the Bills looking at a 6-year deal? Is Douche Parker affecting our negotiations with his tactics of his Crabtree client?

Very little is being reported other than it is taking a long time and make take longer. Someone speculated that Segal is concerned more with having Vick signed by a team. I would think he will make more commission on the Maybin signing than Vick at this point.

Last we heard, the Maybin camp hadn’t even had serious talks with Brandon.

WHAT!?!?!?!

WTF? Seriously, you’d think that they would have at least sat down and had one serious talk and put forth a serious offer by now. What the heck is going on?

THe agent keeps saying he is waiting for Crabtree. That won’t fly forever.

At what point does Maybin start to get impatient and tells his agent to get something done?

He is clearly already impatient. It’s just a matter of if it’s enough to get on his agent’s case and for his agent to say enough is enough. Not likely.

This whole twitter thing is fascinating...

I understand that he is frustrated, but I must say I am a little bit surprised that Maybin went out on a such limb by calling people (presumably bills fans) “ignorant and stupid”. I could see something like “due to my contract negotiations and I am going to sign off for a bit – thanks to all my fans who have been so supportive”, but to lash out like that just seems a bit childish.

And then you’ve got Kawika jumping in there with a bunch of tweets about “getting your money” and “not listening to the haters”. Great advice for a young athlete who is entering the public eye – but don’t you think he would call the guy? Send him a text? Why broadcast that stuff to the world? The only go using his head here is Donte – who just asked people to have some respect and be patient.

I know Dick has gone on the record about being a bit more laid back with how his players using twitter… but you’ve got to think that this is going to bring the topic up again. It’s one thing tweeting about how bad the food is… its another to be tweeting about your team’s fans…

I suspect that Maybin got tired of getting tweets from Kurupt threatening Maybin’s first born if Maybin didn’t overtake Kelsay on the depth chart by week 3.

Of course we could make things more challenging, Lisa, but then the stupider students would be in here complaining, furrowing their brows in a vain attempt to understand the situation--Seymour Skinner

Why didn't I think of that?!?!?!
